I don't like leaving negative reviews -- and it takes a lot for me to do so -- but since I rely on reviews so heavily when making my own decisions, it's only fair. I just had the strangest 15 minute consultation with salon owner B.J. Brockman ("Momma"). She was distracted, disorganized and dismissive. She'd go from looking for before/after photos to show me to insisting I read a five page document, to checking on a patient, to going in her backroom to ending our consult by simply walking away, leaving me and the receptionist looking at each other like 'whaaaa?' She did not give me the opportunity to ask any questions or even express what I was looking for in a cosmetic procedure. read more

What a wonderful experience! Diane the receptionist and Barbie were both gracious and knowledgeable. I was instantly at ease as they welcomed me. A very casual spa in the V upscale and lovely location on the top floor in Del Mar Heights plaza. Parking and elevator on site and they validate upon leaving at Momma's. They are not into sales rather honest and very affordable. I asked about my acne scars and was suggested a new treatment that the nurse had just done herself. They offered a special and wrote it in my client history for when I would be able to have the treatment performed. I have had botox twice at 49yrs old. I will refer Momma's to my friends for sure. I would not recommend buying a Groupon for Botox. There is no way I had 40 units of Botox injected. In the past, 26 units or so will completely freeze my forehead. I still had full mobility after supposedly 40 units injected. Big fat NOPE for me! read more

have been getting botox injections for 10 years now and I have never ever had an experience like this. First off it was incredibly painful and I began bleeding profusely which is NOT normal. The Practioner jabbed me deeper and almost randomly, saying "opps sorry" several times. When i got home i could see brusing beginning and it felt as if i had been punched in the face. Jump to 5 days latter and my eyes are both swollen and deeply bruised. I can't even cover this with makeup! Absolute negligence. Horrific is an understatement. I purchased 40 units of Botox and left with no change in my forehead and a black eye. BJ (the owner) lectured me for the first 15 minutes about how she loses profits when customers purchase Groupons, and then proceeded to lecture her staff about educating customers to not use Groupon. The salon is cluttered and dirty. Completely unorganized with no privacy what so ever. Once she was finished with her rant about Groupon, she didn't ask me where I wanted the Botox and did not load the syringe in front of me (which is so bizarre in itself). She roughly put injections here and there, and there, and then rubbed some kind of oil all over my forehead to prevent bruising (which is also totally bizarre). Before nightfall that day, I had a black eye. When I called BJ (2 weeks after receiving treatment) to tell her my botox didn't work, she repeatedly called me a liar and a 'dumb bitch millennial.' She said clearly I needed more than 40 units (I know for a fact I didn't receive 40 units to begin with but I've never received more than 30 units ... EVER) She then had the audacity to threaten to 'hunt me down' and attack my character if I tried to leave a bad review so that her normal paying customers could laugh at me. I'm blown away that a business owner would act so unprofessional. I've been receiving botox for the past 3 years from other salons and have never experienced bruising or needed touch ups. Now I even have Mom going to her for threads and Botox...Mom is verrrryyy picky with her results, and BJ is her ONLY go-to gal now! My results w/BJ seem to last such a long time, too! Well... I am a normal client of Revive in Mission Valley and they have superb customer service! I found this place on Groupon and thought what the heck I'll give it a shot. Thank goodness my interaction with the owner was only through the phone! She is nasty, rude, abrupt and does not like it if you question why when you call it goes to a VM in Mammoth Lakes and not to a business with a live person. Why is this such a touchy subject for her? Makes one wonder. She should not treat people like she is above them because you never know who is on the other end. If I was you I would think twice about having anything done by this person. The Botox was fairly priced but I was incredibly disappointed by the way I was spoken to by the woman administering the treatment. As a new customer I came for Botox alone because I am very satisfied with my normal dermatologist, however, she deemed it necessary to point out that I had flaws in my skin and that my dermatologist was not doing a good job and apparently she could do better. If your tactic for business sales includes client degradation you won't be getting any of my money or referrals. She encouraged me to use less on my face rather than trying to up-sell and over inject my face, which I truly appreciated. My friend was having a procedure here. I went to pick her up. The NP who performed the procedure greeted me with an attitude. Then proceeded to become aggressive, defensive and insulting. She touched my face without permission. She made negative remarks about my face, then proceeded to "educate me" on being a nurse. My friend mentioned to her I am a RN (she thought that would help) and the NP took that as a challenge. While she was focused on insulting and educating me she was neglecting post procedure care on her client. I walked out to deescalate the situation and waited for my friend. Once my friend arrived she stated, the woman was late, left her waiting a long time while she chatted on the phone, then didn't numb her completely on one side. The procedure should have taken a hour instead she was there for 2 hours. She stated after I left the NP continued to try and finish her "education" insisting she tell me. My friend and I are both very easy going people. So to have a professional behave this way unprovoked was completely unacceptable. read more

I just want everybody to know I know we all like a good deal and we all know that the doctors make a lot of money on Botox or of the nurses! When someone comes in the room with the pre-loaded syringe is not knowing what you're going to need for units or what they're going to need is a sure sign that you're getting watered down products! Your face is the only face you get! So coming in with pre-loaded syringe is does not work for me and if you care for your face it shouldn't work for you either you were getting a watered down version because they're too cheap to use the full product on you! It might look great at the beginning but give it two weeks! We wear any of these places that come in with preloaded syringes walk out! Number one lifespan on a syringe is four days pushing it you don't know how long the syringe is been filled for you don't know how much is actually Botox and how much is water or sALINE so do your homework nobody enters a room with pre-loaded syringes of botox .... Anybody who is a professional and knows what they're doing needs to assess your face and hold out straight Botox from the bottle in front of you so that you also to know what they're putting in your face and not watering it down no one should ever ever go into a doctors office and get their face injected with pre-loaded syringes! Dealing with BJ has been a nightmare. The first time I called to make an appointment she was super nasty and rude. I was really frazzled and not sure I wanted to make the appointment but went ahead and did so anyway. The only day I'm able to drive up to Del Mar is on Mondays. So I made my appointment for the next available Monday. I show up to my appointment and the business is closed. I waisted an hour and a half driving to and from there. I get a call today saying I'm the one who messed up and my appointment was for today, Tuesday, which I would never have scheduled. I texted BJ telling her to go ahead and cancel that appointment and I will not be rescheduling. She tells me again that there's no way she's in the wrong and it's my bad. Lovely customer service! The owner took me immediately into a room when I arrived, even though I was 5 min. early. She was friendly and casual and competent. The whole appointment took like 10 minutes.
