    Chicken Momo & Momo sauce
    Dani K.

Quaint little spot tucked away at the top of UC Berkeley where a family owned couple serves you like if you're visiting their home. The momos (dumplings) can be ordered steamed or fried and the Momo sauce that comes with them is so good I use the rest of it on my rice for a zingy little touch for the last few bites. Spareribs are falling off the bone fabulous! After a long day there's nothing more satisfying than a delicious meal with what feels like family. Thank you Momos

Stopped by after evening class for dinner on a cold rainy night with a friend because that butter chicken display looked tooo good to be true. The waitress was very friendly and welcoming, warmly walking us through some of the restaurant's bestsellers through small conversation. We both ended up getting the butter chicken anyway ($20), and *wow,* the actual dish ended up being even more delicious than expected. As pictured, it comes with a generous side of rice and a little bit of potato, which complements the sweet and buttery chicken perfectly. The sauce is the soul of the dish, and it was so good I ended up taking the sauce home despite finishing the chicken and rice, because I wanted to savor every last drop of it! If I'm ever in the area again, I definitely want to go back for another meal; Momo Masalas left a really great impression on me.

Absolutely delicious food' the butter chicken was succulent, tender and soo soo flavorful! The chicken biryani Which we got mild thankfully) was wonderful and so fragrant when it came to the table. Lots of different flavors around chicken pieces and a handful of peanuts and chilis. Thank goodness for the mango lassi! Sweet, cool and creamy to save us from the spicy! The owner/person who took our order was as friendly and sweet S could be. Both dishes were cooked fresh and served piping hot!

A Berkeley classic! So close to campus and usually not super full. This is definitely a local hack given how many bad restaurants there are near campus. I almost don't want to post this because im afraid it might draw too many customers and then I'll have to wait in longer lines! This is terrific Himalayan cuisine. The place is small but pleasant.

This was my first visit here to Momo Masala and being an avid lover of Momo I have high expectations and the flavors of all the food were perfect and beat my expectations by miles! The momo were fresh and so delicious as well as the chicken chow mein and the butter chicken. The owner asked me and my gf when we first walked in if we were vegetarian or meat eaters and I've never felt more validated as a customer! The flavors were on point and the veggies were fresh and the owner was explaining some menu items to us and I felt more knowledgeable about my choices after she had finished; the atmosphere is small but cozy and the owner works so hard every day to provide fresh and delicious food. If you are on the Euclid side of Cal Berkeley campus check out this establishment trust me you won't be disappointed! I will be coming back again in the near future, this has made my top 10 restaurants list.

Cute little mom and pop shop Indian/Napoli food place in the alley way across from subway. So good!! Chicken biryani 5/5 Chicken tikka masala 5/5 Lamb platter 5/5 Mango lassi 3/5 - it was good but not use to it. It's more yogurt based. Roti - this roti is diff from Indian roti/stone oven. Chicken mono with sauce - 3/5, it was good but didn't taste different than Chinese dumplings. The sauce is interesting though. Would definitely come back.

I decided to venture up to the north side of campus to give this place a try, and ordered in person at the restaurant (they are on Snackpass, though, if you want to order ahead for pickup). I got paneer chili because I'm a huge paneer fan, and then went to wait at some other benches because they had projected an 18 minute wait. But one of the workers (probably an owner) actually went looking for me since I didn't come back in a timely fashion, so I appreciated they actually went to extra effort to make sure I got my order. It does have real chilis which are actually way beyond my very sad level of spice tolerance, so that made it a bit harder to eat the parts that had chili seeds. There's also bell peppers and a large amount of white rice, though, and I did enjoy the flavoring and the paneer overall.

Nice ambiance and warm service. Food : we ordered johl chicken momos and steamed chicken momo, they were kinda bland but I'm glad I didn't taste that much msg. The momos are big in portion and hand wrapped. I appreciate the sauce and the light broth. I really like the menu and their interior. It gives a very cozy feelings. The owners are also super nice and caring. We will definitely come back to try more items!

Great little spot right near Berkeley. Not a lot of places in these shoes open later on Saturdays. I went by around 6 and most places already closed. Very unassuming place with friendly staff. Only a few tables but you can use the ones in the common area outside. The lamb curry was delicious. If you ask nicely they may add a Nepalese pepper to your dish if you want it spicy. It's got a good kick but great flavor. Would definitely recommend

after attending classes, i found myself on north side wanting to explore what it had to offer in terms of the food scene. while looking around, momo masalas caught my eye because of the colorful and welcoming interior and delicious smelling food. the person taking my order was so sweet and had a motherly aura to her, asking me about what i wanted and answering all my questions. the store itself was quite small, but had plenty of seating to grab a quick bite! i definitely want to stop by again to try their momos, which i didn't get to do in this trip -- -- -- pictured: " butter chicken ($17.63) // when i first heard the price, i thought it was a bit steep, but understood the pricing once i received my meal. along with the extremely creamy and decadent butter chicken, they also gave a side of rice, aloo gobi (stir friend cauliflower and other veggies), and dal (spiced stew made of split peas/lentils). the butter chicken was super thick (slightly too thick for my liking) but extremely flavorful and yummy:) -- -- -- definitely give this place a shot if you're looking for quick bite of authentic nepalese and indian cuisine

The staff here is really friendly and caring, and if you're looking to grab a quick bite on Northside, Momo Masalas is as good of an option as any. The portions are generally huge. I usually don't go for rice dishes at restaurants, but their biryani is great - so flavorful!

Love momo Masalas! Have been many times and had to stop back once again when I was in the area. My favorite is the Jhol momo but the pork chili is always a fantastic option!

Momo Masalas definitively (and I do not say this lightly) has my hand in marriage. Nestled in a small, cozy corner of Northside Berkeley Campus, this restaurant has been singlehandedly airlifting me through my college education since I first happened upon it in Fall 2020. I am writing this review in hopes that some of you will come and give this small, family-owned restaurant some much-needed love because I have absolutely no complaints about this place. The customer service is amazing, and the owner Khendu and the rest of the staff have always been super friendly and welcoming to me and my friends whenever we stop by. The home-style Indian food is both affordable and delicious -- I've tried the samosas as well as the chicken/lamb curry but I have to recommend the chili paneer. The spices and seasoning were fantastic, and an excellent meal especially during the colder months (along with a warm cup of chai to go with it). Logistically the parking is relatively accommodating since there is street parking on both Hearst and Ridge Road, and it's super easy to hop in and out especially if you order to-go. I sincerely hope that more people are willing to give this place a shot because it's one of my best discoveries since coming to Berkeley.

This Momo sauce is so good!

I decided to try this place because it had lunch Thali (specials) and chicken pumpkin which I thought was interesting. We went there early afternoon and got seated quickly. There's inside and outside seating. I decided on the chicken pumpkin thali, ordered pani puri and a mango lassi. My friend ordered the chicken tikka masala thali. The thali comes in a metal lunch style tray. In each section is something different. It comes with rice, salad, daal, naan, papad, avocado raita, potato cucumber achar, and your choice of the entrees listed. The pani puri came out fast. The dough shells were crispy and filled with a spiced mashed potato filling. The tangy flavor water helped cut through the filling. Just dont put too much of the water on it. The mango lassi was good, a little on the sweeter side. I got the chicken pumpkin medium spicy, which felt like a medium. Chicken pumpkin was velvety, had a decent amount of chicken pieces although a little dry. I could taste the pumpkin which had sweetness. I feel for the price of the lunch Thali ranging from $18-21 depending which entree is a good deal since you can try a few different dishes/sides. I wouldn't mine coming again to try other dishes or happy hour.

Though the exterior of…read morethe restaraunt is unassuming, and the building itself is quite small with limited seating, the interior is still very clean and neat, and the workers are very nice. I placed an online order for the C Chicken Momos and the Garlic Cheese Naan, which were both phenomenal. The naan was some of the best I've ever had. It was so fluffy, thick, and pillowy soft, and was not overly charred/thin or too crispy like other naan. Just pure doughy goodness. There was also a perfect amount of cheese filling--enough that you got the subtle kick of milky acidity, but not too overpowering. The naan itself was also not too greasy, and the garlic flavor was very aromatic. You could also taste a hint of the slight tartness from (I'm assuming) the yogurt used to make the naan. The "C" Chicken Momos came with eight large pieces, which is definitely enough to fill you up. The sauce tasted like a classic sweet-and-sour sauce with a very mild and pleasant spice. Also, because the dumplings were fried, they were crispy despite being covered in sauce, but still had a bit of the nice chew you would get from a steamed momo skin. The fillings themselves were also super flavorful: you get a herbal and fresh taste from the ginger, which balanced the tanginess of the sauce so the meal did not feel too heavy, and the subtle nuttiness and pepperiness of cumin in each bite. The dumplings also had some warm broth in them, which is perfect for a cold day. The prices are fair too. You can often find small discounts on Snackpass or delivery apps like GrubHub. Needless to say, I will definitely be coming back. Totally recommend!

I went with some co workers for lunch and we shared what we individually ordered amongst ourselves because it was our first time getting Nepali food. When we arrived, there was no one at the front. Mind you, we came in 30 mins after opening for lunch. We rang the bell multiple times and then as we were about to go to a different place, thinking there was no one around, the cook came out and took our orders. I could tell he was a but overwhelmed since we were a group of 5, but he was really nice and courteous. He also answered the questions we had concerning the food. It took about 40 - 50 mins for our food to get in. We were the only ones in the restaurant so I'm surprised it took the long. That being said, i realized there was only one cook in the kitchen to it makes sense why it took so long however, I was not mentally prepared to wait that long. Around 12 pm, the hostess came in and was shocked to see us. She apologized for being late and wanted to get our orders but we told her the cook already got them. After waiting for about 50 mins, we finally got our orders. The food was AMAZING. Starting with the chicken sekuwa. It was a complete 10/10. I would definitely come back just for this. It was seasoned to perfection, very tender and juicy. The C Momo was very crispy and covered in a nice sweet chilli sauce. They're like deep fried dumplings. I would give it an 8/10. The lamb curry was very savory and filling. We got that with some rice and roti. It paired very well. I would also rate that an 8/10. The lamb thali was good but I think I was overwhelmed with everything on the plate. It was not bad, the lamb and lentil soup were good but I think I did not know how best to eat it so I could not fully appreciate it. I would give it a 6.5 The thai iced tea was pretty standard one. Very nice and not too sweet. 8/10 for ne The food here was pretty remarkable. I usually don't care about 'bad' service but this one really had a huge impact and stopped me from giving it a higher rating. I would not be too keen on coming back here with how understaffed they are but I do understand. If you're not in a rush, and are ready to grow your fruit of patience, I would definitely say the food is worth the wait and it was really good.
