Stopped here because it was the only thing that looked genuinely interesting for about a hundred miles. Not even slightly disappointed, the dessert was to die for, the pie was just like my great grandma used to make it. Food was affordable and the old ladies working at the place were very sweet. If you're makin a trip in between Colorado and Vegas or just happen to be in the area I'd recommend stopping off here for a meal! read more

Mom's has changed ownership yet again. A few months back. The plates have gotten smaller and do not even come close to the amount of food we used to get. Our meals were costly, and basically from toaster or microwave to our plate. I absolutely hate writing this but for the amount of food and quality for how costly it was, DENNYS is our preferred choice from now on. Moms used to rock the food. We couldn't even eat the scones barely bigger than a silver dollar. They don't even carry real honey.. We are locals here and would not recommend until they come to their senses. Mom's Cafe has a cute, quiet, homey feel. I was pretty excited after hearing locals rave about the food there. We are in town working. We went in today for lunch wanting a nice salad. We're pretty tired of hamburgers at this point. Our waitress was very nice as she had us seat ourselves and was right over to serve us. My husband ordered a Cobb salad and I ordered a Chef salad. We're sad to say, when our food arrived we were highly disappointed. We received two small cereal bowl sized salads and two ice teas for $32.88 plus tip. My husband's salad only had about a 1/4 cup if that of lettuce with the rest of the ingredients in his bowl. They didn't taste bad but fully feel like we were robbed. I'm saddened to say we most likely will not be back due to the amount you receive is very minimal for the expense. I've personally in all my life never had such small salads especially a Cobb & Chef salad as the main entree be as small as a dinner salad. Maybe the rest of the food is worth it's price. I failed to review Mom's when I passed through Salina this summer, but best later than never. Mom's is deserving of at least that. What I was looking for on the long drive from CO to Las Vegas is what I found: an older, historic, blue-collar town, and a landmark of a diner that has survived on quality product and service, and not merely being the only show in town, unlike those diners in other one-horse towns who stick around merely because there's no other game around. Price point? On point. Per my photo, I had a bottomless cup of coffee and one for the road, a side pancake, and cheese/sausage/egg sandwich where the sausage was larger than a hamburger in most joints. Pretty sure that all came out to less than $15, possibly less than $10. I didn't cringe, which is the point. Service was smiling, genuine, and accommodating when--though I rolled into town bedraggled from sleeping under the stars the night before--I asked if I could take all my food outside to the alley picnic table so I could eat with my dogbuddy. She said yes, of course, and when I asked to pay then, she waved me away and insisted I only take care of that when through. Trust is such a comforting blanket in this day and age. I'm tempted to move back to small-town America after exchanges like this. There was even an old codger with a beat-up pickup truck and a ragged cowboy hat who came in to laugh with his friends over coffee. It's like we're in a movie! Everything was tasty, cooked evenly, plentiful yet not heavy and burdensome. I left contentedly, with renewed faith in our nation. That's some powerful stuff they're serving out there at Mom's! Amazing food friendly staff , service with a smile , I got the chicken fried steak , wonderfully crispy in our group we also got the Patty melt , mushroom Swiss and the breakfast burger , there was no a single complaint. And that scone!! Thought it would be a Rhodes roll type but it was fresh and soft on the inside had an amazing taste by itself but with the honey butter made the whole thing that much better. Only thing I think they could work on is their interior needs to be updated , it's nice right now but could take a step up. Other than that, 10/10 will be back again read more

It was as good as advertised, the food, the service, news clippings on the wall, show some history of "Mom" and just fun info. Mom's Cafe is a place that makes me happy to be alive. A slice of Americana in small town USA. Found in the book Road Food and therefore probably wouldn't be found without it. Salina is a town you would most definitely pass through, but so worth a stop for this establishment. Right on the corner by the only traffic light in town. Stop your car. Walking in made me feel like I was stepping back in time. To when life was easier. This is simple food made with love and care. Greasy spoon food if you will. Might not want to eat here if you are dieting. Mom's is known for their scones. Nope. Not the pastry you might find at a coffee shop. These are more like soppapillas you would find in New Mexico. Add some honey butter like the locals do. Next up was Chicken Fried Steak. Hold the gravy for me. I am strange like that. Might be the first time in Mom's history that they served this dish gravy free. Solid dish. We were talked into homemade pie for dessert. Mine was Sour Cream Blueberry. Good, but a bit too much at the end. If I could do it again I would order a different slice. I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed this experience. read more

They used to have good food. The chicken dumpling soup was good. Now it is so thick it is gross.

They sell a great sea salt for $5. This is a great old fashioned diner. The menu items were a little more than you would expect, but the quality was good. Gourmet mined salt like RealSalt from Redmond, Utah, is mined rock salt that is crushed, screened, and packaged. It is not refined and contains many trace minerals that give it a pinkish color and unique flavor. read more

Stopped in for lunch on our way to camping. Dad got the patty melt with fries. Mom and I split the chicken fried steak. Included a trip to the salad bar. It is small as other reviews have said but we liked the options. Potato salad was homemade as was the ranch. My favorite is pickled beets and they had some. Also enjoyed the pasta salad. My grandmother worked here, back when the place was fairly new so as a kid, when we would come up and visit my grandpa I would enjoy fun stories from my mom about my grandmother every time we would come here. Up until recently, about 6 years, I hadn't been back up to the area, but after my mom moved up here, visiting Mom's is pretty much the highlight of the area. My go to order is their chicken strip lunch combo that comes with a trip to the salad bar, giant strips, mashed potatoes, veggies, and a scone with honey butter. The chicken strips are huge, hot and juicy. The mashed potatoes are served with white gravy, which although not the most healthy choice so delicious. My favorite part of the meal though is my hot fresh scone with delicious honey butter. Now this isn't a traditional scone that you think of finding in your Starbucks, but a delicious piece of fried dough and it is amazing especially with honey butter. If you stop in you have to try one. On top of that, the service is amazing, super friendly, the decour is adorable, and the food is all homemade. read more

We stopped in on our way from Salt Lake to Richfield, and chose here mostly because it was close to our route, and starving for lunch. We were not disappointed. Stepping into the diner felt like a step back in time, and I loved it. The waitress was extremely friendly, and she had a lot of good suggestions on the menu. I chose the breakfast burger, which came out piping hot, and was absolutely to die for! Definitely get yourself a scone for dessert. Good home cooking in a historic small town building. We stopped by on a Sunday not only because it looked like a neat place but it seemed like the only place open in town. As we walked in I could tell the food would be good because of how busy it was and by looking at all the good food on everyone's plate. I had a burger and my wife had a club sandwich. Wowwww the scones!! I read scone on the menu and was like what, that's weird... like not a biscuit but a scone? It's not a regular scone, it's like a deep fried donut (kinda like fry bread meets donut meets cronut?) served with some kind of strawberry icing/butter at the end of the meal. I wish we'd known and had gotten several, they were soooo good. My bf had the chicken fried steak and loved it, the green beans were so good like southern grandma good, and I had the burger and fries. The burger was simple but great, and the fries tasted really homemade, like when my parents make fries at home. So good. Wish it was less than 8 hrs from where I live, I'd go back all the time! I came here for dinner 3 days in a row while in Salina. It was expensive (thus the four stars) but very delicious. I had the trout with baked potato, corn and salad. The trout and potato were excellent. The next night I had the salmon with baked potato, green beans and salad. The salmon was good but I missed the trout from the night before. The green beans were very good despite them looking plain. Perfectly tender and seasoned. The third night I got the trout again. It wasn't as seasoned/crisp as the time before so I liked it less but it was still good. I had gotten the mashed potatoes instead of the baked potato to mix things up but didn't like it as well. Among my family, everyone liked their food: the trout, flat iron, chicken tenders, patty melt, fries and scones were the standouts. Fish and chips not so much. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. They were understaffed each weeknight we were there but you'd never notice because of their outstanding service. We were very thankful to find this cafe! read more
