Came in for afternoon brunch on the weekend, the wait for a table was just about 40 mins- as expected since this is a very popular brunch spot in the area. Met up with fellow Yelpers Lonnie and Nancy during this day for some outdoor dining. The menu looks cool with a retro diner vibe. Ordered the Chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream and berries and a Short-rib cheese sandwich. The wait for our orders were fairly long as well. Alas, food arrived and we dive right into our plates. The Short-rib sandwich tasted good with a side of grilled baby potatoes. The pancakes were decent as well with a good amount of fresh berries to accompany the whipped cream. We enjoyed the food, but dining outside on a bright sunny day, with the sun just beaming on my back was a bit uncomfortable. Will come back to try the other items on the menu
So this is my 2nd time here. I walked in with my cousin for brunch. We planned to go somewhere else but after searching for for parking in the area for so long, we found a parking next to this restaurant and ended up going in. There was a 20 minute wait. .... We were hungry and cold but we went back in the car and waited. Thanks goodness we did! It didn't disappoint at all! We ordered drinks - hot girl (tastes like a spicy margarita ) and frozen strawberry margarita. Oh I should add that I first ordered a coffee boozy latte and it was so sweet so I sent it back for the he got girl! We ordered the buffalo Mac and cheese balls for starters (SO GOOD! Def order that). It was pretty filling and we almost didn't finish our sandwiches. My cousins took her chicken sandwich to go and only ate the fries that came with it. I dogged my egg sandwich . Moral of the story- food is banging, drinks are tasty, vibes are chill.
Easily, one of the best Chicken & waffle dishes I've ever had. Yes, staff is friendly, knowledgable of the menu, all of that good stuff, they were great especially with my son, but the food was top tier breakfast. People had other items, but I was so lost in how great MY food was. Order it, everything on it, I was skeptical because it sounded like a lot, but no, its perfect. I did try the shrimp and grits, I couldn't even handle how good this was. The grits had cheese without asking (more than one kind), shrimp was sharp with flavor. I had to stay away and secure real estate for my own plate. The bacon, egg and cheese... did not feel like it came from mom's hands. By proxy of being on the same table as all this other great food, it'll get a pass but.. dont even bother with making that. This will be my designated place when I'm in the area.
This place was an experience lol something about the energy just made it fun. The staff was super friendly and helpful as well with the menu options. They menu had plenty of odd but interesting and what seemed to be good offerings, especially when it comes to shakes and drinks. I started with the Mom-osa which was good, Buffalo Mac & Cheese Balls which were good, Cinnamon French Toast which was amazing and finally the Shrimp & Cheesy Grits which was the only thing I think needed a little improvement. Overall an experience you will enjoy.
We wanted to try a new place for brunch and we found this gem. It was a saturday morning, it was packed with people. Servers and host was nice and we were seated quickly. They have both indoor and outdoor seating areas. They have a very interesting cocktails and mocktails to start your brunch right. Their portions were huge, so we decided not to get their drinks. So, we ordered chicken and waffles and pancake burrito. Chicken was very juicy and flavorful. Chicken, waffle and bacon was a great combo. Pancake burrito, it was my first time eating pancakes and eggs together, it was amazing with some bacon bits on top, sausage and cheese mixed with the eggs. Price were around $20/ each but the portion was worth it. I would love to be back to try their cocktails.
Me & my girlfriend come here every year the day after Christmas to celebrate the anniversary of our first date here. It's a part of our holiday tradition, and we wouldn't have it any other way! She always goes for the Steak and Eggs, with fries on the side or the Chicken & Waffles. Depending on my mood, I tend to vary between the Woodland Omelette or the Steak & Eggs. We always share the Return Of The Mac as our appetizer though... Overall, Mom's is a great neighborhood spot with a can't miss menu, a vibrant interior and quality customer service! There's a reason why it's a part of our holiday tradition!
Finally crossed this place off my list! The decor is super cute and full of things you would find in your mom's kitchen. Went in on a Friday afternoon and was seated immediately. Had to get one of their iconic shakes, of course! The Rainbow Bright was a stunner and made me feel like a little kid again. One shake can definitely be shared between two people. I had the chicken & waffles and it was honestly one of the better chicken & waffles I've had because of the hot honey and bechamel. The avocado toast was good but a little heavy on the pickled onions (I'm not the biggest pickled onion fan). Cute lil brunch spot and I'll be back to try their other crazy shakes!
Before we leave nyc, we had to visit Mom's kitchen after hearing so many great things about it on Tik Tok and reviews here on Yelp. We got there at 9:30am so a little after they open at 9 and they already had a few people there by the time we got there. Service was really fast, we got seated right away. The place is kind of tight but we were still comfortable. Drinks; I got a mimosa and man did i underestimate the power of that mimosa, it got watery pretty quickly because of the amount of ice in there but still very strong. Food; My husband had the egg sandwich and he loved and ate everything there. He also had it with homefries went we thought that it was a type of season on it that was very strong and dominating that we didn't like but it was still tasty. I had the chicken and waffle and wow was it so different but so good!! That bechamel sauce on top of it was everything. The chicken was well seasoned. I've never had my chicken and waffles like this before. Loved it! Coming back or nahhh? Yess yes when I'm back to the city!
We didn't try a lot as we are having a short stay in New York, so typically we try one small dish at a place and move on. Most of the items on the menu appeared to be a large portion and heavy carb so we kept it simple and shared the cheese steak egg roll. Not what you'd expect, cheese steak traditionally in my mind means some sort of thinly slice meat and cheese and onion or peppers. Not sure if they had to modify how the meat came since it would be fried like egg roll style but it felt more like a meat sausage with cheese inside. Overall the flavor of it 7/10. The sauce they served with it completely clashed or overpowered the flavor. We just finished the dish without the sauce. Wife got this large Mimosa. I think it was called momosa. She never mentioned that she loved it " Usually she does or does a little wiggle when she enjoys something. Would consider trying other things on the menu, but most things looked loaded in sugar.

It was a decent experience, but honestly not what I was expecting-- every day I pass by Mom's I typically see it absolutely packed with people, but the food was just ok. I got the steak and eggs for breakfast with home fries. I had no major complaints, but there was also nothing amazing about what I got, especially for the $35 price tag. The ambiance was also a bit loud, as you're right on a pretty noisy street corner. There are a few sheltered/indoor seats but for many of the tables it's car sounds and dogs barking. Came here for brunch with friends randomly on the 4th. Service: We were seated quickly but did have to wait for a while for our food although we ordered food relatively quickly. Although I will note it seems we were in between shifts. Drinks were delicious. The mock tail was yummm. The margarita is better if it has flavor. Food was good. The chicken sandwich is savory. Why do Yato's friends force him to come back again? I don't think Yato's friends like him. Maybe they want him dead? Yato still has nightmares of this place giving him food poisoning. However, Yato is weak, he comes back to appease friends. However, Yato wins. They hated this place. Said the food was dry. Yato knew disappointment was coming. Yato only got a drink. You won't fail me again. Not again. However the one star? Why the one star? Because Yato was told there was a $20 minimum to sit per customer. Huh? HUH? Yato won't pay $20 for food poisoning again. Accurate description 90s theme brunch-ish spot. It's a weird mix that it wants to showcase kid food faves and diner foods. The music is cool and adds to the ambience. The decor is the old school lunch boxes and tzchacies with a diner look. The menu is small so it allows them to focus on those options. Prices are a bit high given the options. It's a fun place to come with friends to brunch. The food is good. Their milkshakes are amazing def a must try. The space is small inside but on a nice day it opens to the outside and you can people watch from the side walk. Nice and friendly staff. Now that I have visited the Manhattan location, I had to visit the original location in Astoria. Needless to say, I walked out feeling slightly disappointed. Maybe it is because I went during an off time, but that does not mean that the food has to be off with it. The Buffalo Mac n Cheese balls have the potential to be lethal. These things taste great. Problem, every other bite or so tasted ice cold. I figured to let this infraction pass because I feared if they reheated it, the balls would lose their integrity. The milkshake followed, this time I got their MR. FLUFFLEUPAGUS. Yes I copied and pasted that because there is no way I could spell that correctly. Like the above, it tastes great, but the second it hits the table the whole thing begins to collapse. I barely got any ice cream, just peanut butter. Like the above, I could not complain. It would have ruined the shake. For my entree I got the Waffle Taco. Again, high potential, but poor execution. It comes with one sad sausage, tucked by a mushy waffle (it absolutely has zero integrity), and the egg and cheese threaten to undermine it all with every minute it is sitting on your plate. The home fries included with the dish have too many onions and it forced me to pick around them so to avoid future heartburn. I really wanted to like this, but in the end, it falls just short. read more
All the foods your mom wouldn't let you eat! For my last brunch in NYC, I wanted to try something unique. After digging on Yelp and drooling over my phone, it goes with Moms Kitchen & Bar. This 90s-themed diner was just the taste of nostalgia I needed to end a fun trip. The interior was decked out in a Christmas at moms diner theme with cartoons on TV. It was cold in NYC that day, and Moms don't have ample space, so their two doors blasting the cold air didn't ruin my experience; however, be advised if you want a warmer environment. Everything on the menus looked festive and significant in the portion. I didn't want to change the meal too much, so I kept it simple and got their steak and eggs and a side of good pancakes. I like a smaller pancake, but If your into a larger size, they may be perfect for you. Drink-wise, I got one of their specialty drinks called the Campfire cutie, spiked hot chocolate with roasted marshmallows and M&M's. I most definitely needed a nap after my meal. Overall I liked my experience at Moms. It was a warm, fun environment with some heavy food. If that's your jam, you will love this space. A cute place that serve all day breakfast/brunch. It's a bit like diner but much cooler vibes, love the decor with all different old style lunch boxes on the wall. Recently I went for lunch with a friend on a weekday and like it so much that came back for brunch on the weekend with hubby and another couple friends! She tried it... I loved my hotel however the basic eggs and sausage standard breakfast for $17 per person was not it. So what did I do, jumped on YELP. There I was introduced to Moms Kitchen and Bar, and after saw it on a fellow foodies page. So, I gave it a go. Nestled on the corner in Queens, New York, giving diner vibes and pumping old school R&B is what you experience when arriving at Moms Kitchen and Bar. Seems to me this joint definitely busts out the seams during the warmer month. The space in Astoria is smaller but if you get in you hit gold. An excellent wait staff that made sure we were seated quickly and helpful with any questions we may need to ask. I was here for it all. I started my breakfast with morning spirits. The electric lemonade was quiet delicious. I would recommend it; it's not to much to start your day. #1: Steak, Eggs and Breakfast Potatoes. When I tell you seasoned to perfection. Everything was so good. I added a little salt and pepper to the eggs, but it probably wasn't needed. The garlic butter lifted everything on the plate. I did my happy dance. #2: Chicken Bacon Waffle with Cholulah honey and bechamel sauce was finger licking good. You didn't need any additional syrup even tho they provide it. The blend bacon and chicken with the waffle was like Christmas Day to the tastebuds. Best place for brunch in Astoria, hands down! Be warned their portions are huge and best as shared orders. This is also not a place for a diet Their pancakes are amazing, creative and unforgettable. We loved the savory mac and cheese pancakes and the fun Fruity Pebbles option! Tables next to us got pancake burritos and they were gigantic and looked delicious! For mains, definitely try the shrimp and grits and heavy metal fries are a crowd pleasing side. The shakes are amazing but like a full dessert. Go with friends and order a bunch of options to share. Okay, I've officially added this spot as one if my favorite brunch locations! They had brunch all day so of course I had a mimosa lol to eat I had the chicken and bacon waffle option... its made with two sauces I hadn't heard from before (cholula honey and bechamel sauce) but I decided to trust my waitress because she said it was good, sooo glad I trusted her. Such a fun breakfast spot in Queens! Located on a corner, you're able to choose from outdoor and indoor seating. Inside you'll find fun decorations amongst a homey atmosphere. We were able to get a seat right away but there could be a wait pending on when you arrive. Service was friendly and fast. Would recommend visiting! read more

Solid brunch spot. The pancake burrito is massive so I feel like it's more worth than most brunch options. The wings tasted like they were frozen and microwaved. The electric blue lemonade had almost no alcohol in it, so I may just opt for a non alcoholic drink next time. Would come back but not clamoring to do so. read more

We have a variety of brunch cocktails in addition to a full bar. We have large sized mimosas & a selection a bloody marys to choose from.
How is the parking around there midday during the week?
It's metered parking mostly and can be very busy. If you park a block away in any direction it's a bit better but again mostly metered.
