We arrived Sunday morning expecting a long wait (they don't take reservations) and were seated right away. Ordered chicken fried steak, the special chilequilas, and veggie hash (made vegan without cheese, sauce, or eggs). Food arrived quickly, service was friendly and checked in more than enough times and was fast with requests. Not the best spot if you're vegan, but they had plenty of vegetarian and gluten free options. Serving size was more than enough and not bad at all for the price. I'm not from the area but it's a must to come here when I'm in Chico!!!! I remember the first time I came here it was so packed we couldn't get a table! Hence it was orientation week for Chico State so you'll be waiting a long time to eat. Their decor is unique they have pictures of Moms all over so I'm sure you can bring in a picture of your lovely Mom to add to the collection :) Their potatoes are delicious!! They have a different texture you just have to try them to know what I mean. My favorite meal has been their eggs Benedict along with orange juice to drink. I love this place!! I've been a few times while visiting Chico and I've never been disappointed. I love their brunch drinks and even though I'm not a big bloody fan, I heard their bloody flights are delicious!! This past visit I got the biscuits and gravy and they were so good! Really yummy breakfast place that's close to campus and right in near down town. Moms itself has an extensive menu full of so many different delicious menu options. My cousin and I drove to Chico from Sacramento for a shopping day and stopped at Moms for brunch from a friend's recommendation. I'm so happy we did, we did not wait too long for a table, we order the carnitas breakfast bowl to split (only complaint the meat was a little too cooked) but it was still delicious, and then I got a side of French toast (hands down the perfect piece of French toast) and she got a blueberry pancake (amazing). The customer service was great we didn't have to wait long for our food and the prices are extremely reasonable our total bill was right around $30. Definitely will be coming back to try more of the menu in the near future. read more

I popped in to have lunch. When I think of a restaurant named "Mom's" I think of good, down to earth, old fashioned tasty and healthy cooking. The location is great as easy parking is available close by and it really is in downtown Chico. My lunch, however, was nothing special, but the selection possible was limited and average in taste. Went here for brunch with the family. I'm from Chico and have been to Mom's several times. The food is always very good! This time my husband and I shared and biscuits and gravy and cream cheese stuffed blueberry French toast. They were both delicious! Lost two stars because of the hostesses service. It was a busy Sunday morning, we put our name in and were told 25-30 minutes. Totally fine, we were happy to wait a bit. We were sitting at the tables outside the front door. Close enough to the hostess stand to hear her call for names. Hostess comes down 30 minutes later looking for a "Reggie". We tell her no... and give her our name again. 20 more minutes go by and I see her let a group of girls in, who are obviously friends with her, that had just walked up 10 minutes before. We go check with the hostess and she claims she had called our name several times and then passed us. So, you can walk down looking for a "Reggie", but not our names? We even gave you our name again! That was your chance to say "hey, I called your name!" You would be LOUDLY calling names, but this girl was definitely whispering if she thinks she called our name. She was very rude, says she adamantly called our names over and over again, yet we hear absolutely nothing and were less than 10 feet away. She was at the bottom of the second page, while we're we halfway down on the first. We were seated after telling her it was unacceptable and that she did not call our name. My sister and I tried Mom's Restaurant for the first time a couple of weeks ago when we moved my daughter to an apartment to start her college experience. The Bloody Mary flight was so cool and tasted amazing! I think the dill pickle was my favorite. The ABC omelet was loaded with bacon, avocado and cheese. I asked for a side of gravy for my biscuit and they did not skimp. The servings are large, the service was good, and the food was absolutely delicious. I've visited Mom's twice since the 'outdoor dining only' mandate. Both visits were memorable for: a short wait, friendly staff, fast service, delicious food, large portions, and comfortable atmosphere. Although I prefer eating outside, I'm excited at the chance to dine at the bar some day. First visit I had the veggie scramble. The veggies were fresh and the dish was hot and tasty (chimichurri!). Coffee is strong but not bitter. Bloody Mary is spicy and flavorful. Second visit I had the green eggs and ham. Perfectly poached eggs smothered in rich Hollandaise sauce and surrounded by cheese topped ham/onion/potato hash. Bloody Maria is similar to the Mary I had the first visit with the exception of having tequila in place of vodka. Shout out to Lucas who I had as my server both visits. read more

During this pandemic, they have really pulled out all the stops to provide an excellent dining experience for their guests. Rating 2 stars instead of 1 because the staff seems really nice and eager to do their job. I am blown away that this restaurant has a four star rating. I went with my family last week and had a very subpar breakfast experience. It was such a bad experience that I actually remembered to write a review. I ordered the veggie hash as it sounded like the healthiest thing on the menu. When it arrived it turned out to be just a plate of mush potato's covered in melted cheese and a "red pepper cream sauce". The sauce was completely broken (when oil and butter separates due to over heating or trying to keep warm too long). The plate had a few scatterings of spinach leaf and grey artichokes. I didn't eat it. My dad ordered chicken fried steak. They made his gravy with pizza sausage instead of breakfast sausage.. ew. My mom ordered the Greek scramble and arrived completely grey covered in a grey-white sauce. It had some chopped olives on top... to me it looked inedible. They really need to work on quality and presentation more than anything. Also, the back room smells terrible. It should be against health codes to have carpet in a restaurant. It truly smells like vomit. Needless to say I really disliked my experience here. Will not be back. Unless they remodel and revamp the entire business. Wake up people. I've always heard pretty good things about Mom's and I always see people there so I was looking forward to trying their breakfast menu. We ordered the Stuffed French Toast and the Biscuits and Gravy Scramble and I'd have to say it was very disappointing. I'm not sure if this is the same quality of food that they've always had, but it was very basic and pretty bland. It was weird because the food looked like it would be decent but once I tried it, I soon realized how tasteless it all was. Where do I start. Service was OK had to get her attention to get refilled on the coffee.. I had chicken and waffles. The chicken was flavorless and greasy from the fryer the waffle was not crispy it was soft and almost like it was steamed. My GF had the special Chiliqueles they were ok not our favorite. I went here last Sunday and had an excellent experience. I apologize, I thought I submitted this so I deleted my food photos from my phone. When I arrived, the restaurant was pretty packed; however, there was open sitting at the bar which was awesome since I was alone. The bartender was extremely nice and efficient which I appreciated. I don't remember his name but he had hanging earlobes. I originally wanted the chicken and waffles but they had just sold out - No worries... the menu had several items which caught me eye. Instead I ordered and omelette with cheese, mushroom, spinach, onion and chorizo with sliced avocado on top. I also added a side of the slow roasted potatoes and one side pancake. Everything was delicious! My pancake was like the ones I make at home and it taste as if it was prepared in a cast iron skillet. It was so good and the syrup is just regular traditional syrup which I prefer. The omelette was so perfect that I at the entire thing and the potatoes were soft and crunchy at the same time. Mom's is a Chico staple, and somewhere I have been many times since moving to Chico. Is it my favorite and go-to breakfast spot? No. Will I ever turn someone down if they ask me to go there with them? No. Their food is good, I love their pesto omelet, and their mimosas. It's nice to be able to eat inside where they have a cute and welcoming/cozy vibe, or outside for people watching (and you can bring your pup!). Came here on a Saturday morning for breakfast. We wanted to sit in the outdoor patio, and there just a short 10 minute wait. The Bacon Lovers Benedict had thick bacon slices and the hollandaise sauce had a unique spiciness, which the waitress attributed to the dash of cayenne pepper. The chicken fried steak was tender and the gravy had a good consistency. The breakfast potatoes were cut into thick flavorful cubes. There were two disappointing things: I had this concoction from the breakfast special board of bacon, cheese, and biscuits topped with gravy and bacon bits; pretty dry and not very appetizing. I ate half of it and left the other half for the trash. I inquired about the free coffee offfer if I check in with Yelp and the waitress said they don't offer that anymore.
