This restaurant was interesting. First had a hard time entering the building since it was connected to a gas station. They should put a bigger sign or something to make it easier to differentiate the restaurant and gas station. It was a nice busy Sunday the food came fast but half of the food was missing so we kept having to ask where some of our food was and making sure we weren't missing anything. The food was very simple, no seasoning just bland. You get what you pay for which the food was cheap. I feel like I definitely could cooked a better breakfast at home. Initially surprised that it's connected to a gas station, but then I remembered one of my favorite breakfast places in South Dakota was with a gas station (4U, outside of Ellsworth AFB near Rapid City). The place is quite comfortable and clean. The staff friendly and attentive (wish I got their names to post specifically about each of them, but was distracted still watching news about Paris). There's a good selection of breakfast options and even though I chose the Special I was also tempted to add a blueberry pancake (my favorite). And glad I didn't as I would've just wasted more food as the Special was certainly more than enough and I couldn't finish, though all the food was great. I'm definitely coming back again despite the 35 minute drive. I hope you get to chat with mom; she's pleasant and a fun conversationalist. The place is little and always packed with locals, mostly farmers and politicians! The biscuit & gravy is excellent. Portions are pretty good sized. The atmosphere is simp and clean. The only complaints I have are that if there's 2 extra seats at your table and a party of 2 come in, they seat them with you. AWKWARD. They also only give one refill on drinks and you have to ask for it. They take CASH ONLY. And lastly, they use squared process cheese slices in everything. YUCK! read more

I drive up from Cinti to eat breakfast here. This breakfast special is the real deal! Great biscuits/ gravy( very large portions) real fried potatoes( not out of a freezer) just overall very good food. My wife and I dine out a lot, all types of food, but this is the only place we go for breakfast. They do not accept Credit Cards! Just happened to have cash. The experience was fine. Mom and pop place for sure. Omelet was good. Home fries really good. Blueberry muffin was tasty and fresh. Some raves about the sausage gravy confuse me. I thought it was a One-Star rating for sure. Adding a bunch of salt and pepper didn't help much - didn't eat it. I was so excited to bring my fiance here. I moved to NC with him and we came back to visit family and it's all I could talk about. But when we got there we got the cold shoulder. Sat down and it took 30 minutes for them to take our order. The party of 8 that got there after us, got their food and left before we even ordered. It felt like the waitresses were ignoring us. tried this place on a whim this morning for some breakfast. first off... what a cute little place! the decor on the inside is not what you would expect for a joint next to a gas station. ADORABLE! the service was EXCELLENT! our waitress was super attentive and sweet... even though we came in right in the midst of the breakfast rush. now onto the good stuff... the eats. we ordered a variety of items to test out the cooks. biscuits and gravy were pretty good... my mom raved about them. standard breakfast items... but they were cooked as ordered. extra crispy bacon and home fries were great. i ordered the tenderloin sandwich... and as a native Hoosier who LOVES tenderloin sandwiches... this place has a BOMB one. i even ordered one to go. They're was four of us. We ordered breakfast biscuits and gravy with potatoes and an order of french toast. Our food came out cold after waiting along time. Then we watched them set two customers at an eighth seat table and then add another family to the same table. Thentthey asked that group if they wanted a booth, they moved and then they added another family to the eight seater, while the family of 2 was sitting there the whole time. This is a throw back to family dinners. Everything is homemade and their pies are great. The waitresses are very friendly and keep on top of refills. The gravy was brown and seemed like it was beef based for biscuits and gravy. The potatoes were undercooked and just warm. They decided to cover eggs with gravy which made the eggs inedible. If you're from this area, you know there aren't many non-chain breakfast options, so we thought we would give this place a try.....We were told to sit wherever, the drink order was taken and received for half of our party. The other half had to go find an ATM - because even though yelp says they take credit cards, they actually only take cash. After returning from the ATM we waited for approximately 15 more mins before deciding to simply leave because we had not been re-approached by our server nor acknowledged by any staff member. Seemed like they could have had good home-style cooked food and they were busy (but not overwhelmingly so), but unfortunately we will not be back to try it. We found this little gem north of Cincinnati. We were looking for an alternative to the usual stops, e.g. Crackerbarrel or the "complimentary" breakfast at our hotel. Mom's filled the bill. My wife enjoyed an order of oatmeal with a dash of cinnamon and said it was very good. I had Mom's Breakfast Special--top of the menu--you better be hungry if you order this. Our waitress was super sweet. I dined with 3 of my small children there because my little boy wanted to go out and eat breakfast dinner after his 5 year old shots. I have not eaten here lately, I started going there when Mom's was located in RED LION,Ohio. I have known the lady that owns Mom's Resturant for 30 yrs. I have never gotten a bad or cold meal there. When she was in Red Lion it was always STANDING ROOM ONLY on Sat and Sun mornings. Now in their new place close to I 75 the still have the big tables or booths. If you don't want to meet other people(basicly strangers) wait for a booth. The meal I like is Biscuits and Gravey. Gravey is made with real milk in a cast iron skillet . It cant be beat . Absolute, hands-down worst experience of my life. I have never been treated so disrespectfully at a restaurant in my life. Apparently this restaurant closes early afternoon on Saturdays even though it is located directly across the street from a sports facility that hosts a large basketball tournament. Once we were seated we heard a waitress in the lobby area talking VERY loudly to the other waitresses about how they closed in 10 minutes and she wished we would just order quickly. She was very upset and made it very clear we were being rude for coming in with 10 minutes until close. We offered to leave, but our waitress assured us we were okay. The other waitress continued to rant and rave loudly and then the lights were turned off. We sat in darkness and our food was horrible. We would have been better off to go to McDonalds. Bottom line, I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy. And if I were Luke Kennard, I would demand they take his picture down off the walls because I would not want my face even associated with this restaurant. read more
