We decided to take a weekend vacation to Woodstock, Vermont and after driving for a few hours, this is the first place we stopped. We had seen the reviews on YouTube, and being coffee lovers it was on our list. We were so happy that it was one of the first places we saw, as we surely needed coffee after such a long drive. The ambience is adorable, rustic, & classy all in the same sentence. Even being here in the summer, which is the off-season, it was busy, but not overloaded. I'm a sucker for a local cafe. Every new place I visit, I ensure to visit one. Mon Vert is special; the staff was inviting and friendly, knowledgeable and kind. They welcomed me and my 1.5 year old inside, never once making me feel bad for having a young child there (believe me, many restaurants/cafes can tense up when they see a toddler). One of the baristas brought over a dinosaur and sticker for him, and that extra reach of kindness truly exemplifies what kind of business they are. I ordered the Catch of the Day (tuna sandwich) both days I came, which was fantastic. White meat tuna salad, perfect ratio of mayonnaise, laced with capers, topped with tomato and onion on a hearty whole grain. The first day, my husband got the brisket sandwich & the next day got the Gobble Turkey wrap. Both were filling, well-made, and tasty. You can tell the ingredients are fresh. I ordered cappuccinos both days. Frothy, foamy, creamy milk. Balanced espresso. Truly a divine cappuccino & im quite picky about them. I wish there was a place near me that did cappuccinos like this. DO NOT SLEEP ON THE PASTRIES! The pumpkin bread and chocolate eclair. Omg. The chocolate eclair is the best I've ever had, but perhaps might not be to everyone's liking. It is not a custard filling, but a dense cream & subtly sweet. Seriously gonna dream about these. The pumpkin bread was fought over by my 4 year old, myself, and my toddler. Overall, one of the most positive experiences I've had. I am a bit of a café habitué, spending much of my time alone (and with my babes) in cafes. I love this cafe. I've been coming here for YEARS, every time I visit Woodstock from NYC. They have the BEST maple cappuccino I've ever had. And believe me, I've definitely tried to find one just as good, closer to home. Mon Vert takes the cake. I've mostly stopped by for their coffee, but the few food items I have tried have all been good. Their cookies and other pastries are good, and the North Country BLT was super tasty. This place was always popular, and I'm always prepared to wait on a long line (the coffee is worth it). But in more recent years with TikTok and other social media, this place has become SUPER popular and busier than ever before. During my last visit (Oct 2023), one morning I waited in line for 45 minutes (!) just for coffee, and thats no exaggeration. Of course I'm so happy for them with their business booming, but unfortunately this longer wait time deterred me from going for coffee every morning of my trip like I usually do. The staff is friendly and they do their best to keep the line moving as fast as possible. But I would suggest adding a 2nd cash register (even if JUST for coffee orders), though the space may not allow it, and perhaps this is why they haven't done it yet. Vacationing from Ohio, we stumbled upon this beautiful cafe in Woodstock, VT. Sure, I was on vacation and therefore everything MUST have been so great, but this cafe truly stands out. First, they have a lovely patio with which to enjoy their great selection of drinks. It was morning, so we had coffees, but they were piping hot and delicious. This cafe also has quite a menu, able to accomodate both breakfast and lunch. We had some breakfast sandwiches that came up quickly, were piled high with eggs, sausage, & cheese, and were absolutely delicious. Also, their breakfast potatoes.... YUM! Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to the hype--at all. This place is a textbook example of a tourist trap: overpriced food with mediocre quality dressed up as artisanal. We ordered the brisket sandwich, which was advertised as grilled. What we received was anything but. The bread wasn't toasted, there were no grill marks, and the whole thing came out cold. To make matters worse, the brisket itself was tough, dry, and completely lacking flavor--no seasoning, no sauce, no richness you'd expect from something slow-cooked. The latte was overly milky, with an espresso-to-milk ratio so off that it tasted more like iced milk with a hint of coffee. We also ordered the kids' grilled cheese and the Mt. Hunger salad. Both were fine, but nothing you couldn't make better at home in five minutes. $65 for a sandwich, a salad, a kids' meal, and a weak coffee is too high. We had an excellent breakfast midday on a Tuesday. The veg sausage was extremely flavorful and I had the best English muffin of my life. Most of the food fixins are locally sourced too! I'm not sure why the packaged butter pats come from Wisconsin, but my Sconnie partner and I can shrug that off. The place is adorable too. It was really busy outside under the umbrella tables, but the cooler second story seating was ample, spread out, and downright charming. There are couches with tables, bar seating, and tables for couples or groups. There are water coolers with reusable cups on both the ground and second floors. Some notes on ordering: When you order, the cashier will hand you a pager. If you bought drinks, wait for them at the cashier bar. Last summer, we passed up Mon Vert Cafe due to the gigantic line in the heat. While in Vermont for the eclipse, we stumbled upon Mon Vert again! Assuming it was fate (it was!) we took our chances and waited in the line. We stood in line for about 10-15 minutes, which wasn't bad because it was PACKED. I don't think there's a time that Mon Vert isn't packed! The service was impeccable and the woman who took our order was so kind. The coffee was delicious and had a perfectly balanced sweetness. Ordering food is a little bit chaotic as people crowded themselves in front of the doorway. So you go in order your food first than wait for the food. There are limited seating so if you decided to sit in, have someone find available seat while you wait. But we ordered them to go as it is very crowded. Mushroom, spinach, grilled onions and Cabot cheddar cheese on a multigrain bread. So delicious! The Mont Vert cristo was interestingly good. French toast that sandwiched ham and cheese with a side of real maple syrup. It wasn't what I'm used to for a monte cristo sandwich. All in all, a good meal. All I can say is Mon Vert Cafe deserves the hype it gets! There are no reservations, it is first come first serve. There is usually a very long line during peak hours but it is well worth the wait I promise you. My husband and I stopped by for lunch and sat on their patio with our doggo. Made a stop in Woodstock as we drove up to Stowe and came across this cafe. Several people recommended it on TikTok so we decided to make a stop. I opted to have the Sunrise at Mooney's and a Vermont Maple Syrup Latte with almond milk. Everything about this breakfast was excellent. The home fries were perfectly seasoned and crispy. The eggs weren't over or undercooked. The bacon was crispy and the toast was fresh and warm. The local jelly paired perfectly with everything. My latte was also perfection. I figured the latte might be sweet due to the maple syrup, but I was surprised to find out that it wasn't. The cafe is super adorable and features quirky reading areas. I was looking for a good place to grab lunch while we were in Woodstock visiting the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller NHP. Mom Vert immediately caught my eye due to its large offering of organic, vegan and vegetarian items. It was bustling on a Monday afternoon, but we were able to share a large table with a family of three (it's a seat yourself situation). I ordered the "I Got the Beet" sandwich and a turmeric latte. My wife got the "Maplebrook Mozzarella" sandwich. Despite the cafe being busy, our orders came out in about 15 minutes. My mouth is watering again thinking about my sandwich. It was made with beet hummus, goat cheese, shredded carrots and arugula in a whole wheat wrap (vegan option subs avocado for goat cheese). It was amazing! I also really loved my turmeric latte. It's not an overload like a diner but a petit portion enough for lunch for 1. The salmon was nicely smoked and bread crunchy but not hard. There was a line for lunch so it expect to wait around 10-15 minutes for your sandwich. There's additional seating upstairs as well as a bathroom so if the one downstairs is full - try upstairs. They will give you a buzzer when your food is ready for pick up. Normally I would round up because this is one of the very few coffee shops in Woostock, which is a pretty small town. But that being said, if you're staying at an inn, I don't know that it's worth a visit if you already have access to tea and coffee. To start off with they only have one bathroom for a cafe with so much seating. It's upstairs and there's really no area for a line. The room is large enough that it really should be two stalls, but for whatever reason, they haven't renovated it. Additionally, the service is slow. I mean really slow. Especially if you get someone who wants to ask a question about each one of the "would you like ____ with that" questions the cashier lists when you order food. It would really serve them to remove added questions and have set items to keep down the line. Finally, the baked goods were nothing to write home about and pretty run of the mill blah. While the honey liked his food, I just wasn't a fan of the atmosphere since it was so busy you practically inhaled other people's perfume even while sitting outside.
