We tried the matcha latte and sun king both were decent but the matcha latte was better. We got four sandwiches, the blt, zesto, oink and cluck, and the gobble it up. Everything was pretty tasty. Such a lovely cafe in the heart of Woodstock. We unfortunately visited the town when the other restaurants were closed, so the wait was a bit absurd. But, what do expect when it's prime leaf peeping and Woodstock is the most adorable town to explore. Unfortunately. I don't have photos of our food. But we ate the following: Oink and Cluck Sandwich, Simple Salad, and the Hail Ceasar wrap. First off--everything is local and organic. Which I felt like every restaurant we went to in VT was locally sourced and organic--which I loved! We enjoyed everything we ate. The multigrain bread, freshly baked, hearty and incredibly packed with yummy and healthy goodness. And the coffee was tops--I had the seasonal maple special latte. I really can't get enough of maple flavor anything. It wasn't too sweet and had a great punch of flavor. I wanted to like this restaurant, as we were here a couple of years ago and quite enjoyed our meal. The staff are friendly and the food service was pretty quick. (you order at the entrance, and they give you a locator to place on your table so the server can bring your food to you.) However, the food just was not good. My husband thought his breakfast burrito had good potential, but it was burnt. Not just grill marks, but burnt. I had potato leek soup which was not only bland but also had a definite burnt subtle background flavor. I ate it, but it wasn't good. The accompanying bread was very tasty. I love that they use local suppliers and the ambience is very cozy and relaxed. I'll probably still try this place again in the future; maybe they have a new chef who wasn't on top of things today. read more

This place was bustling in October. The lines wrapped up the stairs, and the wait was over 30-40 minutes to order; however, this place seemed to be some of the best food in Woodstock. They have so many options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We decided to visit multiple times during our visit. I had the smoked salmon and latte for breakfast, went hiking at the national park, and returned and had a Cobb salad. My coffee was strong, and I opted to use maple syrup as my sugar option. Why not? Vermonts known for the maple :). The Cobb salad was full of chicken and bacon with a nice slice of bread. The arugula was so fresh and of course, the cheese in Vermont is fantastic! I especially enjoyed the dressing. It went well with the salad. The food was so good I ate it before a photo, haha. Take a look out the back window. It's a beautiful view of the river. After our bike ride today in the rain, nothing sounded better than some hot chocolate. When we asked the cashier if they had hot chocolate or not he not only said "yes" he said "we have the absolute best hot chocolate" and after having it, we agree with him. We got hot chocolate and a warmed up cinnamon bun! Insane. Sitting outside under an umbrella in the 57 degree weather was nothing short of magical. Busy busy busy on a Sunday afternoon which is an amazing sign for a restaurant like this. 10/10 read more

Pretty sure this is the only place you can get cocktails, a delicious greasy breakfast sandwich, and any kind of coffee you can come up with before 10am in Woodstock. The aesthetic is casual and cozy, and service was very fast. The sake Bloody Mary was one of the best I've had, and the seasonal cider drinks were delicious and not overly sweet. The sausage seemed to be homemade and was excellent, but the muffins were a little dry. We didn't try any other pastries but it could be the meats and sandwiches are better than the baked goods. Great stop for breakfast! Very fresh ingredients and varied menu. My veggie and eggs burrito was delicious and so large that my brother-in-law ate half for me. They had gluten free bread so my sister could have a breakfast sandwich, which she enjoyed and did not share! My brother-in-law had a Mexican Burrito and he said it was good. My only slight fuss is that there was not time for me to read the board that talked about the various coffees before I had to move on since other people were coming in. You order food at the counter, find a table, they bring you food, you bus your table (this is not an issue for me, I clean up after myself at home). I ate the Monte Vert Cristo. Simply, it was a Monte Cristo found in many diners, but better. My wife had the French toast and it too was very good. Both were served with maple syrup. The service was good, the woman at the counter was very helpful and the ambiance was updated rustic. So glad they were the only restaurant in town that was open on a Monday. read more

We came to Woodstock the Sunday before Indigenous People's day. We expected crowds, but didn't expect 90% of the restaurants and cafes to be closed. We came here largely because it was the only place open. Not surprisingly it took almost an hour of waiting inline to order. But the staff was very patient and kind. The banana bread and chocolate croissant were really good. Once we ordered they brought out the food in about 20 minutes, which was shockingly fast given the crowds. We came here and there was a line as there was everyday both for take out or sit in as there is very limited seating upstairs. The food here is all farm to table and there is map out front showing all the places they source their food from. The wait wasn't too bad and the people in front do their best to be helpful. Once inside you plce your order and get a number and if you are sitting inside they will find you and bring it to you . Had oat milk and made a terrific cappuccino. Fife had the Farmer breakfast with lots of yummy bacon and I had the breakfast sandwich with sausage that was so big I had to deconstruct it to get it in my mouth . As far as lunch goes, the bread is definitely fresh, the ingredients are as well, and the whole ensemble comes together with purpose. Even with a thin slice of smoked salmon on the sandwich, the flavor managed to go throughout the entire dish. Took probably 30 minutes to get the food from ordering, so this is not the place to stop if you need a quick lunch. Barring the ready-made sandwiches, of course. read more

A very solid breakfast! We came here twice for breakfast during our stay in Woodstock, mostly bc the other cafe option was closed on Tuesdays. The hot breakfast options are certainly better than the baked goods in the display case, so I would opt for those. The set up of the order counter is a little stressful and it can get very crowded during rush hour, but there's a good amount of seating with the additional upstairs space. Sunrise at Mooney's- a really good bang for your buck. The eggs are a little greasy and the ham was thinly sliced (as if it were meant for a sandwich), but overall yummy West coast sando- I would have preferred runny eggs, so if you don't want over-medium be sure to specify that. I know a woman at the table next to me had them come "runny" on request Croissant- not as buttery or flaky as I would have liked, maybe they were just under baked the day we came Spinach and feta croissant- unfortunately this was a huge miss, the pastry was dense and bready and the filling was a little slimy. I went to open the door and there was a sign that said "sorry but we are out of food and stopped serving food at 1pm". We ordered avocado toast 1/10 - barely any avocado Challah toast 5/10 - meh Brisket sandwich 6.5/10 - was ok And three coffees - total came out to $70. All the food was cold and had been sitting for ten minutes at least. So disappointing and such a waste of time and money - will not be returning. Nice little breakfast and lunch spot in Woodstock. Really friendly staff and very helpful. The menu had lots of options including vegetarian and vegan. The woodsy wrap with eggs, mushrooms, spinach in whole wheat wrap was very tasty. Really tasty egg sandwich with avocado, although be prepared it's messy to eat. Challah French toast was really good. It is a well run restaurant and although it can get busy, they have a good flow so the tables turn over pretty frequently. It's a great fund for breakfast and lunch. read more

We were in town and this place caught our eyes for its quaintness and cozy. I got the coffeehouse brisket sandwich which came in a nice soft baguette. It came with a few small gherkins which added that nice touch. The brisket was cooked perfectly and you can taste each component. My wife got the oink and cluck sandwich on gluten free bread and she too quite enjoyed the simplicity of bacon with chicken sandwich. My son got the chicken quesadilla and he liked the stickiness of the ooziness of the cheese and actually ate the tomato bits in his quesadilla. Alright!!! One year later on our trip to Vermont we decided to try Mon Vert Cafe for a second time and were even more pleased than the first. The tables are first come first serve so we decided to order takeout in case we could not find a table. The food was ready quicker than expected and we were able to find a table upstairs. I got the Verrito and my dad got the Gobbble it Up wrap with bacon. Both of our lunches hit the spot perfectly and we were very satisfied. I also tried the Tumeric Sunrise Latte, which was delicious and unique! Super cute cafe! They have breakfast and lunch, coffee, teas and hot cocoa. Everything is locally sourced, which I love! There are a lot of drink and food options (for adults and kids), and the place is so cozy! I saw several people working on their laptops and others just sipping their morning java while enjoying a newspaper. The girls working the counter/coffee were very friendly. We ordered our coffees and picked a seat upstairs, waiting for our buzzer to announce our breakfast arrival at the pickup window. My white chocolate double latte was nice and frothy, and I love that it wasn't so hot it would burn me (since I really couldn't wait to dive in). It didn't have a strong flavor to it, which is nice since I don't like overly sweetened coffees (:ahem: Starbucks). It wasn't super strong tasting in coffee either, but it had enough caffeine to keep me going! My husband got a cappuccino which he said was frothy goodness. I enjoyed a nice bowl of steel cut oatmeal with Vermont maple syrup (because, duh!). It was delicious! Perfectly filling. My husband had their croissant sandwich with egg, cheese and a spicy chipotle sauce, which he loved. We will most likely be back tomorrow before leaving town- just a cute place, plus i wouldn't mind trying one of their many pastries/sweet treats. In better weather it looks like the patio is nice and dog-friendly. My biggest and only complaint is not having a water dispenser upstairs in the seating area (also watch your step because the floors are NOT level) I got an "autumn foliage" latte- a maple latte with cinnamon and nutmeg. The spices were Really heavy handed and it kind of ruined it, but by the time it cooled off enough for me to try it, my food had arrived and I didn't want to wait another 15 minutes for another latte. The food and coffee is worth the wait and the staff has always been really kind and hard working. That's what keeps me from giving it 3 stars. I came to visit Woodstock for a week, and I kid you not... I was here practically every day. The staff here truly made me feel like a local. The last day I came in the barista even said "your usual?" Instantly I knew I fit in! Not only is their "Butter Queer Latte" incredible, but their breakfast burrito still crosses my mind.
