We came here to meet up with some friends on a Saturday night and I must say that this place was rocking.... An easy trip from Long Island and the parking lot at the end of the street was terrific treat not to have be in a position of looking for a place to park. Getting here early was also a plus. There were so many people having such a good time here. Lots of fun and electricity in the air. We sat down and moments later our server was there to deliver menus and take drink orders. We were just a table full of friends and in no rush to eat. Our server understood that and let us relax, enjoy some beers and laugh. When it came to food, there were enough of us to a great sampling of food. Appetizers: Chicken wings - tasty and well cooked Calamari - crispy coating and tender calamari Onion Soup - delicious and savory Main meals Fish and chips - great crispy coating and tender tasty fish Sliced steak salad - plenty of fresh salad and tasty steak Broiled fish - Tasty fish with a side of veggies. We decided to host a surprise 60th birthday party for a friend here .. and this is how it went , The food is absolutely divine , from appetizers to main dishes , everything is just so tasty . Our bartender and our waitress (Janine) were simply the best people to deal with , so professional yet so much fun . The party room is beautiful and very spacious and that was great . The price was extremely affordable and they were very accommodating to our party size . However I was a bit disappointed with the fact we weren't informed that there was an event before ours and if we didn't have so much help from our friends we would never be able to decorate everything on time before we brought in the birthday person . Maybe a bit more communication would be better next time . All in all was a great experience . read more

The guy at the bar was absolutely rude, racist and unprofessional. He even rolled his eyes when we decided to order na shot of vodka instead of beer. Drinks and food are not for free; so, no matter how you day went, you better take care of your customers. Before coming here I was skeptical, but after eating here it's confirmed that this is one of the worst Irish restaurants on Bell Blvd. Save yourself the time and just go to Donovan's or Maggie Mays. First you walk in and aren't greeted. It's 7 o'clock dinner time you'd imagine, but you can tell the 4 people at the bar basically live there and the bartender is so interested in working there. The atmosphere screams to the fact that you know people come here solely to drink. The food was subpar. The table bread was a mix of iced cold pieces and some Luke warm. The food was almost embarrassing, my Shepard's pie was decent but I've had better. My dad who tends to eat anything with no care to a flavor palette, took two bites of his steak and refused to eat it. He said it was the worst steak of his life and my mother concurred after taking a bite. I would only recommend coming here just for drinks, but I don't even know if they can do cocktails so proceed with caution. read more

Not a bad place! Located across from Donovan's, this place has decent beer on tap and a fairly solid pub grub-type of menu. The sliders were solid, with the panko-crusted chicken being my favorite. The pulled pork slider tasted too much like a sparerib. The beef slider was rather ordinary. Fries were solid. Chicken fingers were more breading than chicken, but I like that kind of ratio. All in all, not a bad choice if you're looking for typical pub fare in Bayside. read more

I watched the Giants/Jets game here and there was a great mix of both fans. A hidden gem off the bar hopping Bell Blvd. Trail. I have been here so many times and had the most fun even when it was dead right before closing. The bartenders are really cool, fun and engaging with the patrons. My friend and I took over the jukebox and saturated the place with 90s hits. The best part: the bartenders sang along while tapping glasses and the other patrons got excited when hearing our favorite hits. On another night I went, they were playing music videos that were a mix of every genre. I also noticed the had the games on other TVs for the other patrons who wanted to know the score. I never ate here, and I did not know they served food until I came to Yelp to make this post. I will definitely try them out food-wise next time I come and comment what I think. read more

This was the first time I have been to Monahan & Fitzgerald. This bar is a quiet Irish pub off of the main strip on Bell Boulevard in Bayside, Queens. Compared to the other bars that are located along this strip, this bar is nothing impressive. They have a pretty standard bar menu accompanied with bar style finger foods. This bar is very reminiscent of a stereotypical Irish pub. So when you grow up one day, you'll have a bar to call your own. This is my bar, whenever someone says let's go to the bar, it means let's go to Monahan's. Whenever I have sundays off, this is where I am to watch Giants game and stuff french fries, sliders, hot and teriyaki wings for hours! They always have a great deal during games for Coors Light ( I love Coors Light ) and wings. They just recently remodeled, at first I was upset because it lost its old-style bar appeal but we now have 6 flat screens on top of the bar to the watch the game and congregate. All and all this where I would spend my time! They also have a hall upstairs you can rent for a nice party, also the dinner menu is delicious! read more

Never used to eat here but decided to give it a go on Sunday for the rubber match of the subway series featuring CC and Dickey. The food is delicious. A must try is the Irish fries. The Blue Point Long Island brew also hits the spot. Minus 1 star for not having Hoegarden, which, by now, should be a staple in every bar. Side note, it was kind of weird cheering on the bombers in a bar with Mets banners and flags. Oh wells...left when it was still 5-4 yanks...before the Mets fans could start cheering. Not a bad bar, not a great bar. Had a few drinks and met some friends. Then headed over to a table for dinner. Bartender was a little rude as we left the bar tab and wouldn't let one of my friends just pay her portion. He came running over to the table and said "here's your bar tab" and left it on our table in a huff. Take it easy pal we ain't gonna stiff ya, we only moved 6 feet away. Anyway moving on....we ordered dinner, I ordered off the octoberfest special menu. Not so good, gravy thick and tasteless, red cabbage was ok.....in retrospect I should have stuck with standard bar fare...... Lesson to be learned.... I dropped in early on a Monday afternoon with some friends because we kept smelling burgers. The food wasn't bad, but I ordered my burger medium, my friend medium well. Mine came out well done, and his came out medium well. Really tough to swallow. I had ordered the MOM burger which came with mushrooms and onions, and between the vegetables and the ketchup I ate a little more then half. Fries were good. The crowd at that time was middle aged working class men, but Fridays are ladies night and women drink free from 12-3am. Rum and coke was $6. I'd go back for the burgers, even though they were waaaay overdone they were still good, which is saying something. read more

Monahan's is usually the first stop for my friends during our Bell Blvd. bar crawls. We typically end up leaving once whatever odd band they've got in there starts playing. Before that happens though, and on many occasions, I have personally seen my friends get into fights when one of them steals another's Irish Nachos (everything you would find on a Mexican nachos supreme, except with potatoes instead of nachos!). We went to this Irish Pub / Restruant for St. Patrick's Day 2014 with friends and I thought the meal was just fine. My only complaint was the Irish Soda Bread: tasted more like cake. My Burger "med. rare" was ok, and I loved the Fries - they had a nice crunch to them, and they were not soggy. My friends had the Corn Beef which they said was moist not dry tasting. The menu was limited that night, all and all the food was good, no complaints from my friends. We meet here every St. Pat's Day, and will keep coming back as long as the food is good. ***One note, the server tried to give us a bill at the end that was not itemized which we handed right back to him and requested he itemize each plate and drinks....what was he thinking - we would just pay any price??? I went there yesterday to have a late lunch only to have a $93 bill for eating nothing very sad, I know the restaurants has to try to make it backup on their feet, but what about the people that have to pay the bill and still go out to eat. My husband ordered a medium-well hamburger. When he got it, it was like leather and hard to chew. He tried to eat it, but just could not. He asked the waiter who also noticed it was beyond well-done, for another burger. This one was almost raw. My husband only ate around the edge of the burger that was somewhat cooked. The waiter came, saw the burger and said "oh, that one is too rare. Sorry about that." So, from two burgers my husband did not have even enough for one. Despite the sign that says they proudly serve five boroughs IPA... they do not serve five boroughs IPA. They serve some horrible sour beer they will proudly serve when you order five boroughs IPA. Also... the bartender will serve you some awful disgusting version of a whiskey ginger and then turn his back, eat pizza and ignore you when you want to complain about this drink. I have grown up with this bar and all of my family members frequenting it at some point buttttttt when two thirds of the bartenders are taking shots all night and the other is eating and ignoring its amazing this bar makes money. As people have said, it is a typical Bayside bar with a typical Bell Blvd atmosphere. With that, it still remains my favorite on the whole block for a couple reasons: 1. The crowd is not as pretentious as some other bars on Bell Blvd such as Brews Brothers or Johnny Famous. 2. It's not too crowded, yet not too dead. In other words, you can move around and have enough space around you to breathe. 3. The staff is really friendly and courteous...something I can't say about most bars on Bell Blvd. 4. The decor is that of a typical bar / restaurant, but it does have some class to it. Overall, it's a good place to have a couple drinks with some friends..they have karaoke on some nights if you are into that sort of thing. read more
