Heard of this place since before they opened because of the brilliant team behind it! Very big fan of their sister DR and finally was in JC and able to stop by. Was packed on a Saturday afternoon / early evening but we were able to score a table. I will say I think they were slightly understaffed given the crowd, we saw our server once throughout the first half of our time there (several minutes after seating + while we were about halfway thru our apps and entrees) but she was absolutely lovely and clearly busy so we weren't really bothered by it. Unfortunately they didn't ring up my partners drink so it never came out (we asked another staff member about it as well but I figure they were busy) but despite the very minor slip the did NOT COMPROMISE ON QUALITY oh my god! 10/10 for all of the food - the frozen margarita was excellent and garnished with tajin, got a salt rim on mine. Divine refreshing and perfectly balanced. The beef Birria tacos? 10/10. Saw a ton of deals throughout the week as well. The vibes are pretty standard, clean, family friendly, but also had a few heads throwing down pints at the bar so definitely a good energy. Fun and cute space at San Patricios. Caame by for a quick bite and saw they have Monday night trivia starting at 7. We joined the game late and had a good time answering their array of questions and games. It was a little bit different which is nice. They do have HH and a Taco Tuesday all day. I was a bit underwhelmed by their tacos though, not a fan of the tortilla and it's pretty small. The salsas were good. The spice bag had really nice flavors, but was way over salted and fries were limp. It's a fun place to hangout with a group and have a drink, good service and space, food was ok. read more

Fabulous ambience. Food was okay, service was okay. It's more of a cantina bar than fine dining. Check the menu beforehand (and the prices). The bar section has great energy, and they have a lot of tvs on the cantina side. The veg enchiladas really should have more than cheese and spinach considering the price. The Mexican street corn came across as boiled frozen corn (rather than fresh, roasted, then sliced off). Beware the queso has chorizo and otherwise it's pretty expensive (NYC prices) but it's not justified. The drinks are really overpriced. They apply a 20% gratuity for a party of 4. They also include another 3% for their health insurance. Why not add a 401k contribution too? read more

Fun vibe, yummy food and great service at this unique restaurant that was a great place for our family to visit for dinner. We had a great mix of food and yummy drinks, enjoyed watching the World Cup and the excitement that the patrons shared. Definitely a place to revisit on our next trip! read more

This place is strictly for the drinks and the vibes. The inside is decorated very well which adds to the experience. After eating here a few times I can say the food is very mid. Some of it is just odd pairing mixing Irish and Mexican (which I'm aware is the point), but that doesn't make it good. Everything is a bit flavorless, bland or just tastes a bit off. The chicken pot pie was ok - a bit dry. The fish and chips had zero flavor - needed salt and more. The ham and cheese sandwich just tasted off. In summary - the place is fine - but don't expect to leave raving about the food. Every time I've been the service has been great though, so definitely an added star for that! read more

Yummy food, their burger comes with 2 patties and with a side of fries. I like their environment, good music too. The service was decent, and their bathroom had very dimmed lighting but was clean. My second time here and it didn't disappoint. It's a Mexican and Irish bar- unique right? That's exactly the vibe you get when you walk in. Came here afterwork on a Friday in-time for happy hour. The drink were ok need more alcohol but tasted good. The atmosphere was nice and the south of the border decor was cute. Overall the food was very underwhelming not much flavor and the portions were very small for the price. read more

Very nice addition to downtown JC, an upscale quality Mexican restaurant. Their drinks are definitely well made but the huge piece of ice is a bit much considering how much you are paying per glass. Definitely get their classic margarita at happy hour it is a decent deal. Every dish I've tried here so-far, is very good and extremely flavorful. The salmon dish is spicy, more than I expected. San Patricios is a new spot that took the place of Hudson Hound, a prior Irish pub favorite of ours. We were excited to give this place a try since it had a unique Mexican cantina/Irish pub fusion story, and it did not disapoint! Came here for Happy Hour and got the chicken curry tacos and fries, along with the Higo spritz. The chicken curry tacos were so flavorful and they didn't skimp on the sauces. The slogan says it all I where Mexican cantina meets Irish pub. Half of the store is dedicated to the living and the other half is dedicated to the Dead. A great concept and also a bit of history in terms of the name. The food is a blend of Mexican items with Irish infusion. For example you can order corned beef tacos. Or a ham and cheese melt. The ceviche is a bit soicy, but just right. You can also get a pub style hamburger. Very good comfort food. The real specialty is the bar cocktails are amazing the cocktail list is very extensive with lots of different options for anything to sooth your palate. The service is attentive and friendly. This place is a lot of fun and visiting is a great experience. We've been back 3 times now. A few teething problems on opening, but nothing significant and they seem to be hitting their stride now. 1. Service for our most recent visit was absolutely fantastic. Great recommendations, friendly and attentive, and contributed to a relaxed and entertaining environment. 2. Food was good. The menu is on the more casual side, in line with the pub/cantina concept. For what they're going for, I thought it was executed well. 3. Mixed drinks were excellent! Interesting and fun cocktail menu. Went there for at 9 for reservation at 9:30pm, sat and waited for date to show up and order a marg. The marg took a while to come out which i didnt mind cause i figured they were waiting for my plus 1 to show up to really serve the table. Date arrives we order more margaritas that take another 30 minutes to get to the table. It was after are 2nd round i decided to get one order of tacos to split with my date but they took so long getting the drinks we decided to just grab the check and go. Love the look of the place but the neglect i went thru was enough to keep me away from especially since the price didnt not match the service imo. What an interesting combo, I thought Mexican & Irish so had to try it. So glad we did. Food was delicious & fresh. We had the guacamole, esquitas (street corn), spice bag, and birra & corned beef tacos. Everything surpassed. Our expectations. I was super excited to hear about the opening of San Patricios, an unique fusion restaurant combining the flavors of Irish and Mexican cuisines and being launched by the team behind the famed Manhattan cocktail bar, The Dead Rabbit. We happened to be in the area for the All About Downtown Street Fair the day after the spot opened, so I definitely wanted to try it. Well, I was not the only person who had had that idea, as the place was packed! As we approached the host staff, who were waiting in the entranceway, I noticed that there were two stools that were facing out onto the street through the large open windows. When we got to the front of the line and asked about the wait for two people, we were told that it would be an hour and a half to two hours for a table. We asked about the bar, which they said was full also. Then, right as I started to point out that there were two counter stools in the dining room, a member of the waitstaff came to tell them the same thing. Somehow the stars aligned, and we were gifted those window seats. The decor in the large bar and dining room was more symbolic of the Mexican culture than resembling something like an Irish pub, and the menu skewed that way as well. In line with their reputation, their cocktail (and mocktail) list was massive, so it made it challenging to decide on something. I wound up starting with the Sol y Raiz, a sparkling blend of pineapple and ginger, which was infused with mezcal. The drink was supposed to be a lighter, spritz-like beverage, but it was extremely sweet and syrupy to the point where I could not finish it, even after I poured water in the bottom half of the glass. For my second round, I needed to transition to something else and went with the Tierra y Pátria, which contained Oro de Coyame Sotol, Pineapple Vermouth, Yellow Chartreuse, pineapple, and angostura bitters. The crisp and alcohol-forward cocktail was much better than my first one. In addition to my beverages, I had a few sips of my companion's drinks. The Margarita Helada was a frozen mango margarita with ripe fruit flavor and a heated tang from its Tajín rim. The Los Colorados was essentially a tasty, spicy margarita that was garnished with a pepper that was much hotter than expected, so please only eat it with care! It was the middle of the afternoon, so we preferred not to eat a full dinner, but we wanted to balance our drinks with some food and decided to share a few items. First, we opted for the Beef Birria Tacos, which were topped with diced white onions and cilantro. The pulled meat was well-marinated and flavorful, but both the tortillas and the sauce were extremely oily. Each bite dripped grease all over the place. Plus, the tacos were miniscule! The fact that they were charging $18 for these three bites was absurd. We also ordered a side of fries, which were perfectly salted, but also very greasy. We were glad that we were able to get into San Patricios and enjoyed the vibe, but our thoughts on the food and drinks were mixed. We would be willing to go back, but would not place it high on our list. read more

Solid brunch! Nice space with a bit of a blingy decor. Tables are appropriately spaced. Had the Huevos rancheros and the Chorizo potato hash. The latter was slightly tomato forward for my liking but still great for a winter afternoon. One issue is they have just black coffee apart from the alcoholic options. I was genuinely excited to try the Irish-Mexican concept, and the space did not disappoint. The decor is beautiful and makes the whole experience very enjoyable. The drinks were excellent, especially the Yellow Field, which was a standout. Given how strong the drinks were and how compact the food menu is compared to the cocktail list, I expected the kitchen to be equally thoughtful and well executed. That's where things started to fall apart. When the food arrived, it was a letdown. I understand this isn't New York and places may adjust to the neighborhood's palate, but this felt overly toned down. The guacamole had no lime, no salt, no heat, no personality. Just avocado with nuts. Two tiny tacos for $12, bland and forgettable. The salmon was overcooked, under-seasoned, and came with "green" rice that tasted like nothing. Maybe the gimmick is Mexican food for an Irish palate, because this felt like Mexican food for people who think black pepper is adventurous. Everything was stripped down until it was lifeless. There's a real opportunity here to be bolder and actually introduce people of the area to real flavors. I'm writing this because the place itself is genuinely cool and has a lot of potential. With stronger, more confident flavors and better executed cooking, it could be a standout spot. read more

Wasn't a fan of the music playing at the time of being there. It was colliding with the aesthetic, just hoping to listen to Mexican music while in there is all. Food wasn't enjoyable to me besides the fries, had to ask staff for utensils and napkins, not sure why I didn't receive them before my food arrived. Overall it's only Mexican in presentation, didn't feel like much thought was put into the process of opening this spot and you're better off somewhere else if you're looking for genuine Mexican experience. read more

The decorations and atmosphere are festive and completely on-theme, the food was excellent (best and biggest tacos I've had in a long time, especially the fish n chips tacos), and the service was friendly and attentive.
