Next, service was great! Shoutout to our Johntrell and the hostess at the front. We took advantage of their happy hour menu and ordered the Who Dat and Pineapple Sage Julep cocktails. Both were pretty good but the pineapple sage was a favorite because it wasn't as sweet. Food: My favorite dish was the Wagyu sliders on the pretzel bun. First time visiting Monday with friends for brunch to celebrate my Birthday. Great vibes here and seems to be a very well oiled spot. Server came quick, introduced himself and told us about the specials. I ordered the Lamb Chops & Grits with a side of shrimp. The lamb was over cooked a bit but the grits and shrimp were great. One of my friends got the lamb as well and his was cooked perfectly so maybe just the kitchen moving fast. I stopped by for dinner on a Saturday evening and sat at the bar. Service was friendly and efficient, and my food came out in a timely manner. I ordered the Chicken Pasta Alfredo, which was creamy and had a nice flavor. I also tried the sweet potato beignets. Every time I pass by Monday it's always crowded with people willing to park a few blocks a way and walk over. It was finally time for me to give it a try. Monday is first come first serve, no reservations, and your entire party has to be there for them to seat you. There's also a 2 hour limit from when you sit down. There's a huge outdoor area which is where we were seated. I came for their Happy Hour which is pretty solid. Most of their drinks are at a discounted price and a select few appetizers were also included. I tried the mojito why was super refreshing! And my friend tried a strawberry beverage. We also got a few appetizers to share: the eggrolls, wings, and truffle fries! All if it was good. My favorite was the truffle fries, you can see how much parmesan and flavor is on them in the picture. After a medium drive from Houston I wanted to unwind and enjoy a happy hour, and it only felt right to try Monday for my first time on a Monday. This was my first food stop for the night so I kept it light so I had room for a beignet later. I ended up going with the boudin egg rolls and pineapple sage julep to sip on while I watched the game at the bar. The egg rolls were nice and crispy and their house made viet sauce really elevated them! I enjoyed the flavor of the pineapple sage cocktail, I should've had two. My bartender was friendly and attentive throughout my time. Monday has a variety of seating to choose from, a charming outdoor patio as well as indoor and bar seating. It's a nice place to catch a vibe, watch a game, hangout with friends or just people watch. I caught an Uber to avoid the headache of finding legal parking. To my surprise, it did come with a large grilled cheese. I realize I didn't specify that I wanted the small gumbo when ordering so I received and was charged for the large one. First off - delicious food. There is no denying that. Now everything else... Service started off strong. Waitress came in loud and jovial and seemed ready to get the job done but it tapered off from there. We had a party of 15 guests so of course things can get easily confused. none of the food came out at the same time, which is honestly a pet peeve of mine because when you have a large party like we did, things can get missed easily. It also took a very long time for our cocktails to come out, to the point where i was questioning if they ever got made. But we did eventually get them. I was personally annoyed and somewhat miserable because all things I ate and drank were pretty much " out of stock " that. I asked for soda water and coffee. She claimed she was out of both those things. If you have cocktails, you have soda water. And what type of brunch place has zero coffee available? I even tried to get an espresso martini and they were out of that as well saying they didn't have the cold brew. I was 0 for 3. Luckily, all the food i wanted was in stock, I got the fried red snapper, Brussels sprouts and mashed sweet potato. Everything was hot and fresh by the time it came out. I also tried the seafood pizza and sweet potato beignets. Very delicious! The beignets tasted like sweet potato pie. Now for the very bad, my friend/one of our party members didn't even get her food at all. She ordered probably the simplest meal out of everyone, chicken and waffles. The waitress claimed it was coming but how long does it take to fry a piece of chicken and cook a waffle? The food was simply forgotten about and she ended up cancelling her order and going without, just eating sides. There was also a man on the clock selling weed to guests, simply unprofessional. I ordered 2 things of gumbo, red beans and rice with smoked sausage, a frozen margarita (just to drink while I waited). I sat at the bar and the guy waiter didn't even greet us just said what you drinking? I said I don't know it's my first time here. He just gave a fake smile no welcome none of that. I looked over the menu and said what would you recommend to eat here he said of course the highest thing on the menu. I looked around at other plates and didn't see any of what he was mentioning. I already knew right then there let me just keep this light m. The gumbo was just broth no actually rue with cup of noodles shrimp in it. The red beans and rice was way too salty. The number of times I've been here, can't believe this is my first review! The atmosphere is different, and I love it! It gives some type of garden oasis, but it's a really nice outdoor patio concept. The food is amazing, and service is great. I've had a number of items on the menu, but the salmon burger is definitely a top choice. Boudin eggrolls are soooo good, and the drinks are always just right. My favorite is the pineapple sage julep. The only thing I would drop a star for is the amount of flies. Had such a great time and the sister restaurant we decided to visit here as well. We were able to make a reservation in advance so that was nice. Short wait time upon arrival to be seated. There was an option for patio or inside, and we chose inside. Seemed to be a little short staffed as server was covering many tables. Unfortunately, we chose to dine there that evening for the oyster special, but was told they were sold out. We also wee unable to order any frozen cocktails on the menu as well. We ordered a few different things on the menu: half roasted chicken, pasta, but most of the group ordered the bienville, which is what I had. Absolute delicious! Comes with one piece of fried catfish that was perfectly seasoned and fried to perfection. The crawfish etoufee that came with it was also delicious and seasoned very well. Initially, I thought the portion size could've been bigger (maybe I was just being greedy because I had heard such great things about the dish lol) but after finishing, I realized it was the perfect amount of food. Not too heavy, and I left feeling satisfied. We also ordered a few sweet potato beignets for the table and yes yes and YES! Sweeter than most of course because of the sweet potato, so I only ate one, but man was it delicious! Tasted like a sweet potato pie and a beignet mixed into one. Will definitely add this to the list of restaurants to visit when I'm in the city. It was a tad pricey for me, and a friend ordered the mimosa flight for a few more $$ --it was a rainbow of colors and seemed like you get more bang for you bucks with 4 drinks. I had the catfish and grits. Fish was fresh and hot, grits were creamy and smooth. Everyone agreed the grits were some of the best we've ever had. And the best part of the morning, in my opinion, the sweet potato beignets for dessert. They tasted somewhat like a funnel cake and seemed to be made with flaky layers of dough. Mmmm. This was honestly the best restaurant I went to during my state in New Orleans. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and everything was 10 out of 10. I was so full from the appetizers that could not even order an entrée, but I did get to sample the lamb chops & mashed potatoes, which were both good. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection. But the star of the show was the sweet potato beignets. I was super excited for these and they did not disappoint. We booked for a hookah experience, but did not see any hookah. They were understaffed so even though it wasn't packed it took very much too long for drinks to come out. The expensive truffle parmesan fries tasted like cardboard and not like truffle in any way. The shrimp tacos were inedible-- rubbery and overcooked, 2 shrimp in one and 10 in the other, shrimp thickly coated in some kind of chili powder, so few toppings that i couldn't even tell they were there on purpose at first.
