Ok My first time here and I felt that the hype may be different than what I thought. We made reservations but since it was the Essence fest it took forever to get here. So by the time we came it was past our reservations. Also, we waited a long time maybe around an hour in the lounge area just ordering drinks where I felt we could have just eaten because after our table was ready they said we could sit there when we were already sitting. They did have a good happy hour menu. However, blueberry lemon drop was very sweet, and the lemon drop. I felt that the drinks were not good but way on the sweeter side and not enough alcohol. For my food, I ordered the happy hour hot sausage taco and salmon. I felt that it could have been better. The tacos weren't all that great or cooked to profession like I thought they would be. I guess since I order just tacos it's really hard to say about the other food options which I heard is really good. So if I do come back to New Orleans and I come back here I will try I entrée instead. Overall, my experience this time was a 3/5. Also, it wasn't really modern and I felt that the bar was very small and tight and I didn't like the seating outside. Street parking. It wasnt too busy when visiting. The host before speaking 2 if them seemed overwhelmed and didnt acknowledge us for a little bit but later came sat us etc. At first once sitting, there was a smell kinda like old wood. Made reservations for a Friday night at 7:30pm for two couples. Lovely drink menu. The blueberry lemon drop was very good! The Dauphine Catfish was a winner. Covered in creamy shrimp goodness. I met with a group of my sorority sisters here-it was recommended by one of them. I had never heard of it & was pleasantly surprised to learn its a Black owned business. The place was packed but we had a reservation and had a table in an area off to the side-the decor aesthetics were super cute. This was my second time visiting Justin's and it was a great experience! The tacos were really good. I got the salmon and seafood tacos. I really love that they also play music videos along with the music. The vibe was everything for a little solo date. My server was very friendly and attentive. The crawfish in the seafood tacos is spicy but the corn balances it well. The salmon tacos had a bit too much coating/seasoning for me but they were still really good. ALL OF MY DRINKS WERE AMAZING! I finally got to try this spot for my friends birthday! My friends and I came here on a Saturday for brunch. It wasn't that packed when we got here, we did have reservations. We were sat in a separate room close to the courtyard so I really didn't get to see the restaurant. It was a little warm in there, it was almost like they needed decor and some cute curtains to block the sun. my back was sweating. They finally turned on the ac and it started getting cooler. It was also a very humid day so that didn't help. We sat by the entrance so we felt all the air through the side room. On a positive note I do want to say that they even personalized the birthday girl's menu to show it was her birthday! I thought that was a cute touch! For food we were going to start with avocado toast but the avocados weren't ready, sadly. The waitress apologized and was upfront. Im happy they didn't just try to make it so much respect. For a drink I ended up getting a lemon drop and then my brunch meal consisted of the steak tacos! If you know me you know I love tacos! The lemon drop was fantastic and the tacos were delicious!! I went yesterday for National Taco Tuesday, but let's be real, I was mainly there for the Matcha Martini. I'm addicted to matcha and when I saw it on their Instagram, it literally lit up my world. First thing I asked when we sat down was if it was available and YES it was! I'd rate the Matcha Martini a 9/10. Huge portions and that glaze? Chef's kiss. Sweet, savory, and perfectly cooked. * Rampart Ribeye Tacos - 8/10. They were good, but the steak didn't wow me like the rest of the meal did. Because of the neighborhood it's in, parking can be a challenge and you may have to walk a block or two but it's definitely worth it. I did get the Expresso Martini flight and it didn't disappoint. It was hard to choose my favorite but I'd have to go with the Blanco as it was a nice middle ground between the regular and the Chocolate. We ordered the Traditional Burger which was very eye appealing as well as delicious. It was cooked perfectly and juicy. The fries were just as delicious. Although we were getting full, I had to try the beignet sticks. OMG!!! Do not pass these up. A huge serving and great price. The prices were reasonable for the atmosphere and location. They had a nice patio outside warm with heaters which is perfect if you wanted to sit outside and enjoy. The service is right on. The space is small so I would definitely recommend a reservation. Half of the room was well done and appealing. The other half had peeling wall paper being held up by tape. I got the blueberry cocktail and it was delicious, one of the best drinks I've ever had. I ordered the press st pasta which unfortunately was cooked to mushed. One stir and the penne would break into pieces. The chicken was really well seasoned and the best part of the dish. We also ordered green tea shots since it was happy hour. Somehow it got delivered to the table next to us and they were shocked about receiving the drinks but accepted anyways. I reminded our server about our shots and she seemed genuinely confused. She asked the other table if they had order shots and which they replied no but asked to keep them. Which is perfectly acceptable considering I wouldn't want drinks that had already been delivered to another table. Shortly after we were informed we'd have to move tables for the next reservation. This is understandable considering their 90 min time slots. Next I went for brunch, first shout out to them for doing a late brunch until 4 unlike other spots in the city that close at 2. I had the catfish dauphine which is just fish and grits with a shrimp sauce over the fish. Now this was good but they did not give enough grits in my opinion and it came with salad but no dressing on the salad. Idk I was like why is there a pile of dry spring mix on my plate when I could just have more grits. You can see for yourself. Horrible customer service. Taschet was not attentive to us at all. We were there for happy hour. Stayed over 3 hours and the waitress never asked to re fill our water glass.
