My impression of Monet's table is great (pun fully intended.) Stopped in for the Saturday morning breakfast. My gf went for the eggs Benedict, I chose an omelette with roast beef and gorgonzola cheese. Both were very good. The anadama bread was good, not too heavy or sweet. We also ordered home fries. The décor and music were lovely. Staff is quick and friendly. Portion sizes are a little on the smaller size, if you're used to eating overflowing plates at the average diner. The trade off in quantity is the quality... This is good food, cooked well, served beautifully. And at a reasonable price. A tasty choice in an area fairly empty of places to eat. We shall return. Hosted an afternoon tea event for 30 women here yesterday and it was PHENOMENAL! The food was not only delicious, but the presentation was beautiful as well! The owner/chef definitely knows how to put together delightful combinations, but also has an eye for detail. Amazing!! She was wonderful to work with. Our server, Cassandra, was fantastic also. She was pleasant & efficient, working quietly in the background. Loved her! The atmosphere of this cute old farmhouse seemingly in the middle of nowhere lends itself well to such an event. I was very disappointed at the food and service. My drink had barely any alcohol in it The special potatoes had very little tiny pieces of eggplant. The worst was the crepe which was filled with whipped cream and you can barely see the tiny pieces of berries. Besides, my husbands meal was as bad as mine. Oatmeal showed up with no nuts or berries in a small bowl. We asked twice for it unti we got it. It's a joke for $60. read more

We arrived at opening time on a weekend day, and had to wait 5 minutes for the door to be unlocked. Nice hostess, very talkative waitress who knew the menu well. Decor is beautiful if you like Shabby Chic/Country/Colonial. Nice artwork on the walls. Me, I'm all about the food, The good "home cooking" food is priced a bit high, although there is great variety. Even Alcohol drinks for Brunch! The famous Mexican Super fries were great, put the portion was small for $7.00. My friend's eggs were overcooked, home fries dry. I'm not sure why it took me so long to check out Monet's Table, but now that I have I will be back again and again. Food was amazing, everything we ordered was flavorful and satisfying. From the butternut bisque made with coconut milk, to the warm winter salad and cabbage rolls, you could not go wrong with anything you order off the menu. Consistently great breakfast in a charming atmosphere. This place reminds me of a casual version of the Altnaveigh Inn. Their omelettes are phenomenal and they always have really unique specials at reasonable prices. This is one of the few places I actually GO to breakfast at, because being Gluten Free breakfast can be a pretty sad affair when I know I can make better gluten free treats at home than I get at restaurants. However, this place is the exception to that rule - they have great GF bread and are very accommodating about allergies. Oh, and I love the mismatched plates and fact that almost everyone gets a different cup. Makes me feel like I'm at the Mad Hatter's tea party or something. read more

Several visits here in the last months have all been extremely positive! I'm delighted that they carry local gluten free bread from Nature's Grocer, but wish their gf menu items were marked. Of special note are their soups! I've recently had a pumpkin, kale,lentil soup and a butternut, apple soup that were magnificent! I love the soup and half sandwich option, but wish there were more half sandwich options. The menu is filled with intriguing choices and combinations of foods! Then you hear the daily specials and find it so hard to choose! Yesterday my pumpkin hummus with grilled eggplant, tomato and baby spinach sandwich was so flavorful! Grilled cheese selections are so delicious! Salmon is done well, never dry and always tender and full of flavor. And the teas! I visited Monet' s Table for lunch with a friend today. We were very excited to learn it had reopened as it is lovely spot with a unique and well prepared menu. I'm looking forward to returning to try their Saturday Brunch which has a great choice of menu options. My friend and I chose the same menu item, something we never do, so I'm afraid I won't be critiquing more than one item but we did each have dessert! We chose the Grilled Pear, Bacon & Cheddar Melt on homemade anadama bread (I asked)! It was served with a small pasta salad. The sandwich was delicious, grilled to perfection with just the right amount of ingredients and a fabulous balance of flavors! The dessert menu changes; we chose a buckle berry cobbler and a white choc pumpkin cheesecake. Both were very good though my friend enjoyed her cobbler a little more than I did my cheesecake which was good. (I myself make a killer pumpkin cheesecake which is hard to beat)! Monet's table is housed in a lovely colonial farmhouse and is a bit off the beaten path but definitely worth a trip from the Hartford area and certainly an excellent choice for a nice lunch close to the UCONN area. There are several working fireplaces and the interior is bright and cheerful. There is an outdoor area that I remember as beautiful in the warmer weather and I look forward to returning and enjoying lunch or brunch on the patio. For the price we paid, we expected to get a lot more. If you plan on getting a plate of breakfast, be aware that it doesn't come with any sides. And even after ordering sides we still felt hungry. A fantastic time to visit because my date and I were seated beside a wonderful warm open fire My Portebello mushroom with winter pesto sandwich was delicious as was our lemon puddings dessert This is a very comfortable spot to enjoy a lunch date because of the fire and the tables which are not all crowded in together. So with that being said I was really looking forward to treating ourselves here. The only people was I didn't see that they were closed on Sundays. How can that be. Great Service! But -- Terrible Food and Terrible Cocktails at Saturday Brunch!!! I'm giving this restaurant 2 stars, one for the excellent wait staff, and one for the location and pretty decorations. The food and drinks were waaay below average. I went a few weeks ago for Saturday brunch with my wife and her friend. Starting with our $10 drinks, they were in the smallest glasses possible!! And, the drinks definitely did not have a full shot of alcohol. My wife's coffee drink had the only lightest splash of Kahlua, she could barely taste it! My wife's friend said her bloody mary was totally lackluster with no spices and only the lightest splash of vodka as well; she could barely taste it. $30 worth of MINISCULE drinks -- NOT WORTH THE $$$. The food was the same way. My wife and her friend ordered omelets, which they both said were overcooked, practically tasteless, with the smallest amount of ingredients possible, and they've had waaay better omelets at hole-in-the-wall diners! Also, the dishes came with two small pieces of bread that weren't even buttered, and NO side of home fries, which most places include for free. As for me, I ordered lobster eggs benedict, which also were terrible. The poached eggs were overcooked and were on two miniscule pieces of bread, with three tiny pieces of lobster, three skinny asparagus stalks and two small tablespoons of the most bland and tasteless Bechamel sauce I've ever had. Also, each of our meals were NOT hot, and only lukewarm when they got to us into the bargain. I'm sorry but smiling, efficient staff and nice decor doesn't make up for the blandest tasting, smallest portions of expensive food and smallest expensive drinks possible. This restaurant has got to vastly improve the quality and taste and increase the quantity of its Saturday brunch food if it's going to continue to charge the high prices that it does. read more

Comfort and beauty is all I felt the moment I walked into this 1750's farmhouse to meet a friend for Saturday brunch. The sparkling clean antique charm is captured perfectly in this home turned restaurant. The food had the flair and was quite unexpected. I had a perfect and delicious omelette; inside was caramelized apple, asparagus ham and brie. I would have never expected this combination and it was stunning. There is always a cozy homey feeling when we come in for lunch at Monets Table. The ladies seat us with a smile and it is always fun to hear the specials they have available. I have to say my favorite is the warm dressing spinach salad. It is easy to make dairy free by leaving off the feta and the nuts are large and are the perfect addition! My mother in law likes it because it is not loud and she can hear when we are talking. The hot tea comes with a little teapot and differing cute teacups. I was here a very long time ago. From the other two reviews, I can tell it hasn't changed. Monet's Table is in the middle of nowhere. It's a big beautiful house with a garden (and some sweet cats milling about). When you go inside it's like having dinner at home, except a much nicer home (nicer than mine at least). There are several intimate tables set up on the first floor of this beautifully decorated house. The food is excellent. I can't remember everything I have had there because it was so long ago, but I know that I was pleased with everything I've ordered there. It is a unique and wonderful place to go and dine. Stopped here for breakfast/brunch on the way to the White Mountains from NYC and it was perfect. The setting is beautiful. You pass a farm on the way from the highway (only a few minutes drive) and the property has a nice yard with outdoor seating. The restaurant is in a nice house and the food smelled amazing when we walked inside. Everything we ordered was high quality ingredients and well executed. I especially liked the house baked bread that came with the eggs. Home fries cost extra and overall it's pricier than your standard diner, but in this case you are getting what you pay for and in my opinion it's worth it. read more

Yelp led us to this charming, lovely farmhouse restaurant on our way from Boston to NYC. I just had the most delicious turkey, avocado, cheddar sandwich EVER along with a very tasty pecan rice salad. My particular and vegetarian husband thoroughly enjoyed his oatmeal and beet burger and raved about the coffee. Efficient and friendly service. Reasonable prices and a calm, welcoming setting. From the minute you see the relaxing gardens until you are wished well by the attentive staff you understand why this gem is called Monet's Table. We told the staff that we were in a bit of a hurry and they were very accommodating - you could see most people were lingering over a leisurely lunch - my husband had the crab cakes and I had a BLT on homemade bread - truly fabulous with a wonderful pasta salad side - but there were also soups, salads, other sandwiches and entrees to explore. I hosted a baby shower at Monet's Table last weekend & it was a hugh success! I chose the 'tea party' theme and the place was set up & decorated appropriately. I really had very little need to do any further decorating at all, as they really did it all. They were very accommodating for what I wanted and Lisa was extremely helpful that day in helping me set up and offering good suggestions during the planning process prior to that, since she had a lot more experience with this than I did. The food was excellent & all the guests were impressed. I had one guest who eats gluten free only & they were excellent about making sure she had a great meal as well. Monet's Table is exactly what this area needed - you'll love the eclectic menu consisting of fresh, great-tasting food at reasonable prices. I've just visited for the first time for Saturday brunch, and tried two very different dishes - the Egg Sandwich with bacon and the French Toast stuffed with white chocolate, raspberry, and cream cheese in a maple wildberry sauce. The Egg Sandwich was cooked perfectly; simply put, it was far superior to a typical Egg Sandwich that you'd get at other places. As far as the French Toast...just look at the ingredients...how can that not be delicious? I would have preferred to pay with Credit Card; however, since ~95% of the menu items are $10 or less, paying with cash isn't much of an issue (they also have an ATM onsite). I'd also like to see the place open for dinner, but until then, I'll take what I can get! I look forward to trying out the lunch menu very soon. read more

What a gem Monet's Table is! It's set in a farmhouse built in the 1750s with a beautiful garden of flowers & herbs. Inside is an enormous fireplace and separate dining areas with charming artwork from local artists. I had the crabcake sandwich which was an open faced sandwich with homemade bread which was delicious. The bread was so good I bought a loaf to bring home (it was still warm from the oven!) Everything is made from scratch with quality ingredients. It feels like a great treat to dine here but the prices are very reasonable. Service is very friendly and attentive. In fact I was waiting outside in the gazebo for my brunch date and one of the waitstaff came outside to check on me & to see if I wanted to eat outside. I can't wait to go there again! read more
