The AYCE is about $3 more than just one order of the meat mongolian bbq, so we said why not. Not gonna lie, we were mostly tempted by the free flowing soft serve they had for dessert. They had assortments of meat, beef, pork, chicken and lamb and what was really nice about the meats was that they were mostly leaner cuts. I usually hate when places offer really fatty meats so this was a nice change of pace. I really enjoyed the beef and lamb, really tasty! There's also lots of veggies to choose from and plentiful sauces. Wait time is reasonable, as there was someone readily available to cook our dishes for us. I didn't really try any of their other items that they had displayed at their AYCE, the bbq was enough. Overall, I'd say it's a good deal. Not worth the price of admission. Salad/dessert bar area was very disappointing - jello looked like it had been sitting out for days and the eggrolls were nasty. Softserve tasted like frozen Coolwhip. The only plus is that there is no stingy owner breathing down your neck to see how much meat you cram into your bowl. read more

So I gave this place a second try, this time with my son. We went during a weekday lunch. Still the same old' Mongolian BBQ. Had to ask for more pocket bread since they only give you ONE at a time. This still bugs me, since all the other Mongolian BBQ places I've been to, they give you at least 2. I mean, how CHEAP do you have to be?? What made me almost want to throw up, and for this reason, I will probably never dine here, was the restaurant and some customers' lack of cleanliness. Two men, who looked like their profession was painters, walked in, ordered and went straight to the buffet. Their hands were COVERED in paint and were grey-black from their construction work. They looked absolutely disgusting. Yes, I get it, it's their lunch hour. They probably only have an hour. But really?? Seriously??? They touched everything, obviously...the tongs to get the meat, the vegetables, even picked up some that fell out and put it back INTO the pile. I just can't imagine going back there again...yes, I know, at buffet style restaurants, everyone touches the serving utensils. However, I doubt the restaurant ever replaces or clean the utensils throughout the day (hence, the stickiness of the utensils) so that's just too disgusting for me. Really solid Mongolian BBQ. Used to frequent this place with my buddies when I was in high school. They have all the basics you could want in a Mongolian BBQ place, and they do a good job cooking it. Then again, it's rather hard to brutally mess up Mongolian BBQ. Some bonuses are the soft serve and the Chinese sesame pocket pastries. Food was okay...Their appetizer selection ("you can pick two") was a selection of two - a wonton and an eggroll. The soup was watery and salty. The decor hadn't been changed since the 70's when they obviously opened their doors. The mongolian barbeque was good, but I think that's the nature of mongolian barbeque. Its good because you put in it what you like. I'd go here again because of convenience...but it's not a fine dining experience by any stretch of the imagination. read more

We usually drive about 45 to an hour to one of our favorite Mongolian BBQ spots. The drive sucks so we decided to give this place a try. That was a mistake! Used the hottest sauce and my food tasted bland. Had to put pepper, sriracha, and soy sauce to give it any flavor. (Even the soy sauce was low on flavor). Also some of the veggies seemed less than fresh. The place seem pretty dirty for an A. The mall chains for Mongolian BBQ are way better than this place. Only thing nice good about this place was the staff. Friendly nice and attentive. We know for next time to just stick it out and drive the distance! read more

Mongol King is delicious. I have come in here several times and have always had a good experience with both the food and the customer service! I would definitely suggest checking their daily hours before coming in because they DO vary and it can be hard to keep track. With that being said, when you do come in, there are several places to eat inside, although I usually take the food to go. Your meal comes with rice, a fortune cookie, and bread - delicious. The food is relatively straightforward and the meats provided are beef, pork, turkey, chicken, & lamb. It's your standard "Mongolian type grill" place, but what I like about this establishment is that they have an AYCE feature. I always get at least 2 bowls of meats & veggies and skip the noodles. Read the reviews and my coworkers did not like this place but I did not listen to them because I wanted to try it for myself. Seems like they don't put out the meats during lunch time on Saturday. Limited options make this a bad deal. Was not offered or given any bread, rolls, or whatever else others have mentioned that comes with the AYCE option. They will give you a bad look if you grab the wrong plate. Service was slow as well. Owner present but also not very friendly or inviting (an older Korean man) So I just felt that it would be better to just leave. This type of place is better off at a mall food court or part of an Asian buffet. Oh well there are better places. read more

I have gone there since it's opened in 1989 and this place is as good at it gets! My brother and I always make a point of a Big Wok trip every time we come home and it never disappoints. It is by far the best Mongolian Wok restaurant as it has the best selection of meats, veggies, and sauces which neither of us has yet to find in another big city. read more

Pretty awesome place! Food was piping hot, which I absolutely love! The toppings were pretty decent, but lacked a few things I like, but I will come back and see if it depends on the availability. -1 star because there was no self service for drinks and the server was not on top of refills (definitely needed if you chose jalapeños and angry dragon sauce). Sesame bun was very nice, the same for the egg rolls. Everyone raves about the soft serve ice cream, but I was so full that I almost requested to be rolled away. Definitely coming back! read more

I grew up in Torrance and this is one of the few places I've gone to again and again. I don't live here anymore, but I always stop by when visiting now. Whether you are vegetarian, carnivore, paleo, or keto, you can make the perfect meal here. Take it from me, add the BBQ oil to every bowl you bring up, at least one full scoop. Another trick of the trade is to stuff the little bread things they give you with food from your plate, you can rip off the top and then you have a little pocket bread. read more

Sometimes the place is empty and sometimes it is packed; especially during peak lunch and dinner times. The food is cooked teppanyaki style and sometimes the line gets long but it always moves and is worth the wait! They serve beer and wine as well. Cane here for the first time and it was delicious... The staff here was fantastic, they helped us put our plates together and gave us tips on how to improve the flavor... I went to this place because I wanted to eat some mongolian bbq. It wasn't the first time here, but it has been awhile since I went there. Well food wasnt terrible but i noticed they dont clean up the grill when they cook on it. Also it wasnt a busy night. There were about 3-4 groups of ppl including us. Food was ok, but the service was terrible. I guess there isnt many people serving food and beverages but the only waiter they had just stayed at the register playing with his phone entire time. I only got the 1 bowl thing so i decided to finish my meal at home since I lost my appetite but when I wanted a check and a box, he just said that they dont serve takeouts anymore and to-gos are no longer exist. I said okay and tried to pay and leave without touhing my 2/3 left food. I lost a lot of appetite after seeing all the burned grease getting into my food and trying to get attention at the only waiter for refills which took a quiet awhile since he never cameby and kep dissapearing. As i finished paying and about to leave the place there were people getting take outs. I expected that guy turning them down but i guess take outs do exists on certain ppl. I dont think ill be going back there again. It completely ruined my night out. read more

This is hands down my favorite mongolian barbecue. It has the best selection of meats, vegetables and sauces (not necessarily the most). There service is okay, but they are very nice and personable. Sadly, it has gotten more expensive over the years, but still within a reasonable price if you can actually utilize the "all you can eat" factor. I go there whenever I can, and I love it just as much as the time before. One more thing, if you had gone there a couple years ago, and were unhappy with the food/service, try it again (if you like mongolian bbqs), because the new management definitely improved both. read more

We've been making the long drive down PCH to Mongol King from SP for years at least once a month. The place is always clean and well stocked with fresh meat and veggies. The chefs (or whatever they are called) cook it just right, and the owner/manager and employees are so nice and attentive. Your drink will barely run out and they will ask you if you want a refill and you never have to sit with a dirty plate for very long. I only wish Mongol King was a lot closer. If you're a meat eater, in general "Mongolian BBQ" is probably a big favorite for you. Mongol King has been around in Torrance for quite some time. The place is very simplistic, not much of a "wow" factor. The food quality is fair but you definitely get a bang for your buck, especially during lunch hour. Mongol King is a place to be when you're really craving greasy fatty american style asian food with large portions and at a cheap price. Recommendation - Beef and chicken, with pineapple, onions, green onions, w/ the spicy sauces (dragon, spicy, ginger, mongo, garlic water) for flavor. read more

I have been coming here for years and I am surprised I never reviewed it. Mongol King is a great little Mongolian BBQ restaurant that is relatively close to me. Its one of those restaurants where even if I am completely full I cant stop eating until they take away my plate. I usually go for lunch and get the all you can eat option not because I really need that much food but that even after all these years I have not mastered the balancing act it would require to get everything in one bowl. I rarely eat the sides they give you with the all you cant eat portion because they arent that good and its not worth taking up that room in my stomach haha. I do wish they did not require you to get all you can eat on the weekend nights as I went with my wife and she would not have ordered that much food. I look forward to my next visit but I will make sure its for lunch on a weekday for now on. read more

love this place! come here with family and friends. the food is good, you get white rice and miso soup (: it's a small place but with good food. I like it better than the ones at the malls because the guys that stir fry the food actually clean the stove top so your food isn't mixed with someone's leftovers. they also have eggrolls which are pretty good. for desserts they have jello, brownies and ice cream. read more

We had never been here before, and will never return. We arrived at around 8:15pm and the place was fairly crowded. Once we looked at the buffet type all you can eat food, we should have left but we didn't unfortunately. Everything was sloppy and some of the bins were empty. Food was dropped between bins, sauces were dripped everywhere and the floor was sticky. The meat was just about gone. I found it to be pretty disgusting. So you get your food and put it in a bowl, put sauce on and hand it to the guy who cooks it on the Mongolian BBQ. The bbq itself had burnt food all over the top and the guys cooking looked really angry and weren't friendly at all. I hardly took anything because I thought I might get sick from the food....really. Given the place closes at 9:00, but they should keep it maintained until closing. It grossed me out big time. The food actually tasted pretty good and I didn't get sick, but this was not a pleasant experience and overpriced! I recommend Big Wok Mongolian BBQ in Manhattan Beach....so many more choices, always clean...and the same price. read more

Once I ate in for dinner on a Saturday night $13.99 all you can eat (over $15 after tax) and another time I took a singe to-go plate for lunch on a Tuesday $10.89. The all you can eat lunch is only $9.99 (I am pretty sure those are the prices the lady told me). I wanted to post the prices because I didn't see them anywhere in the restaurant. Really friendly staff. Food tasty (it's what you put on your plate!). Meats are really thin cut. Lots of sauces to choose from. I will return I just wish the prices weren't so high. read more

Me and a few of my friends went to eat here in the middle of the day and the man running the place was smoking a cigarette outside and, while people were still eating inside, refused to serve us because "it was too hot inside"... It's been a while but I remember the food was good. It's entertaining to watch them cook the food you selected. I would go back again.
