Thin-crust lovers will like this place, the crust is crisp and wonderful when eaten at the restaurant, but if you get a carry out, it quickly picks up the flavor of the cardboard disk it is served one. So if you plan to get a pizza to-go, request that they cover the cardboard with foil so the flavor transfer does not happen. if you are a big eater, plan on getting a large pizza for yourself and one for each and everyone else at the table. This is the epitome of a thin-crust pie. the cheese and sauce and other toppings are also thin, but it works together very well because the flavors of each compliment each other instead of covering and hiding the subtleties. They have some great family offers, you can get a large pizza, a huge bowl of salad, and a pitcher of soft-drinks or beer for a very affordable cost in their "Family Pleasers" package deal. A great family place to dine-in. Parking is bad, it is a gravel/dirt lot with lots of potholes and puddles in it, no parking lines are drawn so it is a free-for-all when it comes to parking. It is very common for some idiot to park you in by blocking your way out of the parking spot. This is not an independent restaurant, it is a franchise. But there food and products are all good, nothing spectacular, just very good and very consistent. You can expect everything to taste exactly the same from visit to visit. Expect a wait to be seated in the busy summer months, but it is a wait worth waiting, this is not the best pizza in the world, just the best for the Minocqua, Woodruff, Arbor Vitae area. read more

Wisconsin Northwoods thin crust pizza joint. We had the Monical's Delight pizza. The crust, sauce, cheese and toppings were excellent. Friendly staff. The restaurant, seated on a lake, is not particularly fancy on the inside. With that said, the focus of Monical's is clearly the pizza. I have given them one star because zero is not an option. The pizza is marginal at best, the sauce has too much sugar and the pan pizza is cooked enough. The service was horrible, although the place only had two other tables seated and one person at the bar it was at least 10 minutes before we were asked if we wanted anything. We visited Monicals with a group of 12 last night for pizza . 36 drinks, 24 shots of tequila, 2 baskets of garlic breadsticks and 4 pizza's. The pizza was excellent, but the Parmesan cheese was stuck in the shakers- requiring each person to bang it on the table in order to get cheese out. While it was an inconvenience, our group still managed to enjoy the meal. Sadly, 2 slightly overweight and balding drunks at the bar claiming to be owners, threatened us with physical violence and then removed the cheese and pepper shakers before we finished our meal. We were bullied, told our apologies were "not accepted" and that we would never amount to anything in life. They followed us to our cars, and exposed themselves for who they really were as we drove away. I gave the decor one star and the server 5 stars, I cried most of the night. read more

Our favorite place to go for pizza in the Minocqua area. My family enjoys a thin crust pizza and this place really makes a great one. My only complaint is that like everything else, the prices keep going up, and up, and up...but I've been called a cheapskate before...Have not really tried any of the other items on the menu so can't comment on those....Place is usually busy if not packed so thats a good sign!!! read more

I ate here for the first time a few weeks ago, and it was exquisite. The server was very polite and helpful, and the pizza was delectable. I went with a friend, and rather than getting two separate large pizza's to ourselves, we were easily able to split one pizza and combine the different toppings for ourselves. The atmosphere was very pleasant, it smelt aromatic in the building, with the scent of sweetness and of course delicious pizza. I loved the layout of the interior, the lights surrounding the walls were very pleasing. Our order was taken, made, and delivered to our table in a very timely manner. My only negative is that I've only eaten here once!! I will definitely be stopping in sometime in the nearby future, you can never pass up a tasteful slice of pizza! read more

Stopped in on our way up to the family cottage 30 miles further up the road. Been driving past this place for years. Always knew it was there but never heard anyone talk about it. Others mentioned they would order for pick-up and eat in the car on their way back home from a weekend up north. We had good food and good service. Nice beer selection, too. Really good pizza. I am a pizza snob, and I gotta say Monacal's is excellent thin crust pizza. I came expecting bland toppings and card-board crust. Instead, we got crispy, tasty crust with delicious toppings. Far better than I would expect in the Northwoods, and probably the best I have ever had in Wisconsin. My kids are also "pizza snobs" and insist this is the best pizza they have had outside of Chicago. Service was great, as well. We got our Guinness drafts promptly after sitting down, and the salad arrived within minutes after ordering. Pizza came out as soon as we finished the salad. So we did not experience the service issues described by others. But we were there in early January, with no crowds. I could see how on a busy night service might suffer in the way described in other reviews, but I have seen that happen at a lot of otherwise fine establishments. read more

Really confused by the good reviews. Last year we tried this place and we were underwhelmed. Decided to try again and really wish we hadn't. The pizza had no flavor. Bland, hardly any sauce and truly tasted like the cardboard it sat on, We ordered a large pepperoni pizza and I bet there were only 8 on the entire pizza. We also ordered the breadsticks with extra marinara sauce and paid extra for it. When my husband asked about it before carrying out, the waitress looked annoyed and said it was in the bag. HORRIBLE! Worst pizza in the Northwoods! It was too bad that the MINOCQUA PIZZA COMPANY was closed so we decided to give this place a try. Wrong! We should of went down the street to KWIK TRIP for their 5 for $10 frozen pizzas! We ordered a pan style with extra cheese and sausage, and when the pizza came, we even asked the waitress if the cook forgot the extra cheese. VERY SKIMPY on that and the sausage too. She came back and had the nerve to tell us that it was extra cheese. If we wanted more we should of said "double cheese"! Well excuse me! I have been eating and ordering pizza forever and when you say extra cheese AND GET CHARGED FOR THE EXTRA TOPPING that means extra cheese. I would hate to see that pizza without saying "extra cheese please"!!! It was more like a pan of bread sticks with sauce on top! That is what we should of ordered and saved $20 as our bill was $35 with two Cokes! The pizza from this Illinois-based, tourist trap chain is average at best--and a lousy value. I ordered a one-topping pizza the other day--half sausage and half Canadian bacon. Got charged for two full toppings. When I asked them about it? "Tough luck! That's our policy when you inconvenience us." My policy is to avoid this tourist trap rip-off like the plague.
