Given he does the work by himself (although he has good contacts to perform related work -- e.g. electricity, plumbing, flooring etc.) it may take a little longer to complete a job than a team of employees, but he shows up every day and works very long hours. I was ready to give up on my small Kitchen remodel until I contacted Roberto. Note: I rarely ever post reviews but after more than 5 estimates I was so pleased I had to write this up for a great contractor. The surprise estimates from bigger established remodeling companies for a small 10 x 10 L-shape kitchen remodel and 'simple' bathroom fiberglass tub replacement averaged well over 20k for kitchen and 10k for bath (including labor and material). I had all but given up until I inquired about 'refinishing' with Roberto. After quoting / purchasing all the material, ie. countertop, cabinets, backsplash, sink and hardware the completed cost still came in well below the prior estimates. This included replacing cabinets instead of refinishing and still allowed room in the budget to upgrade a few extras like, new electric range and hood, lighting and better tub and fixtures. I was in the middle of remodeling my kitchen and initially I was going to leave the original cabinets in. They did not look too bad until I added new quartz countertops, so now the cabinets looked old. So I contacted Roberto to refinish them. After going over the pricing, he came up with the idea of installing new cabinets under the quartz countertop for less than the refacing cost! So that is what we did and the result is very nice. I was so pleased, I had him install a new vanity in the bathroom and also do the same for the kitchen and baths in another rental property I own. One nice thing is that he did not mark up his contractor cost for the cabinets, so I just paid for his labor, which was very reasonable. I agree with the other 5-star reviews, and then some! Our kitchen was 50 years old, with cracked countertop tiles and broken drawers. Roberto is a craftsman, a perfectionist, and a gentleman. First of all, whereas the rep sent to us by one of the big-box warehouse stores actually argued with us when asked for the cabinet frames to be refaced in a burgundy color, saying "you don't want red, you'll never be able to sell your house!!!" (apparently they don't make the traditional wood laminate in that color, so they try to bully you into one of their available colors), Roberto had a work-around (in addition to having a better project price than the "name" cabinet companies): Burgundy formica. Formica is more durable than wood anyway, so we were thrilled he could get that color. He did all the cabinet installation himself, and it was a pleasure having him in our house for the 2+ weeks. He put tarps on the floor and hung tarps from the ceiling so dust wouldn't enter the rest of our home, replaced all the doors and drawers and added slow-closing hardware, added new cabinets with glass doors that he fabricated himself over the peninsula, listened to and accommodated our unusual add-on requests (building shelves under the countertop, adding formica to the storage room door) and charged a reasonable fee for those add-ons. He made sure all the doors and drawers were carefully aligned, all the formica seams were impeccable, and even surprised us by making kick-panels under the bottom cabinets by bonding formica to thin strips of wood. He met us at Cheer Countertops and spent time with us choosing the right granite slabs. On top of that, the subcontractors he brought in to fabricate and install the countertop and install the new sink were just as precise and professional as he was.
