    Outside table. Wonderful.

This place continues to shine. The pasta is (obviously) made in-house by people who know how to make it, and every menu item -- be it a nightly special or a regular dish -- is special. Whether you sit indoors or out, you're in for a treat and exceptional customer service. On our most recent visit, I couldn't tell who was actually serving us. Both owners came to our table to ensure that everything was up to par (and it was). We also had a server who checked on us regularly. I've eaten Italian food in many different places, including Italy and NYC. This place -- with a little French infusion -- is among the best I've savored. I'm not sure why it's not listed by the Houston Chronicle's Top 100 Restaurants or nominated by the James Beard Foundation. But I intend to change that.

For Italian food in Kemah, this is our go-to place. Everything is cooked fresh. The flavors are packed in. The portion sizes are not Americanized but yet you don't leave hungry. The menu has a decent range of dishes for every palette. They do have a small wine list but you can also bring your own and pay a $15 cork fee. The restaurant itself is small and decorated with various photos of Mona Lisa (the one in the bathroom is my favorite). The owners are Guglielmo and Fanny. He's Italian and she is French and are such a cute couple. Bottom line - Absolutely delicious food in a quaint restaurant that feels like home. Love it. We go often. Bon appétit, y'all.

Thank you again for the amazing pasta. The spaghetti and fusilli bolognese were perfect for my son and I. The baguette bread was great with it. Thank you for the tour of the pizzeria! I love the decor and the I can't wait to try your Neapolitan style pizza. We continue to wish you and much success!!!

I met a friend here on her suggestion. The hubs and I arrived early, so we walked in and was told that we could sit wherever we'd like. So we grabbed a table next to the wall. The staff was very nice, and informative. I had some sparking water and the hubs ordered a coffee. A warning about the coffee, its espresso based. I, love espresso, but my other half thinks it too bitter. He did drink it, but I could tell it wasn't his favorite, it tasted good to me. After my friend arrived, we ordered an appetizer followed by our lunch. Appetizer: Burrata and added the prosciutto de parma for a small up charge. It was served on a bed or Arugula. The burrata was very good and pared very nicely with the prosciutto. It was some of the best burrata that I've ever had. They also served bread on the side. Dinner: Me: Spaghetti and meatballs. Usually you get like 2 or 3 large meatball when you go places. They had small meatballs and they gave you plenty of them. Also the spaghetti was homemade. You can tell, thats for sure. It had a nice bite to it. I was very happy with my meal. Hubs: he had Lasagna and said it was really good. I tasted it and wasnt a fan, but I also dont like Italian sausage or Italian spice mix and it tasted like it had one of those things in it. And even in saying that, it was well made. They seem to take pride in what they serve. Its a nice little restaurant if you want some good Italian food down in Kemah.

The most authentic Italian restaurant in the area the staff is very friendly and the owners care so much about the quality of the food. I would absolutely recommend this place.

Monna Lisa Trattoria is a charming little spot with so much personality. The decor alone was fun to take in, and the cozy atmosphere makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. I went with a group of six, and without even planning it, we all ordered different dishes. This was perfect because we all got to sample a little bit of everything. Every single bite was so good that I couldn't pick a favorite. When I eat out, I usually eat half and save the rest, but this was one of those meals I happily finished in one sitting. Our server, Noah, absolutely made the experience even better. He was sweet, attentive, happy to answer all our questions, and kept the bread coming until our bread loving selves were fully satisfied. We spent a long, leisurely evening enjoying each other's company and never once felt rushed. From start to finish, it was a wonderful dining experience.

The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I feel they could use more help. I walked in and it took a while to get acknowledged. The inside was small and very hot, because of the open kitchen, so we were happy to sit outside. Our server, Noah, was amazing despite being pulled in so many directions. He was sweet and kind and very knowledgeable. The food was fresh and delicious and you could tell it was homemade. We will definitely return to try some of the other dishes!

Great food and very friendly service from Franchesco. I heard about it from Google Reviews, and most certainly lives up to the many recommendations.

Special of the day Pasta alla Siciliana
    Vivian H.

My husband and I just visited Monna Lisa Trattoria, cozy little restaurant right down the Kemah Boardwalk. The place is beautifully decorated, and the waitress was super nice and welcoming. We started with eggplant parmigiana, the flavor of the sauce was so intense and the eggplant was almost sweet, it was spectacular. We ordered the lasagna and Pasta alla Siciliana. The lasagna was delicious, the pasta was great, the sauces on point, it's been a while since we've had a lasagna this good. Pasta alla Siciliana, with catch of the day: Pompano, cappers, Kalamata olives and cherry tomatoes, pasta al dente, this was to die for. This is a new place in Kemah, I'm so glad we came to try it out, we will be back definitely.

We made a reservation ahead of time although on this particular Friday night it wasn't very busy. Its better to play it safe though!!! To start, I ordered The Fancy Martini. It was STRONG which is exactly how a martini should be but also really smooth and delicious. A great way to kick off the meal. For appetizers, we ordered the Wagyu Wontons and wowwww these were fantastic. The wagyu was so tender and practically melted in your mouth. It was rich and flavorful and just overall perfectly balanced. We loved it! We also shared the Crab Rice which ended up being our favorite dish of the night. It wasn't what I expected at all. The rice was almost saucy with a consistency somewhere between a rice dish and a stew, in the best possible way. The sweet chili sauce added the perfect amount of sweetness and flavor and (most importantly) they were very generous with the crab. We also tried the Crispy Potatoes. I was expecting smaller potatoes or maybe sliced potatoes but instead they are large, crispy potato rounds smothered in garlic aioli. They were delicious. The portion was huge and definitely shareable. To finish, we ordered the Butter Cake for dessert. NO NOTES! It was buttery, fluffy, warm, everything you want a cake to be! The perfect ending to the meal. Our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and offered great recommendations throughout our dinner. We were also lucky enough to be seated by the window around sunset which made for a beautiful atmosphere. The entire restaurant has such a cool, stylish vibe that you almost forget you're in Galveston.

Most of the menu ingredients are locally sourced, always a plus. The food offerings range from brunch to lunch, dinner, seafood, salads, burgers, etc. They've got a wide ranch of cocktails, mocktails, and more as well. For brunch I have had the fruit kolaches (with cream cheese) and they are amazing. Huevos Rancheros is good too and easy to share with someone. BLT is an elevated version of what you make at home and oh so good. I am a big fan of the caprese-style sandwich as well. Fantastic service. Beautiful and comfortable restaurant design, layout, and decor.

We were immediately greeted by a staff member, and we told them we had an existing reservation. We were seated promptly. The decor is aspiring to be upscale but falls short. I immediately noticed that the tables were not solid and were covered in white tablecloths. The chairs are not comfortable and have no padding. Our server greeted us and brought out water. He said there is a large tap selection, and I was welcome to check it out at the bar. I made my way to the bar, and they have an extensive IPA selection. I am not an IPA drinker but did manage to find a lager I have never heard of and chose it without any hesitation, Deca Loteria was the name! I made my way back. Oh, I did want to mention the bartender was very accommodating and let me sample 2 beers. I went with the HRW selection of chicken and andouille sausage gumbo, crispy coconut shrimp, De Constructed Beef Wellington, and Whiskey Bread Pudding. My wife went with the Cajun Shrimp Pasta and my daughter with the drunken steak tacos w charro beans. My two favorite dishes were the coconut shrimp and Beef Wellington. Shrimp was nice and freshly hot, and my Wellington was perfectly cooked medium! I thought the gumbo was good but didn't have a kick, and I didn't even ask for Tabasco for it. lol.The Roux was also not thick enough. The bread pudding was merely a sample, and it was smaller than most desserts at other concepts. In addition to dining, we tried our hand at Trivia. They have several specials going on different days of the week. I really enjoyed the food here but not the atmosphere and decor. I also feel that tipping should be up to me and not levied an automatic 20% gratuity. Tipping should always be up to the guest, and it is not based on the total with tax. Arriving around lunchtime on a weekday, I had the place to myself which allowed me a unique opportunity to take the place in. That being said, this spot is not overly French cafe themed, but instead a classic suburban strip mall spot with nods to the French peppered throughout the menu and decor. The booth area is well-designed, the spot was clean and the table touched by light so after a great experience chatting with the cashier I was crossing my fingers, hoping the food matched the vibe. I had a crepe Mexicana (because who has ever heard of that?!), a croque monsieur with tomato soup, and a dessert crepe because y'all know I always save room for dessert. We get dressed up and venture to Le Jardinier. While we were super excited and ready for a great Friday evening, we checked in with an unwelcoming hostess. Mind you, this is our first impression since we have never been to any of the locations. He asked the hostess if we would be seated close or after our reservation time (that would determine if we would have a drink at the bar), we received a condescending toned response of "you can have a seat and I will work on getting a status update on that." Duly noted. A few minutes later we were told we could go to the bar to only then be escorted to the table. So we will look past that "weirdness" of initial service and get ready for a stiff drink...the bartenders know what they are doing! Martinis were the name of the game and they were perfect. Just perfect. The prefixe and wine pairing was the game plan. But before the fun stuff, came the bread service. Bread was more than bread, it was warm savory pillows with the perfect butter. Made a crumbly mess while tearing up the bread basket, expected table crumbler service, after, nothing. For Michelin, we expected the fine dining cleaning in between each course. The service was odd, and the servers seemed cold. The kanpachi and the scallop of the prefixe were Michelin. Overall, we might give it another shot, maybe it was a bad day...but still grateful to get in last minute due to rodeo season. Let me know your experience!
