    Outside table. Wonderful.

This place continues to shine. The pasta is (obviously) made in-house by people who know how to make it, and every menu item -- be it a nightly special or a regular dish -- is special. Whether you sit indoors or out, you're in for a treat and exceptional customer service. On our most recent visit, I couldn't tell who was actually serving us. Both owners came to our table to ensure that everything was up to par (and it was). We also had a server who checked on us regularly. I've eaten Italian food in many different places, including Italy and NYC. This place -- with a little French infusion -- is among the best I've savored. I'm not sure why it's not listed by the Houston Chronicle's Top 100 Restaurants or nominated by the James Beard Foundation. But I intend to change that.

For Italian food in Kemah, this is our go-to place. Everything is cooked fresh. The flavors are packed in. The portion sizes are not Americanized but yet you don't leave hungry. The menu has a decent range of dishes for every palette. They do have a small wine list but you can also bring your own and pay a $15 cork fee. The restaurant itself is small and decorated with various photos of Mona Lisa (the one in the bathroom is my favorite). The owners are Guglielmo and Fanny. He's Italian and she is French and are such a cute couple. Bottom line - Absolutely delicious food in a quaint restaurant that feels like home. Love it. We go often. Bon appétit, y'all.

I met a friend here on her suggestion. The hubs and I arrived early, so we walked in and was told that we could sit wherever we'd like. So we grabbed a table next to the wall. The staff was very nice, and informative. I had some sparking water and the hubs ordered a coffee. A warning about the coffee, its espresso based. I, love espresso, but my other half thinks it too bitter. He did drink it, but I could tell it wasn't his favorite, it tasted good to me. After my friend arrived, we ordered an appetizer followed by our lunch. Appetizer: Burrata and added the prosciutto de parma for a small up charge. It was served on a bed or Arugula. The burrata was very good and pared very nicely with the prosciutto. It was some of the best burrata that I've ever had. They also served bread on the side. Dinner: Me: Spaghetti and meatballs. Usually you get like 2 or 3 large meatball when you go places. They had small meatballs and they gave you plenty of them. Also the spaghetti was homemade. You can tell, thats for sure. It had a nice bite to it. I was very happy with my meal. Hubs: he had Lasagna and said it was really good. I tasted it and wasnt a fan, but I also dont like Italian sausage or Italian spice mix and it tasted like it had one of those things in it. And even in saying that, it was well made. They seem to take pride in what they serve. Its a nice little restaurant if you want some good Italian food down in Kemah.

The most authentic Italian restaurant in the area the staff is very friendly and the owners care so much about the quality of the food. I would absolutely recommend this place.

Thank you again for the amazing pasta. The spaghetti and fusilli bolognese were perfect for my son and I. The baguette bread was great with it. Thank you for the tour of the pizzeria! I love the decor and the I can't wait to try your Neapolitan style pizza. We continue to wish you and much success!!!

Monna Lisa Trattoria is a charming little spot with so much personality. The decor alone was fun to take in, and the cozy atmosphere makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. I went with a group of six, and without even planning it, we all ordered different dishes. This was perfect because we all got to sample a little bit of everything. Every single bite was so good that I couldn't pick a favorite. When I eat out, I usually eat half and save the rest, but this was one of those meals I happily finished in one sitting. Our server, Noah, absolutely made the experience even better. He was sweet, attentive, happy to answer all our questions, and kept the bread coming until our bread loving selves were fully satisfied. We spent a long, leisurely evening enjoying each other's company and never once felt rushed. From start to finish, it was a wonderful dining experience.

The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I feel they could use more help. I walked in and it took a while to get acknowledged. The inside was small and very hot, because of the open kitchen, so we were happy to sit outside. Our server, Noah, was amazing despite being pulled in so many directions. He was sweet and kind and very knowledgeable. The food was fresh and delicious and you could tell it was homemade. We will definitely return to try some of the other dishes!

Special of the day Pasta alla Siciliana
    Vivian H.

My husband and I just visited Monna Lisa Trattoria, cozy little restaurant right down the Kemah Boardwalk. The place is beautifully decorated, and the waitress was super nice and welcoming. We started with eggplant parmigiana, the flavor of the sauce was so intense and the eggplant was almost sweet, it was spectacular. We ordered the lasagna and Pasta alla Siciliana. The lasagna was delicious, the pasta was great, the sauces on point, it's been a while since we've had a lasagna this good. Pasta alla Siciliana, with catch of the day: Pompano, cappers, Kalamata olives and cherry tomatoes, pasta al dente, this was to die for. This is a new place in Kemah, I'm so glad we came to try it out, we will be back definitely.

The Camera brothers, Francesco "Frankie" and Giuseppe, own Frenchie's in Clear Lake and Villa Capri in Seabrook. Out of everyone in my party visiting Villa Capri, I was the only one who has never been to Frenchie's, which tends to be a favorite of NASA astronauts and employees. What I really love about Villa Capri are the incredible outdoor waterfront views. From what I understand, the Camera family originally hails from the Isle of Capri in the Campania region of Italy. Knowing this, everything from the name of the restaurant to the location makes sense. My order consisted of the garlic bread with dipping oil (closer to aglio e olio than garlic confit) and linguine and clams with white wine sauce. I shared the bread, which I really liked, with the table. My favorite part of the meal was the linguine and clams. The flavor was sublime, and I liked the peppery essence in combination with other savory flavors. In fact, this was the best linguine and clams dish I've tried over the years. But going back to another aspect of Villa Capri that immediately caught my attention, the waterfront views were memorable and uniquely beautiful. I thought the service was good, but the waiter could have been more knowledgeable about the menu. Still, I would give grace on this aspect of things since it was his first day on the job. Luckily, I knew what I wanted to order fairly quickly, so it wasn't really an issue. The people who work at Villa Capri, in my experience, were very friendly. And parking here was easy. Overall, I would rate my experience here a 5/5. I definitely enjoyed my visit to Villa Capri.

There should be no need to write an update. I see that my initial review was written about 5 years ago. This is about how they handle the transferral of totaled tabs to the credit card. When I go to the Houston area, I usually eat lunch at Ivett's twice a week - yes, it's that good. And it's doable because I tend to stay in their "Bay Area," which is south of the city near Space Center Houston and in the suburbs adjacent to large Galveston Bay. Here's what the deal is, and this happened last year and a year or two before that. When I get the bill, it's usually a number that has cents attached to it, thus an "uneven" sort of number. To this, I add a tip. If the final bill were to be $12.72, for example, I might add $2.28 to bring it to an even $15.00. (I've asked restaurant employees over the years if this is weird and they tell me they have customers who do this.) Fast forward to the charge hitting the credit card. In 2025, one charge went through a meaningless few cents higher and one charge went through without the tip altogether. I've never worked in a restaurant, so I don't know how the process works where the final bill is sent over to the credit card company. In this situation, I came out ahead. But that's not the point. I want the employees who were my servers to get their tips and get what I indicated on the copy that I signed. This same exact sort of scenario showed up a year or two before when I also visited twice ... with one lunch charge coming across without the tip. Another lunch charge must have been processed with an even dollar amount as the tip. Again, I came out ahead, if you even want to look at it that way, but I want the employee to get his or her tip. The price-quality-quantity here remains at 5 stars. That's why I have filed Ivett's away in my head. I've now landed on the pattern of lunch specials that I like in any given week - a chicken dish and the manicotti dish, so I come in for those. I did try the lasagna once and, since this is in the U.S. of A. and not fine dining, they use the thicker undulating sheets of pasta that I'm not a fan of. It's to be understood. It's what most Italian-American restaurants do. That dish might come in as a 4. I applaud Ivett's for being a small restaurant that is intent on serving its customers and its community. However, if the tip for that one customer's meal is $2.28, $2.74, or $3.11 because the customer is seeking to hit a "normal" looking final number, then it's $2.28, $2.74, or $3.11. And, if they don't enter the tip at all, then I feel bad because the employee didn't get their tip and it makes me feel cheap ... cheaper than I already am to some people. Fix this little clerical issue by instructing your employees how to do so ... and keep up the good work! I look forward to seeing you all (translation: y'all) the next time I'm in the area.

Along with that, I ordered the garlic cheese bread (with mozzarella on top) and finished with the tiramisu for dessert. The cilantro chicken pasta was every bit as good as the pictures an easy 10/10. It was packed with flavor, cooked perfectly, and had plenty of chicken. A lot of restaurants skimp on the meat, but not this place. The cheesy garlic bread was good as well. My only suggestion would be to toast it a little longer so it has more of that crispy texture. The tiramisu was also a 10/10 when it came to flavor. My only disappointment was the portion size. It was about the size of a small party dessert serving, much smaller than what I'd expect from a restaurant. I really hope they increase the portion because the taste was fantastic.
