Boldthouse is small and intimate. It reminds you of dining in someone's house. You are welcomed at the sight of a decent sized outdoor patio and a unique semi indoor seating area. We were immediately greeted by a staff member, and we told them we had an existing reservation. We were seated promptly. The decor is aspiring to be upscale but falls short. I immediately noticed that the tables were not solid and were covered in white tablecloths. The chairs are not comfortable and have no padding. Our server greeted us and brought out water. He said there is a large tap selection, and I was welcome to check it out at the bar. I made my way to the bar, and they have an extensive IPA selection. I am not an IPA drinker but did manage to find a lager I have never heard of and chose it without any hesitation, Deca Loteria was the name! I made my way back. Oh, I did want to mention the bartender was very accommodating and let me sample 2 beers. I went with the HRW selection of chicken and andouille sausage gumbo, crispy coconut shrimp, De Constructed Beef Wellington, and Whiskey Bread Pudding. My wife went with the Cajun Shrimp Pasta and my daughter with the drunken steak tacos w charro beans. My two favorite dishes were the coconut shrimp and Beef Wellington. Shrimp was nice and freshly hot, and my Wellington was perfectly cooked medium! I thought the gumbo was good but didn't have a kick, and I didn't even ask for Tabasco for it. lol.The Roux was also not thick enough. The bread pudding was merely a sample, and it was smaller than most desserts at other concepts. In addition to dining, we tried our hand at Trivia. They have several specials going on different days of the week. I really enjoyed the food here but not the atmosphere and decor. I also feel that tipping should be up to me and not levied an automatic 20% gratuity. Tipping should always be up to the guest, and it is not based on the total with tax. We went to The Boldthouse tonight for the first time. The ambiance and location is perfect. We felt like they were trying to push it as high-end, however, I wish they would stick to the pub feel that it has. We ordered the Hamburger, that was supposed to be served on a brioche bun and looked really good in their picture online. The burger we received was definitely not the same as the picture. We also ordered the ribeye sandwich that was ok, not really worth the asking price. My husband ordered the salmon and it was really good and matched the asking price. Nice place! It was a quiet night due to the weather and the place was very nice. We sat with Lexi at the bar and she was a great bartender/server!! Went to the Boldthouse for the first time for Tacos, Taps and Trivia night. So. Much. Fun. Nice selection of beer on tap. Good selection of wines. The shrimp tacos were perfect. Nicely seasoned with the right amount of spice. Huge shrimp. Great service and the trivia game was well run and frankly, a blast. Great little bar in NASA. For a small bar and food place they have a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. Great spot to hang out with friends or significant others. I'm almost 65 years old and this is the worst restaurant I've ever been in! I'll try to make this short but there's so much! First of all, it's dirty! Floors and all, including the restrooms. The women's restroom didn't lock so I had to have my daughter stand outside the door since it's a one person restroom. When I told the hostess, she acted surprised but I'm sure she knew. Our waitress was awful. First, she took a phone call, and not a short one, while taking our order! Maybe that's why she got one of our orders wrong. The flatbread pizza was supposed to be without mushrooms because of an allergy but it came with mushrooms. Two of our party decided on the restaurant week menu and when she brought their first course, she gave a caprese salad to one and the crustini to the other and they questioned the salad and she said that's the fig something and that's the crustini, so they ate them and didn't question any more. The rest of the party's meals were supposed to come out with the main course of the restaurant week people, but when they did, my caprese salad (my dinner order) didn't come because she gave it as the other's first course even though they questioned it! Then she had the nerve to charge us for TWO caprese salads and argue with us when we said it wasn't fair! She said, "well, he ate it!" She finally took the charge off (I wouldn't have paid for it anyway) but by that time we were OVER IT! Oh and they must've been out of ice because our water came without it and it wasn't even chilled, just room temp. Please don't waste your money! **Do NOT book your wedding reception here!!** We had our reception here last Saturday and it did not go well. I emailed the GM 24 hours ago with a list of our concerns and have not received a reply. So, I am posting a copy of the email that we sent so that you don't make the same mistake we did: We are finally getting around to writing to you regarding our dissatisfaction, as it was quite easy to write the rave reviews to our other vendors. It seems that there is much to learn on The Boldthouse's part before advertising as a wedding venue. 1. If we would have gone by your record keeping, we would have paid over $1000.00 more than agreed upon. 2. The table in Kyle's parents' memory was supposed to include 2 place settings. This was discussed at least three times with you. 3. The food was cold. The salad dressing was missing a spoon. Both spaghetti carbonaras were uncovered, leaving both zitis covered, not allowing the guests to know that there were options. There were to be buffets set up both upstairs and downstairs. The only buffet table was set up in a dark back corner making it awkward for guests to access. It was left to us to announce how to organize tables to go and get their food when this announcement should have been made by staff. Side note, the linens were not steamed as promised. Also, because the food was cold most guests ate very little. So, once returning to our home, food was ordered to feed guests and other guests went to other establishments in Seabrook to order food, as most left hungry. 4. The wedding cake was to be displayed downstairs as you proposed. When our cake vendor arrived, there was not a table set up nor a plate to set the cake on as discussed. There was not a knife laid out by the cake for the cake cutting, causing me to have to grab a used steak knife from the end of the reception table so as not to be embarrassed. Your staff was about to start the cake cutting by cutting the small top layer of the wedding cake to serve to our guests. Fortunately my family stepped in and did it the right way. Shouldn't wedding venue staff be aware that the top layer of a wedding cake is saved for the first year wedding anniversary? 5. Drink tickets were not given out as discussed multiple times. Instead drinks were ticked off by the bartenders causing some guests to only have one complimentary drink or none at all. The downstairs bartender was only able to serve beer, wine and non alcoholic drinks causing guests to have to go back upstairs to order anything else. 6. We were unable to do the first dance or surprise my dad with a father/daughter dance as nobody knew how to stream the music. Nor did you give the guitar player these two songs as promised. So, he did not know these two songs nor knew of the dance plans. Our best man's wife is a very well known event planner in Conroe and tried her best to make these two dances come to fruition, but to no avail. 7. When a guest's dog escaped from a vehicle, the hostess handled it as it should have been handled. She advised the best man and his wife and in turn, it was being handled. Three minutes later you came up to me to advise of the dog's escape. Please note, this is not something that should have directly been brought to a bride and groom's attention in this way. 8. The air conditioning was not working upstairs or is there air conditioning upstairs? 9. There was not a table for gifts set up. 10. We scrubbed bathrooms, hid tables and chairs and arranged plants, many of which were dead to make your venue more inviting. While I understand you may not have closed until 2am and we were there at 10am, it was quite obvious to us that these details have not been tended to for quite sometime. 11. Please remove our photos from social media as we did not give permission for them to be used by your venue and it also leads those not in the know to believe the decorations and full set up was done by your staff. When in fact, this was not the case. As stated above, there are many learning curves that need to be addressed before your venue is advertised as a wedding venue. I would like to give praise where praise is due. Josh the upstairs bartender, the downstairs bartender, the hostess along with one of her assistants were wonderful and did the best they could with what they had to work with. read more
