The Fancy really helped elevate the Seawall in my opinion, it rewired how a view Galveston altogether actually. The hotel itself is wrapped in the theme/aesthitic and wears it shamelessly everywhere. That golden era of mid century luxury feels really cozy and mixes with high end dining quite well. Service was really easy going and friendly throughout, waitress and hostess were pleasant to engage with the whole time. The menu has enough for you to think about, but not leave you endlessly reading dishes that aren't worth your time. Expansive wine and cocktails to choose from and the two that I got where just excellent, can't recommend enough diving into a Lucine Breeze. Smoked oyster tartine was so impressive flavor wise. Strip steak cooked perfectly. Aguachile was incredibly bright and just the right level of heat. The expectation that I had for island restaurants and cuisine had been set pretty low, but even with lowered expectations Fancy just kept dishing out hits that I would love to rant about and come back for.

We stayed at Treasure Isle when I was young so I was excited to see it transformed as the Hotel Lucine. Having the door opened as we arrived was awesome. Would love to stay here again for nostalgic reasons. Such a fun retro vibe! We chose a more secluded table since my granddaughter was with us but there are great views of the ocean. I had to have a Fancy Exclusive so chose the Ms. Cherry Baudelaire which was just sweet enough with definite hints of cherry. My water glass was never empty. You have to try the caressed salad bc the addition of the red snapper croquettes was divine! The way he gulf shrimp was served was interesting. Love the attention to detail, candles were lit with flowers on each table. Our server was helpful and knowledgeable.

This restaurant and the hotel it resides in are awesome. The entire thing has this mid-century modern retro chic vibe that's totally different than the rest of Galveston. And on top of it the food is absolutely delicious. Everything we had -- aguachile crudo, smoked oyster tartine, grilled squash, agrodolche eggplant, crab pasta, redfish and red snapper -- was absolutely incredible. The colors, textures, flavors, everything. And the service was very attentive and friendly as well. And it has a beautiful view of the Gulf on top of all that. Wholehearted recommendation.

Even though our stay at the Lucine was a horrible experience, I cannot say the same for the restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful, but most importantly, the food was amazing. I do wish we were seated in a more private space instead of right in the middle, but that's on me for not speaking up. Food was fantastic and dessert was just as great. Highly recommend the salad because I don't know how they make their croutons, but I could eat a whole box of them. The only reason we didn't go again the following night is because we wanted to try something different and get out of the hotel to enjoy Galveston.

The Fancy is a restaurant that Galveston needed. We were staying at the Lucine for our anniversary weekend, and of course we had to check out their restaurant, The Fancy. We came on a Sunday night with a reservation. The restaurant wasn't overly packed but wasn't empty either so we were seated right away. First thing you notice is the mid century modern design, dim lights and overall a romantic feel. Our server Philip was super nice and pleasant. The menu is pretty simple, and is meant to be shared family style. We decided to get 4 dishes to share for the two of us. BIBB and butter greens salad was nice. Greens were fresh and the dressing was refreshing. The quinoa was great for the added crunch. Light enough to get our appetite going. Jumbo lump crab toast. Nice big chunks of crab and tasted fresh. The toast was ever so slightly on the overdone side, but we still enjoyed it very much. Bucatini. I think this was our least favorite dish. It wasn't a bad dish per se, but just didn't enjoy it as much as the rest of our meal. Maybe it just didn't go well with the rest of our meal, or perhaps just overshadowed by the snapper since they both came out the same time. Roasted gulf snapper. Easily the best dish! The snapper was cooked perfectly - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The Soubise sauce was so good we asked for toast to mop it up and finish it! Butter cake. Best dessert to end a great meal. The cake was brûléed which added a great crunch and caramelization. It's basically a crème brûlée butter cake! Overall this place is easily one of the best restaurants in Galveston. Definitely check it out. Only negative really was despite putting on our reservation that it was our anniversary, no one from the staff greeted us or offered us complementary bubbles or dessert - no biggie but definitely something you'd get at other "fancy" restaurants.

It was messy and it was glorious. The dining experience was akin to that community feeling you get at an eclectic local New Orleans artist gallery or a Mardi Gras street party... but make it fancy. The food at The Fancy was so good that I had a "come to Jesus" moment. It was "take me to church" good and I wanted to pray to the Lord in hopes this is only the beginning of something fresh and innovative in Texas. Good to know: - The Fancy is a restaurant located in Hotel Lucine - Parking: there is parking available on both sides of the hotel - What to wear: "Smart casual" relaxed resort wear or throw on a gown/ tie & jacket for decadent romance - it's flexible! - It's "an American Fine-ish Dining establishment", so the plates are on the small side; they use local ingredients with French/European cooking techniques The Glorious: Food: by Chef Leila Ortiz Redfish: life changing - it's local, it's fresh, the innovative textures and savory flavors are not to be missed. We devoured it and then sat in shame mulling over how quickly it left our plates. We fantasized about ordering another one. Buccatini: when it came out, I was convinced based on the look it wasn't going to impress me. I was VERY wrong. We were shook to the point of exclaiming "no one in Houston is doing this" and my (executive chef - also former momofuku/UB perserve) dining partner said " I need to step up my game". Chicken and Dumplings: perfectly juicy chicken in a homey classic that is elevated to something that truly matches the high vs low theme of Hotel Lucine. Ambiance & Vibes: The dining space is romantic, classy, and friendly. We watched one table buy another table (strangers) their dinner and a man dining alone next to us chatted with us about the food and cocktails. It was a sweet and beautiful experience. The Messy: (Considered growing pains: no impact on rating at this time) Missing items: We had early reservations, but one of the menu items I was excited about was gone (the muscles) and both of the cocktails we were really excited about were "being phased out" only 3 weeks since opening. We were informed the drinks left with the former bar manager. I am hoping someone else amazing and creative comes in with cocktails of similar craftsmanship and inspiration. The Food: Crudo: each bit of fish was the size of a fingernail It wasn't enough to really get the texture or flavors. Service: our waiter was very kind and very apologetic about the hiccups, but there were quite a few. Some of them were: We specified that we were splitting/sharing everything, but the food runner kept asking whose dish was whose. We ordered our whole meal at once so it could be coursed out. However, before we could finish our appetizer, they quickly brought out the first course. The food runner and waiter struggled with pacing throughout the whole meal. The second we finished our first course, the food runner approached us and and asked: "you ready for the second?" - she was clearly confused and trying her best. The second course was pasta, but it was cold. It had clearly been out for a while, which explained the food runners stress about bringing it. When we mentioned the temperature to our waiter, it was effortlessly replaced with a warm one. We were grateful. --- All things considered, it was a wonderful night and I will be back again and again.

I came to celebrate my 40th birthday. Started off great but ended terribly. Shame too because I was ready to rave about this place. The ambiance was cool. The decor was well done and it has a cool vibe. Cool furniture, all around dope. The cocktails were quite good as well. I had 2 and then a glass of wine. All top notch. The food: excellent. Everything I had was great. I had the crabs cake which was delightfully crunchy and all crab. The Caesar salad was likewise fantastic. The croquettes were insanely good. For an entree I had the snapper. Perfect size, though it could have used a little more umph in the taste department, it was still quite good. Now here comes the bad: the service was awful. Started off well, cocktail came out quickly and the crab cake and salad came out at the same time. Was expecting staggered but no prob. My 2nd cocktail came out on schedule... then it was about 30 mins on the snapper and my glass of wine. And after that, my waitress forgot about me for 52 minutes. I know because I had sent a text photo of when the entree hit the table. I was tucked in a back corner because I was by myself, but then the entire staff seemed to forgot I was there or ignore me. I tried to get someone's attention a few times but I was like they were doing the "I see him but not my area/problem" side eye. It got the point of ridiculous and then I decided to see just how long it would go. If not so annoying it would have been quite comical. My water glass was empty for an enternity. My plate was clearly finished, silverware in the "please adios my plate" position for about a half hour. A table got seated next to me and they waited and waited on their waitress (same one I had) for over 20 minutes until they had to go find someone (I know because I was just about done with my plate when they were seated). When my waitress finally arrived, she asked if I wanted anything it. Else being my birthday I HAD wanted dessert, but after being at the restaurant for over 2 hours I was done. I asked for the cookies to go, which they brought to me not to go so they had to take them back and pack them up. I had a nice little card that said happy birthday when I sat down, but 2 hours later the waitress forgot, didn't even get a happy birthday on my way out. Started off great, ended bitter. Will try again but won't be top of the list, which sucks because I did want to try the hotel.

Growing pains; but good once service started. Came down a few weekends ago to stay at the new Hotel Lucine and decided to make reservations at their restaurant. We were seated right away when we arrived but waited about 10 min for anyone to acknowledge us. Once our server finally came over we realized she was the only one serving the entire place! Even with running everywhere, once she started our order she was prompt and was friendly. Place is super cute with great views of the gulf out the large windows. There is plenty of room for large groups but also secluded corners for a nice date night spot. Food was delicious. Definitely a nice spot for what Galveston typically offers -- worth checking out if you are looking for something a little more upscale.

Beautiful ambiance with a retro/art deco feel. Surprised this place exists in Galvy. Food and cocktails were on point and I loved the unique plates for each dish. The croquettes on the Caesar salad were a unique touch to my favorite salad! Also there is a private room available for large parties!

The best Caesar Salad I've ever had. The crayons are stuffed with some sort of goodness and it's dressed perfectly . GET IT!!

Anytime I come to Galveston , I must make a stop at Hotel Lucine! The Fancy accommodates everyone's pallet and is something different than all the seafood-only based cuisine on the strand. It's been a pleasure to have enjoyed it now 5x Summer '24!!! You must check it out for a "fancy" night out"

3/6/26-Michelin Man? More like Michelin...maaaaaaan…read more.. In good Mel and the Doctor fashion, a rough week equates to "let's go have a great night." We get dressed up and venture to Le Jardinier. While we were super excited and ready for a great Friday evening, we checked in with an unwelcoming hostess. Mind you, this is our first impression since we have never been to any of the locations. He asked the hostess if we would be seated close or after our reservation time (that would determine if we would have a drink at the bar), we received a condescending toned response of "you can have a seat and I will work on getting a status update on that." Duly noted. A few minutes later we were told we could go to the bar to only then be escorted to the table. So we will look past that "weirdness" of initial service and get ready for a stiff drink...the bartenders know what they are doing! Martinis were the name of the game and they were perfect. Just perfect. The prefixe and wine pairing was the game plan. But before the fun stuff, came the bread service. Bread was more than bread, it was warm savory pillows with the perfect butter. Made a crumbly mess while tearing up the bread basket, expected table crumbler service, after, nothing. For Michelin, we expected the fine dining cleaning in between each course. The service was odd, and the servers seemed cold. The kanpachi and the scallop of the prefixe were Michelin. Overall, we might give it another shot, maybe it was a bad day...but still grateful to get in last minute due to rodeo season. Let me know your experience!

It's been quite a long time since I was here and as I was in the neighborhood I decided to stop by again today. Remembering how good they were last time, I ordered the Oma's Frikadellen (grandma's recipe for all-beef meatballs). I like a good German meatball and these were tender and juicy. There was a choice of red cabbage or sauerkraut as a side; having confirmed they made the sauerkraut in-house themselves, had to order that because I know it's super healthy to eat. Better yet, that sauerkraut was almost perfect with a great flavor, but not too tart and just really a delicious version. Honestly I could've eaten a huge bucket load of that sauerkraut and I may buy some to go someday just to have it on hand in my refrigerator; a slight warm and it would be a wonderful side to serve guests. Dessert was a wow! I wanted to try a dessert that they made themselves and so I couldn't help but go with one of the dessert specials of the day. There were several options available not on the menu and although it was tempting to try the tiramisu or one of the three versions of crème brûlée they make, I decided to go with their homemade limoncello cake which turned out to be a delicious choice that I'm very happy about. Waiter Ty said it was one of his favorite desserts here and I could taste why -- moist cake, flavor-filled filling, whipped cream and with blueberries to decorate the plate. In fact it was so yummy that I decided that so someday soon I would order one with a couple days notice and then take it to my family's place next time I go over for dinner - what I don't know is whether I'll tell them the truth or try and pretend that I made it myself LOL :-) Update: the next day I did call to order an entire cake and it didn't last very long once the family dug in, got gobbled up because it had an intense great lemon flavor, wonderful.

Arriving around lunchtime on a weekday, I had the place to myself which allowed me a unique opportunity to take the place in. That being said, this spot is not overly French cafe themed, but instead a classic suburban strip mall spot with nods to the French peppered throughout the menu and decor. The booth area is well-designed, the spot was clean and the table touched by light so after a great experience chatting with the cashier I was crossing my fingers, hoping the food matched the vibe. I had a crepe Mexicana (because who has ever heard of that?!), a croque monsieur with tomato soup, and a dessert crepe because y'all know I always save room for dessert. It took a minute to be prepared, but I'm willing to wait for a fresh made meal. Everything, was delicious. Crepe texture was on point, and each crepe was stuffed to the Gods. Positive experience all around. My tip: Order the tomato soup and finish your meal with the following combo- a dessert Crepe Almonds with strawberries. Trust me on that one!
