The chicken portions here are huge, definitely good for sharing. However, the restaurant had a bit of a weird smell when we walked in, and even the water didn't taste quite right, which threw off the experience a bit. I love Korean Fried Chicken and Bulgogi so when I saw a restaurant that offered both of these very close to my house, I just knew I had to try it out. I walked into the restaurant and the interior was clean and neat with plenty of seating. The staff was very nice and helpful as well. The issue I had was the food. I ordered some fried chicken and bulgogi. The fried chicken was alright flavor wise. It was crunchy and there was plenty of sauce but flavor wise, I've had better and I wasn't blown away. The bulgogi I was dissapointed with. I ordered extra meat with my order and the only thing extra I felt like I got was rice. There was so. much. rice. And i defi did not feel like i got extra meat with my order. The flavor was also only ok, not my favorite. I've been to the Mono Mono location in Lafayette previously, so this was a nice find after having enjoyed it so much before. It's more of an order at the counter/fast casual service instead of table service here. I got the chicken tenders tossed in the secret sauce, and my friend ordered shishito peppers and hot 'n spicy wings. The shishito peppers came out first with Cotija cheese sprinkled on top. Interesting display, but not my favorite flavor. The chicken was piping hot, nice and crunchy with a sweet and spicy sticky sauce coating each piece. The wings were crispy and had a nice kick to them. Definitely not the same ambiance as the larger Mono Mono locations, but perfect when you're in a hurry and just want to grab something to go. We probably will grab our food to go and enjoy it at the common area at the mall next time. read more

I've put off having Korean Fried Chicken for so long, maybe because I was afraid I wouldn't like it. Fortunately I came to Mono GoGo with my friend, and they set me straight. We arrived right at opening time, though they needed about 20 minutes longer to get everything set, then we plopped ourselves right at the bar and ordered some food. I got the Teriyaki Hot Wings and shared Kimchi Fries with my friend. Those fries were its own meal, honestly. Very saucy. I actually did like the Teriyaki Hot Wings which were recommended by the guy working behind the bar. I'd want to try a few other flavors, as well as the rice cakes. It felt too early for alcohol, but I'd love to dip into their sake and soju selection next time. For parking in this shopping center, I picked a nearby meter, and my friend chose the adjacent Target lot. Didn't realize where Mono GoGo was located, so that caught me off guard. The bartender was nice, and we had an engaging conversation with him... makes me want to come here in the evening and socialize with the locals. I miss Korean fried chicken. Mono GoGo was very close to filling the void. It's a hip spot to have some trendy fast casual Korean food. There is street parking and probably some close by garage parking as well. We walked in and it definitely had a pop feel to it with a large wall that had a bunch of pictures and writing. Not my cup of bori-cha but all good. The guy that was working gave us a quick smile and seated us with some menus. We ordered the popcorn chicken and 12 piece wings both hot and spicy. Man, there was a LOT of space. It was tasty but a bit messy. Luckily there was a little metal pail with a plastic liner, so we put our vines in there and there was a napkin dispenser on the table. I can't remember if we got some wet wipes but I think we did. The food was good, and the batter was lighter than I thought it might be. Airier might be a better word for it. It definitely stayed crispy throughout the meal and we ate pretty much everything. We also had some kimchee which was cut into really small pieces. I suppose it marinates better? All in all, a good experience, the food was good and the atmosphere made me feel a touch old. :) It's worth visiting next time you're in Lakewood. read more

Because of great reviews, my friend and I stopped in for lunch when we were shopping in Belmar. We didn't have the Asian chicken due to dieting. We had Bulgogi bowls, which were generous and satisfying but made us realize Korean spices were not our favorite. The chicken must be the main event. I'm curious enough to go back another time to try it but feel no need to return for another Bulgogi bowl. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. read more

Then, they bring out your order once it's ready. My order took about 20 minutes for two orders of wings. Not terrible but also not quick. The wings were perfectly crispy and cooked well. However, I wasn't a fan of any of the sauces. Sadly not for me after I started feeling a bit overwhelmed with the msg. I would recommend to try this place and create your own experience. Do not support. These people will steal your money and waste your time! I recently put in an order and was told that one of the items was not available. No big deal. Was told that the manager would refund the difference to my credit card. I asked if I needed to do anything on my end, since it was an order that I placed through DoorDash. I was told very clearly that I did not need to do anything and that the manager would take care of it. Now, weeks later, there has been no refund on my credit card. After multiple phone calls, I was finally able to get through to a manager who says " you have to deal with this through DoorDash" Liars. The store is looks like a usual bar style, with TVs and all that jazz, but they did have anime jamming out on one of them, gotta put those sports entheusiasts in their place! Upon walking in, we were greeted by Thomas, who's exceptionally friendly and will make your experience dining in or even ordering so great! He informed us of some menu items to try and we opted for the soy garlic wings which did not disappoint! I loved how crispy these wings were and the heat coming off the wing just added to the right temperature and taste. I loved the heavy garlic flavors and the spice that the garlic adds! Stopped by the Belmar location to try it out and needless to say... I was not impressed. I got the soy garlic Korean fried chicken and my friend got the bulgogi rice bowl and there was no flavor. The chicken was fried and cooked well, but there was no flavor in the sauce. Ranch also had no flavor. Rice bowl was 90% rice, 10% meat and toppings. Service was mediocre. Felt like we were inconveniencing the girl at the register. Don't think I'll be returning. read more

Visiting from out of town while my kid was checking out the nearby university, so I had an opp for lunch on my own. Since I was by myself it was a little harder to pick so I settled on simple, an order of seasoned fries and 6 soy garlic wings. I was brought out the fries first, so I ended up eating thru most of that first while waiting for the wings (which ended up taking awhile). Because it was hot and fresh the fries were amazing. Crust was super light, perfectly crunchy, and the inside was soft and flavorful. It was a mix of fries and, what I thought at first were fried little mochi balls (my first thought was, "oh, okay, that a little weird and interesting"), but were actually super light tater tots. Wings finally came out and they were SO good. Not dinky wings either. I could definitely taste the garlic, enough to leave that not-so-pleasant garlic aftertaste. I couldn't finish it all, and had two leftover that I snacked on later in the day. Not so good cold, but still edible. At first, I was a little thrown by the price of 6 wings, but now that I know how big and fresh they come, it's feels a little more reasonable. This place would definitely be great for my family of hungry teens, so I will bring them here if we ever come back to Lakewood. I think the portions are great for sharing! read more

Casual little spot in the heart of Belmar, this place is good for a quick bite before a show or evening stroll. The good: the Secret Sauce Chicken and Signature Wings were the highlights of the show! They were truly excellent! Crispy fried chicken that falls apart in your mouth? Yes please! The server was also friendly and brought the the food out when it was piping hot which is a huge plus in my book. We didn't get all of the food at the same time, but that didn't bother me because it all came out hot. The not so great: the Bulgogi Nachos were drenched in aioli. They would've been better with about half the amount of sauce on them. If you have any aversion to Mayo whatsoever, do not get these. I love Mayo, but not in that amount. Other than that, it was a cute little date night and we'll probably be back. We'll just stick to the chicken dishes. read more

We decided to visit this new place that claimed to have the best Korean chicken in town. I was excited to try it, as I love Korean food and had high expectations for this dish. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed by the chicken. It was incredibly dry and lacked any real flavor. It was as if we had been given refried or leftover chicken or it tasted as if it was. I had been told by friends and even the gentleman waiting on my son and me that I would not be disappointed by this restaurant, but we were unfortunately let down. The Korean chicken was a major disappointment and did not live up to the hype from Yelp and others. While the presentation was nice and the service was good, the chicken was not up to par. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant's Korean chicken. If you are looking for delicious, flavorful Korean chicken, you might want to try a different restaurant. read more

The place was clean and tidy besides my table being slightly sticky. But they did ask and explain the reasoning behind the poorly made food. And I love the crunchy outer coating. I am not a fan of dark meat and that's what the chicken is. Came to eat here we got sat and given menu. then the servers friends in came 5 minutes later. Who got sat next to us. 10 minutes later took his friends order who were sitting next to us and gave them cups. Still haven't even gotten drinks yet. 25 minutes in his friends got their food. Finally after 30 minutes of being there he asked us what we wanted to drink and took our order. Came back with the drinks. Then we were sitting in the restaurant then another 20 - 30 minutes go by and the server comes back and tells me he forgot to put in our order and asked if we even wanted it, made seem like he didn't even want to. Didn't offer to comp anything so we ended up leaving. One of the worst service I've ever experienced. Not sure if I'll come back was looking at trying the food since the reviews were good. read more

The service was fine, and the food was ready for pickup at the scheduled time. But the food itself was not really anything special, and overpriced for what it was. The cheesy pork katsu was super bland. And the tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) were too sweet in my opinion. Also, I opted to pay the extra 3 dollars to add mozzarella cheese to the tteokbokki but there wasn't any in there. Which is just kind of annoying and also a waste of money.
