It's the way I've gone here 3 times in the last 48 hours for the Basic Witch drink. It's a pumpkin spice latte essentially, with cinnamon on top. I got it iced all three times and would do it a 4th. I'm from out of town and walked to the location. There was a line every time I went but it didn't take more than a couple minutes & they made my coffee so fast I literally never had to wait after ordering it. I'm honestly surprised at the number of 4 and 5 star reviews. While it's ok and probably somewhat conveniently located in the Columbia Tower, I haven't had good experiences there with service or the quality of the products. I doubt my ok review matters due to the fact that there always seems to be a line. While they move through the people at a fair pace, the don't seem to be very personable, and the quality of the coffee is lacking. It can be a weak Americano or a bitter latte, but it doesn't seem to matter what I order. It just doesn't hit the mark. On a self guided coffee tour and this is by far the best place we've been to so far. I had a hot burnt creme latte and it blew my mind. I am glad I was able to find Monorail Espresso. In a city dominated by Starbucks, it is really hard for Europeans who get used to Italian-style espressos and cappuccinos to find acceptable coffee. Monorail Espresso fills this gap. I really appreciate the ability to get good coffee right from the street and enjoy it at the outside table. It is not yet at the level of the best coffee shops that you can now find in all major US cities, but it is the best option in Seattle I can find. read more

While vacationing in Seattle for the weekend, I called a friend to meet up a Monorail Espresso. I figured it was just any standard coffee shop, with tables and chairs and such. I was running a little late, and my friend got there before I did. She called me asking if it's right that there's nowhere to sit inside and I told her I didn't know and that I would rush over immediately. Sure enough, I passed right by without even noticing it. Monorail Espresso is quite literally a "hole-in-the-wall." I found my friend sitting on a crate inside of a coffee shop the size of my closet! Hardly enough room for one person, the man working invited us all in. My friend went on to explain how she walked about 20 feet away from Monorail to sit down and wait for us, but the man working left his shop, walked over to her, and invited her into his warm working space. HOW SWEET! I love cute, old men! He allowed us to watch him make a couple cups of coffee. Then we proceeded to order our own coffee. I went with the almond latte, which ended up being absolutely perfect and delightful. The almond syrup complimented the coffee well. My friend got a cherry white mocha drink (the special), and it was delicious! Nothing was overwhelmingly sweet (as Starbucks often is). Monorail is a quick stop coffee shop. You will not be disappointed. The man working is sweet. The signs outside are entertaining and funny. I am in LOVE with Monorail and I made sure to tell all my friends to visit! read more

It's a cute little grab and go spot and I was feeling pretty sleepy at 8am and wanted some coffee to wake me up! It was my first time here and decided on their burnt crème latte with soymilk. I originally thought it would be overly sweet but it's not. After several hours, I was still sleepy and I was able to smell my coffee pee when I went to the "little girl's room." Yeahhh, so coffee was apparently there but definitely not strong and I wasn't impressed with the flavor. It was mediocre tasting and nothing mind-blowing. I saw that this coffee shop had good reviews so I decided to stop by on a Saturday afternoon. There isn't really a store that you go in and sit - you just go up to the window to order your drink. The guy is very friendly and nice. He even asked me what kind of milk I wanted in my latte - skim, soy, or regular milk. That was nice because usually I don't get asked that whenever I go into a coffee shop. I also saw the guy give a customer some doggy treats for his dog! The 8 oz latte was $3 and I added a vanilla shot for an extra quarter. I thought the espresso was tasty although at times I thought the vanilla shot overwhelmed the espresso. The milk was foamy although not super creamy like they do it at Uptown Espresso and Vivace. But the ristretto espresso shots here taste better than Vivace's, which taste really sour to me. A cute coffee installation with some good brews. Close to the convention center for those traveling in from out of town-- skip the ever present Starbucks and come here instead! Dropped by on my way to a conference and was glad I did. With only a street facing counter, it can be hard to miss and can seem a lot busier than it is! Even wihh a crowd of around 5 people I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. I ordered an almond milk latte that was top notch. Nothing too crazy but a nice, warm wake me up on a rainy day. Espresso itself was good but I've had better...intelligentsia and stumptown to name a new popular ones.
