I would give 0 stars if possible, as 1 is way more than they deserve. Brought my vehicle in for some brake work, as they were starting to grind. They said no problem, I paid over $800, and I was on my way. One problem, the grinding didn't go away. So I brought my vehicle back, and told them what's happening. They said it must be something they don't normally inspect, quoted me over $600 (for something that should have been fixed $800 ago) ,but told me it's safe to drive until I have the money. Except it wasn't. Brakes seized on my way to work. Now I have to pay for a tow truck to bring my car to a different shop. I will never use this shop again, and have told everyone I know to stay far far away! read more

Today, Brandon and his team did great work on my car. I was at Monro because I bought new tires online at Tire Rack and they sent them to this Monro location. I also needed a state inspection. These guys brought me into the bay and showed me everything going on with my car while it was up on the lift. There were only a few things, but we discussed options and they took care of everything for me. They built trust today by providing both great service and value. Highly recommend. My young driver of a son is far from home. His tire goes flat and we had to have the tire changed to a donut. The store was closing soon and my son drove up and explained that he was from Out of town and asked if they can look for a hole and patch the tire. Without hesitation they said sure and fixed the tire and actually didn't charge him either. So So So Nice!! I really want to say thank you! There are some nice people in the world still! I brought the car to Monroe for a second opinion, and I am so glad I did. They not only fixed the car, but but the price that they charged me was so reasonable that I brought my truck there as well. If you're looking for an honest garage that does great work and has great people working for it, this is your place. The Manager Mike is beyond reasonable with his prices, and Asst Mgr Chad has taken extra time to make sure the job was performed perfectly. This is definitely my go to garage. I called and made an appointment to have them take a look at my car. When I got there at the scheduled appointment time, they said I would have to wait a few hours. I then asked them what would be a good time for me to come back in and we made another appointment. I came back again and was once again told I would have to wait a few hours to get my car looked at. The manager told me that they were severely understaffed and that appointments were estimates only, not guarantees. Furthermore, they could not say how long it would take to do any work. I brought my car back a third time and after about a half hour finally got to my car. So they are both dishonest and understaffed. Had a serious brake issue during our road trip, with work deadlines and an airplane to catch. Called in and they were willing to see the car minutes before closing, or first thing the next morning. Parts needed to be ordered and they got those in the next day and got the car repaired in time to make it to the airport in Vermont. I waited a few weeks to make sure there no other issues developed, nothing has. The vehicle drives well and the brakes continue to operate without a problem. The only time they honor their lifetime warranty is the day you pay for it, after that good luck. The company has negative reviews all over the internet. Avoid them at all costs. It's a smoke and mirror show. 1 year after spending 800 on a muffler and I can't get them to fix anything. The central office will likely scour the web for reviews and leave a pre written response to call the 800 number. Don't bother, they do nothing when you call. Go to a reputable place, there is no such thing as a lifetime warranty with this company. Read the fine print. read more

Worst service ever!! Called beginning of the week to have my car brought in for an exhaust issue and they scheduled me for Saturday morning to take a look at it. We dropped it off Friday night and left the keys with instructions to call us prior to any work. We get a call on Saturday at 1pm that the manager had an emergency and had to leave so come get my car. No offer for another time or place and they had not even looked at it. We pick it up and Sunday I happen to drive by and see they are open. I call and explain my frustration with not telling me to bring it in for Sunday. The manager said bring it in and we will take care of it. We drop it off at 12:30 on Sunday and told them to call before doing anything. I went by at 2pm and see the car on the lift but no phone call. We start calling at 3pm and no answer. At 430 we decide to go there because nobody had called and no answer and they close at 5 pm. We pull in and they are closed and the car is inside the bay with the doors locked. It is 4:45 and no communication. To say I was upset is an understatement. I work in Albany and need a car for Monday morning. I call Saratoga Monroe and the guy was super helpful and nice. He got a hold of the district manager but unfortunately could not get anyone to come and get our car out. Of course, we don't know what was done to the car or not done either. I tried to call customer service but they were closed so I will call tomorrow. I could not even rent a car because it was now Sunday at 5:15 so nobody was open. Now I don't have a car for work tomorrow. Worst place ever and will never go there again. read more

Had a small issue come up while on vacation in the Lake George area. Went to one mechanic nearby who had no interest in talking to me or taking a quick look at the car for 1-2 min to see if there is a quick fix since he and everyone else was too busy. Given it was a Saturday, and we were driving back the next day on a Sunday when most if not all places are closed, it was important that someone look at the issue. Went to Monro then and the person there was open to looking at the car right away, saw a super quick fix, applied it, and was on my way. Much appreciated! read more

Horrible...... They tell menits the belt and tension assembler causing the squeaky noise. Had them replace both. Drive away squeak comes back within 5 minutes. Go back. The mechanic decides to spray lubricant all over engine and belt. The squeak does not stop. He then states it's the compressor in the air conditioner. I already spent $430 and now says to do that will be $689. i WENT a car dealership. It is not the air conditioner. it is a PCV valve. The part is less than $100 . Saved so much money time read more

I have gone to Monro Muffler for many years. They have worked on all of my cars, but recently I went in to get an oil change and the price went up. I did not think anything of it and went again three months later and it doubled for the same oil change. A day later I brought both receipts in for the past three oil changes asking why the price went up and to make sure i got the same service every time. They told me that they are changing to a tire warehouse to there prices are going up. You would they would tell there regular customers that? A couple months later I called for a quote on struts being replaced on my car. I was in the process of calling other mechanics in the area and thought I try to see what they could do for me. Other mechanics I was contacting would giving me quote without even looking at my car. (I had it looked at two other mechanics, before I started calling around) The told me I need to bring my car in to be looked at. I think it is funny that other mechanics do not need to look at it to give me a quote, but Monro needs me to bring it in. read more

Driving through area from out of town when muffler came off exiting local ferry service from NY- Stopped in at this shop at 4:20 for repair or quick patch to get our family home and was refused service. Was told shop closes at 5pm although all advertising clearly reads 6pm. This AFTER same shop person came in and through a tool across the room. Very unprofessional and a little scary. Took 4 times to align my truck. Steering wheel was still crooked the last time. Wasted $80+ there. Ended up going to a different shop and they aligned it perfectly the first try. Monroe kept blaming my truck and saying it was at fault. All of my suspension and steering components were brand new. I personally feel they were either just being lazy or do not know how to align trucks. They even told me at one point the camber was not factory adjustable. That's absolutely false. read more

Thought I'd share an experience of getting my oil changed at Monro. It was around a year ago. I had always had my oil changed at Monro. The Honda dealer across the road had a special so I took it there. They advised me that the splash guard covering the oil pan was missing. the previous oil change was at Monro. I stopped over and the admitted that they generally don't put the splash guard back up because they're useless, and really serve no purpose. I asked them to replace it which they said they would. 4 month I followed up on their excuses. They're final excuse was that they couldn't get the part. I called to the dealer across the street. They had one in stock. I bought it, and had the dealer put it on. I then brought the bill over to Monro. They submitted the bill, and ultimately reimbursed me. The best part of this whole saga/challenge was the manager's comment to me. it went something like this; " Going forward, it would be best that you not bring your cars in here for service". I got banded for their poor service. Amazing! No problem. I haven't been there since. read more

I was quite disappointed in my first experience at Monro last year having a state inspection. I was pushed around and bullied into having things done on my car that I didn't want to have. I didn't want to return to Monro, but it was the only place in town with time this week. It was also the cheapest oil change, or so I thought. I received a coupon in the mail for a $24.99 oil change with free tire rotation ($17.99 with their Drive card, $24.99 without). I came in today at 3pm and I was barely pulling out of their driveway at 4:30pm. I'm not sure what about an oil change and a tire rotation should take an hour and a half, but I did see my car up on the lift with no one attending to it for quite some time. After about 45 minutes, a mechanic came out to tell me that they'll change my oil, but only if I add an $11 engine flush. I gave him my coupon and he responded "They send out these coupons to everyone but they're really only for people with Drive cards, do you have one?" And I responded "no" because I don't, and he put the coupon aside. I thought nothing of this at the time. Additionally, they had checked my battery and the print out read "replace battery". (I'm sure they all do). I said "no, thank you" to a battery replacement today and he responded "well let me just get you an estimate" and got on the phone and the computer looking for a price. It took him about 15 minutes to come up with an estimate for the battery I didn't want and he printed it up to give to me, all while explaining cold cranking amps to me (which I understand perfectly) and why I need a new battery now. I said "just the oil change and the tire rotation for today, thanks". It felt like I was talking to a wall. He went back into the shop to complete my service. 10 or so minutes later, he came back out and told me that I was missing a lug nut and that it would be $2-$3 to replace it and I authorized putting in a new one and he returned to my car. When *finally* my OIL CHANGE was complete, my total was $50.29. $50.29!!! For a $24.99 oil change? I was so fed up that I paid the bill and left. TRIED to leave, rather, because a big delivery truck was in their yard blocking the garage bay my car was in. "You'll have to wait for the truck to move then we'll pull your car around." All the while, customer after customer was in and out before me, receiving kind and quick service. When I got home, I looked over the bill and I saw that I had been charged $29.99 for my oil change ($5 more than what the coupon read), I had been charged $11 for the engine flush I was bullied into having (and I never said "yes, please do this"), and the $2-$3 lug nut was $4.50+$2 "shop fee". All plus tax of course. Needless to say, I am NOT pleased with my experience and will not return to Monro. read more

Stopped by with flat tire; was informed that the tire size(215/55/17) was rare and that there was no inventory within the system. Was told they would have to contact their tire supplier to confirm availability. OK not a problem; but mgr was not encouraging and suggested that other tire retailers would be more helpful. Ok, left and will never return; apparently a moron who doesn't need the business. By the way, checked the Monroe website and they list 29 tires(by various manufactures) available in the tire size 215/55/17. The moron mgr is apparently unaware of the Monroe website. read more

Horrible. Imagine this....simple winter tire change over. Two weeks later the front left wheel of your wife's car comes off and hits two other vehicles in traffic. $3000 in damages. Lug nuts NOT stripped, but GONE, left rear loose. Right side nice and tight. Insurance nightmare. I spoke with Austin ("Manager") on the phone. He was less than helpful. I was greeted on time by my first name! That's service. I had a State Inspection and was there for 30 minutes. great professional staff.

I had a exhaust that I wanted to install on my car. After getting about halfway through installation I realized the rest of the bolts were far too rusty for me to get off by myself with just hand tools. I came into Monro Muffler in Essex near Wicked Wings hoping they could torch out the 3 bolts that were preventing me from getting the old exhaust off. I was told that the soonest they could get me in was monday at 1pm so I said that was fine and booked the appointment. I asked for an estimate how much it would be since it was only 3 bolts that needed to be removed the guy who seemed to be the manager quoted me 100 to 140 dollars to do the job. I felt the price seemed a bit high since half the job was already done but I reluctantly said okay since I was in a bind. I show up on monday at 1 and check in for my appointment. I look down at the schedule thing on their counter and I can clearly see my name is crossed out. Only I never cancelled and no one ever called me??? That strikes me as odd but I patiently wait in the waiting room. At about 1:15 a "tech" brings my car into the bay to begin working on it. After a lot of banging and loud noises in no time at all he has the old original exhaust off. I assume things are going well as I see he is fitting up the new exhaust well before 2 pm. I figured it would be about an hour job tops for any halfway decent mechanic. Except he was not. My car is rolling back out of the bay at around 2:10 and the keys are returned to the guy dealing with customers in the waiting room. He tells me my car is all set and attempts to charge me 180 dollars!!! I say okay well i was quoted 100-140 and that took barely an hour. He then decides to charge me 140 after he had admitted he had "made a mistake". Kinda shady especially since the dealership probably wouldn't of even charged that much but okay at this point I just wanna get outta here as the waiting room is dusty and uninviting. I hop in my car to leave and fire it up. Instantly I am staring at a nice bright orange CHECK ENGINE light. I am not dumb and I even took a picture of my cars dash the morning i left for Monro muffler with no check engine light on for this very reason. I instantly go back in and ask why I suddenly have a check engine light on. They give me this incredibly bullshit excuse that because its a aftermarket exhaust that its messing with the o2 sensor. Hmmmmm Only the exhaust mounts up to a flange thats AFTER the sensor. So there was no difference in the exhaust flow leading up to the sensor....That just didn't make any sense to me and a tech at the Automaster laughed out loud when i told him that what he had said. The guy at the counter of Monro says to drive around a bit and the ecu will adjust and the light will go off. Again I was skeptical when they told me that but was tired of being there so i left and headed to auto zone to have the computer scanned for codes. Sure enough the code coming up is for Primary o2 sensor. I am not dumb and I know that those sensors are delicate and my guess is the tech was very rough on the stock exhaust while removing it and the sensor was damaged in the process. I have driven around for two weeks now and to no surprise the light remains to stay on. I now am getting poor gas mileage due to the damaged o2 sensor causing the car to run rich. These guys are shady and do shoddy work. They will never see another dollar from me. read more
