The waiter we had was very nice, kept checking up on us and asking if everything was okay. I had the Roast Beef and it was a little too pink, but it tasted great. I wished the vegetable medley that they gave would be a bit bigger, but it tasted like fresh vegetables. There are a lot of mixed reviews on this place, and my dining experience here wasn't superb but it wasn't horrible. We ordered eggs Benedict with corn beef hash, which was something I have never seen before. It looked different compared to others i have had in the past. However it wasn't a bad dish. The pancakes were good, however the syrup was practically liquid. It was like water, and the handle was extremely sticky, probably wasn't cleaned after the last person used it. The diet coke I got was flat. Now some people hate flat soda, and some love it, but an FYI to everyone, it was flat. The beer we ordered was kinda expensive for a diner as well. Overall, I guess this place is a hit or miss. If your willing to flip a coin with heads being a good experience here, and tails being a bad one, then I guess I would stop by and try it out. read more

Absolutely horrible service! Took 15 mins just to get a glass of water. They screwed up my order-requested no tomatoes-was covered in diced ones. The waiter also brought out 2 of the 4 meals ordered followed 10 mins later by the other 2. The manager was very unapologetic when I explained what happened-he didn't even offer to make a new plate. Been here on 3 occasions and have never had a good experience. Today reminded us why we never come here. The owner put in food order for his friends, regulars even though they came in well after us. In terms of places to eat this is simply the worst. I would touch up on the food quality but unfortunately that's not possible being that the staff there was unable to bring me and my friends menus during our 20 minute visit. We were greeted at the door with a glare that should only be given to a child that was caught cheating on his final exam. After a huge issue was made about where me and my 3, yes that's right a total of four people would be sat, we were brought to a naked table with nothing but a salt shaker.... how fancy. My friends were excited to eat here because they had heard good things but I don't know how that is possible, needless to say that after 10 minutes of not getting a millisecond of attention from a worker there the excited began to simmer down dramatically. As we sat down for another 10 minutes observing he other eating around us with still no menus we became frustrated and tried giving a simple hand raise for recognition. I was happy to see that one of the workers there had made eye contact and began walking to our table. As I began to get ready to ask for some actual service they quickly turned away shaking their head... unbelievable. It was at this point that we had to give up as it had seemed that our country would be going into another world war before me and my four friends would be granted with menus. I live in Monroe and I have not eaten at the Monroe Diner in a while. I think this will be the last time we will come back...our service sucked. In the past the service was fairly quick and food good. At first our waitress was quick to bring us water and our coffee. But then she disappears for a long while when we were ready to order. We had to ask another waitress to get our waitress...Our waitress came and took our order and it came in a reasonable amount of time. When we were finished, again our waitress was no where to be seen, but I saw her when the kitchen door swings opened, she was in the kitchen hiding and busy looking at her smartphone... We wanted our check and my wife wanted to take half her sandwich with her and needed a take out container. We waited and waited looking for the waitress again and again I can see into the kitchen and I can see our waitress was back on her phone busy checking her messages and texting. So we got up, brought the plate with the sandwich to the cashier and ask for a plastic container, we paid and decided never to come back. We've eaten here many times before but this time, we decided not to return. We like diners in general because the food is good with quick service...The food at this diner was mediocre but the service was way below expectations for a diner. I hope they will train (or retrain) their servers better to do their job...We live here and we know there are better eateries here with better food and service. read more
