I've been coming here for a few years now, from before it became a Monsoon. There's only a generic "Indian Food" sign outside. Even once inside, you wouldn't know it's a Monsoon unless you look at their award wall from a few years ago. I was the only person here on a Thursday at noon. The ambiance is typical Indian. Service is fast and friendly. There are about nine entrees to choose from, including many veg, plus rice, sauces, and dessert. While it is perfectly satisfactory, I just can't get excited about the textures or tastes. I've had quite a few better tasting Indian food buffets. Sorry I won't return, as I so miss the pre-Covid heydays of Indian buffets. read more

Hostess and server Jessica has the most beautiful and welcoming Smile and Demeanor ! We are Sharmas' so we love Indian Food . With age the hot spices are a lil less agreeable. Excellent Indian food with generous portions & good advice from the friendly staff. We ate the chicken madras at a 5 heat along with some Nam bread. Ordered on their website...you have two choices to order on line. Clover or Chow Now. I ordered from Clover and have never had an issue with other restaurants. Apparently their system is not set up to take on-line orders...they said the kitchen never received the order. We showed them the order confirmation and breakdown of what we ordered. We asked for a credit since we didn't want to wait another 30 minutes for them to prepare the order. They refused to refund our card. According to restaurant staff, owners are aware of the problem with on-line orders and have done nothing to resolve. read more

This is our second time at Monsoon. We came with 5 people and ordered Palak Paneer, Shahi Paneer, Bhaingan Bharta, Chicken Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken, Lamb Vindaloo and Garlic Naan. Our favorites were the Chicken Tikka Masala and Palak Paneer but all the dishes were flavorful and so fresh! The waitress is great and boxed up the leftovers for us. One of the chefs came out to greet us and to check if the food was good. We got level 4 heat (out of 10) and next time we will bump it up to 5/6. The Taj Mahal beer was refreshing. No photos since we dug in as soon as it was served. Highly recommend. Best Indian food in the valley. They have a lunch buffet on weekends and weekdays. We haven't tried it but if their a La carte menu is anything to go by, it's a winner for sure. read more

The food is surprisingly good. The service was okay because there were two ladies going back and forth . One lady said yes to all of our requests like making onion naan instead of garlic naan. She ordered our food number 5 which was still very spicy but just right for us. The tikka was very different than we usually get on a sizzling plate with large pieces of onion. This one was good and very large but I'm just used to the usual way it's cooked. We loved the spinach, rice, naan, and eggplant. The portions are very large. Staff is arrogant and don't care--this is not real Indian food, it's what they have discovered Americans will eat and call it Indian. We arrived at 7 pm and it looked like the early dinner crowds were just leaving. We tried Chicken Vindaloo, Chicken Curry, Lamb Vindaloo, Garlic Naan, Vegetable Samosa, and Vegetable Pakoras. The food was very good and spicy enough. I usually try their spiciest of the vindaloo, but not this time since I was sharing my dish. It looked like a nice family run restaurant in a strip mall. The decor of the restaurant is very simple. Nothing exciting. You could have a dance hall in the middle of the room. It was clean. The customer service was very good. We had a larger group of five. We ordered about five different dishes which were all very tasty. I think, as far as spice level goes, that they are not as spicy as restaurants I've run across before. I'm from the CA North Bay and the Indian restaurants there are pretty spicy. Monsoon's medium spice was, I think to me, fairly mild. So my tip would be to up the spice a bit when they ask you your spice level you would like when you order. We all loved the restaurant and will definitely return. read more

This time I got something different and not what the server had recommended before. I don't remember what I got the first time but the second and third I've gotten the chicken korma, and a side of Naan bread. 10 out of 10. Highly recommend it the first two times I went. It seemed pretty slow in the restaurant with only one or two people in the restaurant and then maybe a couple more coming in after me. Restaurant looks like it has a buffet, but I don't think I would recommend it. The food kinda looks like it has been sitting there for a minute because they don't get much traffic. This place was recommended to me, but it was the Palm Springs location.. I'll definitely order takeout again as the food was ready as soon as I got there. We were excited to have Indian food for Christmas Eve dinner. We had been to Monsoon before and the food is ok. The mint chutney is not that flavorful. But the worst thing is we ordered 2 glasses of wine ($7 each) and first they brought one glass out. When they brought the 2nd glass out it was a bigger glass and a bit fuller than the first. We laughed and commented to the waiter that he was more generous with the 2nd glass. Then, he charged us $41 for a WHOLE BOTTLE OF WINE!!! I made the mistake of not looking at the receipt until we got home (we were in town for just the one night) so I couldn't go back to complain. Going downhill, used to come a lot but new owner ship has ruined it. I called for take out and it was busy. Finally got through and they had me "hold for a customer in front of her" for 10 mins. I hung up and just went in and tried calling before I entered and it was still busy, they're answering and telling people to hold and not hanging up or answering to get people to not order. This was over an hour before closing.... I went in and the lady was mopping and closing up. They had one person eating and I could clearly hear her talking to her co workers while on hold. Was visiting Palm Desert and was craving for some masala tea, found this place close to my resort and came in to get some. We had to wait a few minutes before the lady, (who apparently ran the restaurant alone) took our order, another 20 minutes before I got up to remind her about my order and she shouted to the guy in the kitchen to make our chai, he took another 10 minutes and handed us the cups $3.99 each with plenty of sugar on the side, wish I had checked the tea, it was just boiled milk with some spices, didn't even come close to tea, let alone masala tea. read more

The Navratan Korma was a creamy, vegetable and cashew delight. The organic Palak Paneer was also stellar. Everything went well with the large side of rice and garlic naan.
