First time leaving a review on here but I went here with my husband and family on Saturday night and the food was absolutely delicious!! We've been trying to find some good Indian food in the valley and this place has definitely been our favorite so far! The garlic naan was perfect, not too fluffy not too crispy. So many Indian spots we've been to fail to achieve this! Our waitress (her name was Alia/Alicia one of those!) was amazing even though it became extremely packed and it was just her attending tables! I expected to be checked on less frequently once it was packed but no! she was very attentive, sweet and our cups were never empty. 10/10 experience even the owner came out and checked on us! very nice older gentleman. Monsoon has a few locations throughout the desert but this was my first time visiting their Indio spot after going to their Palm Springs location a handful of times. Safe to say...it did not disappoint. The space is large, comfortable, and the staff were super welcoming, perfect whether you're popping in for a solo lunch or meeting up with friends for dinner. They also offer a lunch buffet for $19.99 which is a great deal and super popular. Service here is friendly and laid back in the best way. No rushing you out the door, just a relaxed, casual vibe that lets you actually enjoy your meal and take your time. Here's what I'd order again (and again): Chicken Tikka Masala: Call me basic or call me consistent...but a good tikka masala is everything! Theirs is fantastic. The chicken was juicy, the sauce was rich and flavorful. Always ordering this dish here because it's one of the best chicken tikka masala's I've had in a while! 5/5 stars. Specialty Daal: I missed the exact name of this style of daal, but WOW was it good. Creamy, hearty, and packed with flavor. Such a solid option if you're going meatless, give this a try. 5/5 stars. Garlic Naan: Slightly crispier than your typical naan, which I actually loved though. Perfectly cooked with that fragrant garlic flavor, the perfect vessel for dipping into their sauces. 4/5 stars. The only slight miss here was the white rice. Seemed a little more cooked then I prefer but it wasn't a huge deal. Just worth noting. Overall, this is a solid go to Indian spot in the 760. We returned for lunch and were happy to see they offered a lunch buffet with a wide variety of dishes. The server held a large metal compartmentalized dish and ladled the foods we wanted want onto it. The downside is that the food quickly cooled off on the metal plate and the servings were so large that we left a lot of food behind. We prefer a serve-yourself buffet where we spoon small amounts of everything for us to taste, and then returning for a little bit more of our favorites. We also prefer dishes that help maintain the food temperature. Lastly, the naan... When it is done right it is light, puffed up with air pockets, and has a bit of ghee spread on it. Some of the naan here was undercooked, none of it was puffed up, and there was no ghee. While the buffet has a great price point, I think we'll stick to ordering ala carte so that our food stays warm and so that we can take home what we don't finish. read more

The saag was very sweet, inedible really. The butter chicken tasted off. The tandoori chicken was very tough. The young girl working kept wiping her nose & face with her hand. This has become our go to Indian food in the valley. They took over for BurgerIM and it's amazing what they did. The old place had sewer issues and we referred to it as poo poo burger. The new owner took care of that issue and it only smells of delicious food. There is good seating, a clean restaurant, and some spices to purchase if you so choose. We really like everything that we've tried and it's not surprising. Support them and give them a try. read more

Our waitress was super nice and gave great recommendations! We have tried several Indian restaurants around the valley and I'm going to be honest this is my favorite one now. Amazing! The food is phenomenal with such a savory taste. The butter chicken with the level four spice along with rice and garlic naan is to die for, my mouth always waters thinking about it. I just left Monsoon Indian Cuisine and it was great! I had vegetables samosas and fresh jumbo prawns flavored with spices and cooked in spinach. I tried over rice! Delicious! Truly enjoyed the food... but we walked in this week and not only did the men say they were closed, but their dirty feet (they literally had black at the bottom of their feet) were up on the table like if they were relaxing un their living room! VERY DISAPPOINTING! I have been to this location of Monsoon many times, but usually in season (Nov-early May). Who knows, maybe their usual chef was on vacation, but this was the worst food we'd ever had there. Almost nothing was fresh, everything seemed old and reheated. The cauliflower appetizer usually has a light crisp coating with a tangy sauce. This was heavily coated and the sauce just made it soggy and gummy, like it had been sitting around a long time. The samosas were lukewarm inside. The garlic naan was a CRIME, usually hot, pliable, dripping with butter or gee and fresh garlic, this was like leftover pizza that had been left on a conference room table for hours -- room temperature cardboard with no fresh butter or garlic. The chicken tikka masala and channa masala were good but the chicken berryani was sad. The dark meat chicken was dried out, bland and the whole dish felt like leftovers. We may give them another try in the future, but I hope they regain their freshly made form or they will lose us forever. read more

I ordered takeout with delivery for Thanksgiving (I lived in New Delhi for 3 years and love Indian food) and it was great! Chicken saag, aloo parantha, aloo gobi and garlic naan are my comfort food. Craving butter chicken. Indian food is not common in the desert with only a few restaurants in the area. Been here before so thought we'd try it again. First of all, the server (should have asked her name!) was so friendly, kind and attentive. Started off our meal with papadam with three types of chutney - the mint and tamarind were my favorites. Ordered the lentil soup. Served hot and very fragrant. Wish there wasn't so much ginger as it overpowered the yellow lentils (we love ginger but it was TOO much). Butter chicken is always our favorite. Monsoon presented delicately cooked and moist chicken but beware when ordering Medium Spice - they served it to us as spice level 5 which was VERY spicy. Suggest ordering it as spice level 3. Server was kind enough to get us some regular sauce to dilute down the fire in our dish. Onion kulcha was flavorful but overcooked - hard and crunchy. Garlic naan was covered in jarred processed garlic and super greasy. I ended up scrapping the garlic off. Note to Chef - please use fresh garlic, the jarred garlic is way too intense and ruined the flavor of the naan. Bottom line - service is amazing, but the chef needs to ease up on the seasonings. So many wonderful things to say! The food was delicious, obviously made with love and care. The potions were perfect, served family style with rice. Our server, Leslie, is just a wonderful human being. She clearly had extensive knowledge of the menu, knew how to compare spices, and was very accommodating. Kindness goes a long way and she did just that! The chef who made our food was also very proud of the meal, as he kept coming to check on us and make sure everything was perfect, which it was. They explained their buffets that they have everyday which sounds incredible and I'm sorry I missed it. The space is very clean and calm, and Leslie even moved tables around so that we could all sit together (5) at a booth!
