We had a great dinner on Tuesday evening. Service was impeccable and friendly waiter. Atmosphere was comfortable and not too loud from other tables. Bread oil and cheese service was amazing, fresh grated cheese as we watched. Delicious! The scallop and bacon w maple sauce was incredible, just wish there were more than 3! Fresh scallops and tasty bacon. Expensive for just 3 pieces. The chicken pasta w vodka sauce was heavenly, fresh pasta and the sauce divine, so flavorful and creamy. The shrimp florentine w linguine capers was outstanding! Large portions too! Can't rave enough. And will certainly go back next visit to Truro. A smile goes a long way--on my own face. I kept smiling despite being greeted (by the hostess) without one and it took maybe 10 seconds for their smile to appear. Delayed but better than nothing. Last night was our traditional Vaca Monday night dinner out at Montano's. I (we) had lowered expectations based on recent Yelp reviews. These low star reviews (mostly based on change of ownership after being family run for decades) you can read for yourself. (We even tried, but failed, to get into another restaurant without reservations-- See "Blackfish"). There was no wait for a table. That was a nice break from tradition, but had me wary. The place would always be jammed and there was always a wait for a table. Keep smiling, I reminded myself. 4 for Food (under-seasoned but no other noticeable change from previous visits-- still generous portions) 3.5 for Service (why does wait staff disappear?) 3 for wine list (only 1 Rose) 5 for cleanliness 4 sound / ambience (1940s big band shifted to 1960s then contemporary by the time we got the check-- seated next to a large table with social media immersed tweens and another table with a fussy baby) read more

Have seen lots of mixed reviews, but both my husband and I love a good Italian meal and wanted to give them a try. After 30 minutes without waters we started to get nervous that we were going be here for a long time. We've seen lots of reviews for their prime rib, which my husband loves, so that is what he ordered and I ordered the chicken Parmesan. After waiting an hour and 20 minutes from when we put our order in the prime rib was brought out cross seared like a steak would be. He ordered it medium rare, I have never seen anything like it. My chicken Parmesan was the saddest excuse of an Italian meal I've ever seen. It was served on a narrow skinny plate with some of the most bland sauce and a very small handful of pasta underneath it. When the plates were served to us both my husband and I looked at each other and laughed. It seemed like a joke that an Italian restaurant would serve the meals that they brought out to us. After already being there for so long, we both wanted to just leave but with it now approaching 9pm (arriving at 6:45), we knew we weren't gonna be getting dinner anywhere else. Although he tried to send back his food (something He's never done before) the waitress kept trying to explain that inside was medium rare. Other people around us ordered prime rib, and there's looked nothing like this so we honestly have no idea how the kitchen sent this food out, but he could not even cut it in half it was so tough. Very disappointing. We are very understanding of restaurants on Cape Cod that struggle with staff but if it's going to be that detrimental to the customers experience, you probably shouldn't keep taking customers and should close early if you can't accommodate. This is a favorite of my parents. So when I made a request to sit on the side of the restaurant where it didn't smell like vomit I was told I could wait for 40 minutes or leave . I don't give negative reviews without reason. However, I felt this place could be better if the hostess simply tried to be pleasant. Not worth going into excessive detail but I found the hostess to be unpleasant and not helpful when requesting a seat change. The East side of the restaurant towards PTown had some open tables and I asked for a table near the tv where the world cup was playing. She brought us to the other side where thankfully there was also a TV with the world cup. In any event this side of the restaurant (west side) towards Wellfleet had a strong smell of vomit. Probably because of a family with a baby. In any event sometimes you can't do anything about that.... But the hostess (lady with glasses maybe in her 60's) was an absolute piece of work. She didn't seem surprised but gave me a PBF look and told me that I could wait for 40 minutes to sit on the otherside or you can leave. I stayed because my parents like this place. After two weeks of eating all local fish what a joy for me to finish our trip at Montanos and indulge in a Prime Rib Dinner ( The size of Kentucky) lol! First the appetizers We enjoyed a "grilled" Romaine with chunky home made blue bacon small halved multicolored tomatoes delicious!! Next and This was the only weak spot and 100% my own fault. I read on the menu about U-10 Gulf Shrimp. Foolishly I opted for this app and frankly it was a complete let down.. Four Standard out of the bag shrimp Not crisp when bitten into and not chilled properly and what was I thinking not at all local (probably U-15) at the largest $19 I should of chosen the LOCAL day boat Scallops wrapped in a maple glaze Bacon They looked amazing and you'll never get scallops Any better then Cape Cod Day Boats on the entire planet! Now on to ALL the Good News!! My wife ordered a fresh made pasta in a white wine sauce with a dozen fresh local little necks She enjoyed it immensely! As stated I came for the Prime Rib and OMG It was epic in size 32oz and was perfectly prepared,cooked and plated! They had two sizes 16oz $37 or a Two pound 32 oz for $44 which honestly was a great price and easily two full meals! It was plated with grilled Fresh asparagus and a lovely creamy mashed also both delicious This is now going to be one of our "traditions" Just remember skip the shrimp and get the scallops off the app menu! Went to dinner early on a Sunday and got a table right away. The service however, was less than satisfactory. Our server was either having a bad night or maybe she always seems unhappy. Either way 3 out of 4 of us ordered pasta. It was so over cooked mine was in a clump and when I ate it, it was so chewy it got stuck in my teeth. The flavor was on point but the cook on the pasta was awful. After our meals were served, we didn't see our server again until it was time for the check. Another server saw our empty dishes and cleared the table after he walked by several times and saw they were still there. My family stopped at Montano's for take out on our way home from the beach. We ordered veal Marsala, spaghetti and meatballs and chicken Parmesan. My daughter enjoyed the spaghetti and meatballs. Good flavor, good portion size. My veal Marsala was just ok. Not a lot of flavor. Not sure if I was expecting more Marsala in it or what. It had an oily flavor to it. Good amount of mushrooms though. My wife's chicken parm was really good sized. Nice pounded out chicken breast layered over linguine but she was not overly impressed with the flavor of the sauce. It seemed a bit on the bland side lacking seasoning. Possibly we hit Monteros on an off night. read more

Montano's is a great Italian restaurant located in Turro, Cape Cod. Pleasant ambiance. The waitress brought a hot loaf of bread to my table and grated fresh Parmesan cheese on a plate. Then poured olive oil next to it. It was delicious. I had to resist eating the whole loaf. My entree was squash ravioli. Also very delicious. I topped the meal off with a tall Peroni. Long day at Race Point dictated take out dining so we chose Montano's. The $10 kids spaghetti and meatball dinner was prepared and presented better than my $29 linguine/clam dinner. Pics show a dozen clams after shelling (Maybe $7 at the market?) and a cup of linguine that was starchy & clumped together. You can't stir or rinse the pasta when you cook it? Small chunk of hard bread wrapped in foil. If I had been seated and served this I would have sent it back, instead getting a big disappointment when I got home. Wow.... Wow! Another Amazing meal at Montano's. Homemade Linguine, meatballs with marinara...lovely; Butternut Squash paper thin ravioli..... light and full of flavor! Fettuccine pasta carbonara....YES CHEF! I'm a huge fan of the carbonara dish, and Montano's Nailed it. We did start with fried calamari, and it was a huge portion of lightly fried rings. It was excellent. Even though we were all very full from our meals we decided to split a piece of the house made Key Lime pie. It was a generous slice which three of us ate from. Homemade crust, filling was dense yet lite with great key lime flavor. This pie would stand up to any pie in Key West. Shout Out to our server Jess. She was personable and professional. Jess offered suggestions and was attentive to our requests. Montano's deservingly earned 5/5 Mai Tai's on our restaurant rating scale: 1. Ambience/cleanliness (also, good music playing) 2. 30 years coming here and this place has gotten terrible (new owners). The wait staff is wonderful except for the person who seems to be the manager and waits tables gray hair ponytail). Looks like everything needs to be cleared through her before being denied by her. There's no little micro greens extras. The cooks take twice as long as needed. I get it. The further out onto the Cape you go, the more expensive things get. We've eaten out a lot this week and Montano's is by far the most expensive place we've eaten. Montano's Restaurant is a gourmet Italian restaurant that opened in Truro, Massachusetts in 1988. It was founded by chef Robert Montano. Growing up in an Italian family in Connecticut, Montano and his mother would make fresh pasta together on Sundays. As a young man, he studied culinary arts and graduated from Johnson & Wales University. His first big job was managing a restaurant in Seekonk (MA). When a restaurant space became available in Truro, Montana jumped at the chance to secure it and he's had it ever since. He frequently visited Cape Cod as a boy on fishing trips with his father and always liked the area. The menu at Montano's features freshly made pastas and sauces, dry-aged prime steaks, locally sourced seafood, New Haven-style pizza, and housemade desserts. My extended family and I visited Montano's on our recent week-long trip to the Cape. I had previously heard that Montano's is the only restaurant in all of Cape Cod that serves New Haven-style pizza. Coming from New Haven myself, this alone made me want to eat there. We arrived minutes after they opened for dinner. For cocktails, my wife and sister-in-law had the "Pomegranate Martini" (Pama Liqueur, Absolut Vodka, Cointreau) and I had the "Citrus Martini" (Absolut Citron, Absolut Mandarin, Cointreau, Splash of Lemonade). These were excellent summer cocktails! My sister-in-law had the "Crab Cake" (house-made jumbo lump crab, citrus aioli) as an appetizer. For entrees, she had the "Butternut Squash Ravioli" (house-made, roasted butternut squash, toasted pine nuts) and my mother-in-law had the "Chicken Parmigiana" (served over house-made linguine). The rest of us wanted pizza! We ordered three for the table to share: "Margherita" (fresh tomatoes, basil, cheese, olive oil), "Vegetable" (broccoli, onion, mushroom, roasted peppers, sauce and cheese), and "White Clam" (mozzarella cheese, clams, garlic, bacon). All of the food was delicious but the pizza was a big hit at our table! Owner Bob Montano was nice enough to come out and talk to us; he was happy to get a visit from other New Havenites. By the time we left, the whole place was packed with a long line out the door. We had a fantastic experience at Montano's and will definitely be back on future trips to the Cape! read more

Long standing restaurant in Truro. Under new management though food is just as good. A beautiful place with great service. Quiet, friendly and the perfect amount of time to enjoy dinner and a good conversation. I had the ricotta and basil ravioli while Squiddy enjoyed the saltimbocca. He thought it was great though for his taste "too much mozzarella". This Irish girl tried a bit with Squiddy the Italian, but to each their own. My ravioli was perfect and THE BREAD!! Sooo good with olive oil and fresh parmigiana. The bread alone could have been my main meal. We enjoyed it so much the next day we ordered take out, a pizza and salad. Which we enjoyed while watching the whales dine. We both did comment that the dough was too floury, and dry, unlike the previous time Squiddy had pizza there. We chose eggplant parmesan, fruiti de mer and beef ragu. The homemade pasta was very tasty. The seafood dish was chock full of shellfish. Sauces were a bit too oily for our palates but easy enough to rectify next time. We were treated to a comp key lime pie for my birthday. It was sublime!! Our server made the night flow! Food was terrible. Don't order the chicken parm. Chicken was out of a frozen package. Lots of breading no chicken. Dinner was warm not hot.

Discovered this little gem on the way to Provincetown. There were four of us. I started off with a peach Cosmo which was fabulous, and my mom started off with the fig martini. Both drinks were excellent served in their own mini shakers. To start off, we ordered the Arancini as an appetizer. This was really delicious, and had an extremely crispy Exterior, with a soft rice and melted cheese interior. It was just perfec! II loved the sauce it came with. But the bread! The freshly baked bread was served on a cutting board with a dish of olive oil and freshly grated Parmesan on it to dip into. The waitress grated it for us. It was outstanding! For entrées, we ordered the swordfishbl special , the chicken Saltimboca, the chicken Parmesan, and chicken Pompei. Each entrée was better than the next! The swordfish was exceptional, with a delicious sauce. I absolutely adored the chicken Saltimbocca , with a wonderful marsala sauce lots of olives and lots of drippy cheese. The chicken Parm was really crisp and huge! Very delicious and I love the chicken Pompei! It was really flavorful with peppers and artichokes. This dinner was excellent! For dessert, we were so full, we ordered one slice of Keylime pie to share. That was also just perfect! I can't wait to come back here and try other things.
