My favorite bar for over a quarter of a century. Fun, friendly, unpretentious, good old fashioned workingman's watering hole untouched by modern bougieness and gentrification.

It's old school with class of its own. Bar itself is tiny and probably can only accommodate 10 people at a time. There's a pool table and 2 TV for your viewing pleasure. You can play music through the jukebox and chat over simple drinks. Don't ask for Old Fashioned or Manhattan or anything complicated. Just selection of beers and straight up shots or whiskey over rocks. No food but there is a vending machine. The white tiles in the bathroom is interesting and definitely a place to strike a pose if you want. People are friendly and you will see old guys sipping on beer chatting up the night with the bartender. I met a nice fellow named Kevin who told me all about the bar. It's $3.75 for beer and $7.75 for others. You can go wrong with $20 for 1 glass of whiskey and 2 beers with tip for the night.

Sketched at this bar no one bothered me. I love for that reason- everyone is very Chill!!!!

Checked this divy bar in my neighborhood-and it was exactly what I wanted dive bar to be!! Cheap-ass drinks ($3.75 beers and $7-8 cocktails), chill bartender, little dinge interior, juke box, pool table, vending machine with crackers/ chips, CASH ONLY, and strange-but-interesting local ppl to talk to!!! I had awesome time with my husband here, was not busy at first but started to fill up. One of the people at the bar said this place was filmed with "Anthony Bourdain" at some point. While another person talked about "David Choe" being customer in that bar. I could careless about who comes and visits there- I loved and digged the vibe-had good time! Definitely would be back for quick drinks. (Though beer selections are very limited)

FIRST OFF, the jukebox is legit. along with ur mexican cantina classics, you have motherfuckin TWIN SHADOW and the clash, and the stones, freakin florence and the machine. bobby d (dylan) and TONI BRAXTON. that's five stars right damn there. BUT... ALSO... they have the best shittiest pool table in all of Los Anjeles County. GUARANTEED. HANDS DOWN. why? the short stick is a full size stick broken in half (probably in a bar fight, yup). There is no 8 BALL, the bartender (who is fucking awesome) says it was fucking stolen. bam. DIVE BAR. ALSO there is no 7 BALL. but there are two #2s. so, well, get creative. there is a HANDMADE 8 BALL. you'll know it when u see it. oh and the pool table has to be operated with a key. you just pay the bartender when u wanna play. its that divey. THE DRINKS are NOT watered down. mari (sp?) does not rip u off. she's a really awesome bartender. that said this IS a dive bar. and what kind of dive bar would stock cherries?? NOT THIS ONE. nope! my woman couldnt get any cherries here and we were DAMN pleased. went here for a BIRTHDAY drink. what other bartender would send the bar's DRUNKEST patron to go fetch a donut, so she could light up some candles and sing me happy birthday??? this place is the SHIT. also this place is a stone's throw away from the equally badass Shatto Lanes Retro Bowling EStablishment Haven. pair the two and call it a fucking awesome night. GO HERE TONIGHT. (bring friends though) also there's sports and vh1/mtv on the teevee.

The Monte Carlo is the place I head to after a long day at work. I look forward to seeing Mari (the cute, friendly Japanese bartender) pour me a drink. She's always super sweet and easy to talk to and the drinks are cheap and good. You'll find lots of old regulars here sitting at the bar and there's always somebody playing pool. The jukebox is great because it's so bad! It doesn't play anything past the year 2000. I'm almost afraid of writing this review because I don't want to share this dive bar with anyone else. I love the Monte Carlo!

One of the best dive bars in LA. If you know, you know. Great pregame spot before shows in downtown. Cheers!

My favorite place. One of the last of the good old-fashioned dive bars not yet assimilated by creeping upscaledom and gentrification.

This review is from my experience on May 25th, Monday night about an hour or two before closing…read more To preface, the security at the front outside is awesome. I left my phone at the bench outside and he grabbed it quickly before anyone could steal it so I really appreciate that. I believe he had piercings, really down to earth and friendly, awesome guy! However, the bartenders are extremely pretentious, insolent, and unfortunately I'd go as far as to say potentially predatory. Long story short, one of the bartenders with a beard and glasses facing the outdoor patio was serving my girlfriend two shots, when she only ordered one. She was already over her limit and I thought that was very suspicious, ... I had been in the restroom during this time and when I got back she told me she had only ordered one, yet he insisted he was ringing her up for two. It seemed to me like he was trying to get her drunk at the time he thought she was unattended (keep in mind she is 22 and he looked over 35 easily). This was odd because he simultaneously was judging her for saying she only wanted one, not two shots, even though it may have been a simple case of her misspeaking. I explained to him and he refused to change the bill, forcing her to not just over drink but also charge us more than we intended to pay in the process. Given that the bar was about to close in about 40 minutes AND it was a Monday, I found it especially strange he would do this. I work in service jobs and I have never given anyone any hassle for making a mistake about what they wanted to order, even if it was a case of them simply changing their mind. There was absolutely no reason for him to not just go back and change the order and charge us for the one drink. It felt extremely uncomfortable and it was quite disappointing, seeing as we usually have a fine time here. Sadly I don't think we or any of our friends will be coming again after this. To anyone looking to go to this bar, PLEASE be careful and aware of these strange upsells and predatory practices that certain bartenders at the establishment participate in.

There aren't many tables or bar seats. I've heard the line is frequently out the door, and if you want seating it's best to line up before they open. They do not take reservations. We came in on a whim around 9PM on a Friday night. The bar was packed, but thankfully there wasn't a line out the door. After heading in we found a sliver of standing room in a corner to order a couple drinks. After about twenty minutes a couple at the bar left and we were able to snag some chairs. The atmosphere and ambience is decent. There are neat decorations and trinkets everywhere. The music was a playlist of random music which isn't really my thing. There were two bartenders working who were friendly and prompt. The price point is fine around $15 per drink. I was very underwhelmed by their rum and cocktail program, though. I suppose given the history and hype of the bar I was expecting much more. They don't use fresh juices, everything is from bottles and cans (think Tropicana), their garnishes are all the same and taste a little off (maybe they're assembled way ahead of time and taste old?), and their rum selection is alright depending on the cocktail you order, but can also be lackluster, too. Overall, it was cool to finally check out Tiki Ti, but it was a one-and-done for me.

When we finally got our beer, I told our server, Noah, that I could pour it myself if that would help. Instead of explaining the situation politely, he responded with attitude and said, "You know I can't serve you guys, right?" I apologized, but then he told us, "Nah, you guys have to leave." This was frustrating after waiting so long just to place an order. We were never rude or disrespectful to the staff, so the interaction felt unprofessional and unnecessary. I completely understand being busy, but customer service should still be respectful. Unfortunately, this experience left a negative impression despite the great welcome we received from Nate.
