Lisette was the best server. Best michelada and the best vibe!!! I'll come back here just for Lissette!!! Owner- give her a raise.

    Dude...yes

We were at The Smell down the street to check out some music when we realized we needed to be drunk in order to enjoy it. So in between sets we waltzed around the neighborhood and first stumbled upon The Edison...and saw the line of about ten thousand people in stripper heels and full suits and concluded it wasn't our scene. We asked a security dude standing on the street, "where can we just get drunk, without a cover or a dress code?" La Costena, that's where! La Costena is a very unassuming, completely Latino bar. And it is AMAZING! From the laid-back locals (one of whom told us he had been going there every day for TEN YEARS...I'll get back to this guy), to the bumpin' Spanish pop hits, to the cheap and ever-flowin' beers, and cute, giggly bar tenders, La Costena has got it goin' on. It also has hispanic women in short dresses who get into pseudo-fights, kicking each other in wedge heels and involving most of the bar patrons to separate...which adds up to complete hilarity. And although there is no dance floor, this does not hamper any one from making any open space into an all-out dance arena. For you white folk, or those of you who just can't dance salsa or the like, you are certainly welcome to dance your drunk white-boy moves with the best of em, as I saw many a person do. To top it all off, I was there with a dude, and the old Mexican Local, whose name I sadly cannot recall, kept buying us round after round of beers! Just because! Just good vibes all around here, tons of laughter and friendly banter between everyone here, and you don't gotta wear dress shoes or PAY to drink here. The fun is free.

    Entertaining. Period.

I love it--it's one of the few places that hasn't been gentrified! It has a very CDMX vibe.

Some interesting decor. I like all the strange bric-a-brac on the walls. Ok service. But dear lord the music is too loud!

There are usually a couple drunk old dudes dancing in the back corner near the juke box, and that's always so fun to watch.

It wasn't your typical corner haunt. There was an intentionality here that turned a simple evening out into a genuine education. The curation of spirits was nothing short of impressive, but what set the experience apart was the conversation. I arrived knowing the difference between a glass and a bottle, but left with a newfound appreciation for the nuances of rum, the craftsmanship behind a smooth whiskey, and the unexpected complexities hidden within a well-made vodka. Each pour came with a story, a history, and a level of expertise that transformed every sip into a lesson. The atmosphere was the perfect anchor for it all--utterly chill and devoid of the frantic, forced energy you find elsewhere. It was the kind of place where the music sits at just the right volume and the lighting invites you to actually linger. It was refreshing to find a spot that treats its craft with such respect while keeping the vibe completely grounded. I walked out feeling a little more cultured and a lot more relaxed. Consider this my official notice: I'll definitely be back.

The drinks were strong (in the best way ) but still super smooth and enjoyable. Shoutout to Rich for being such an incredible host--he made our group feel welcomed, taken care of, and really elevated the whole experience. A couple things to note: there is parking available, but it is paid (you can either text to pay or use the kiosk machines). The experience itself lasts about 40-60 minutes, which felt like the perfect amount of time. The only downside for me was that the bathroom is shared for both genders. For safety reasons, I personally wish they were separate--so ladies, I'd recommend going with someone just to be safe. You just never know. They also give you a little treat afterwards, which was a really nice touch and a sweet way to end the visit! Overall, I'd definitely come back and recommend it to others

As Grand As it gets…read more I've been stopping in to Seven Grand for well over a decade now O.O and I still love this top notch whiskey bar lounge in Downtown Los Angeles. From fun nights out, special occasions, whiskey tastings, exploring the speakeasy... playing some pool, enjoying libations, taking in live music, perfect outings on the patio, the occasional cigar. So many great memories and experiences created here including some awesome date days with my other half. If stopping in for the first time you'll discover S.G. on 7th and Grand Avenue with a door person usually always at the bottom of the staircase just outside of the restaurant/cocktail bar Zaya (which has been many incarnations including Bar CDMX, V and Mas Malo). Provide them with a valid ID, as anybody over 21 should have a valid form of identification on them at all times, not just for driving or access to 21+ events or establishments, but for safety. And Seven Grand cares about everyone and their safety. They value their staff as much as their customers. And it shows in every way from thoughtful space in all directions, great pool tables, a whiskey, bourbon and scotch curated cocktail menu, even some good brew/beer. Awesome hallways with cabinet lockers, the cleanest restrooms, great dim dark warm lighting, fun fixtures and true DTLA vibes that feel old timey yet also very modern. Seven Grand is open to all and all are welcome. Stellar daily happy hour 4pm to 8pm. I love a good $10 Toki Highball at 5pm, but you can't go wrong with their classic old fashion also. All the bartenders are incredible as well as personable. S Grand is open every day from 4pm until 2am. Loads of lots close by as well as the Metro station at 7th and Metro. Though the trains currently stop just a little after midnight. Rideshare is also your friend, which now includes Waymo in the area. Discover Seven Grand also in San Diego, Austin or Denver. If planning an event you inquire with Stephen via email for personal parties, events with a budget and even corporate parties. They're very accommodating with a good amount of notice. When we had my boyfriend's birthday here they reserved a table for us and set us up with everything we needed. Thinking of having my next birthday here myself both at Seven Grand and Bar Jackalope (their hidden speakeasy). Support your awesome LA Whiskey Bar!

Echoing what everyone else has been saying - the service is SO slow. It was about 45 minutes before we were able to order our second drink and our water glasses were empty. They have so many runners bringing the drinks out but only a few servers and, from the looks of it, one bartender (on a Saturday night - what?!). The server was saying he was trying to find a manager to help out but they were nowhere to be found. Clearly management is fine with these service times since they're still making $$$. The drinks were delicious, and I loved that there were heaters on the patio (though they did get very hot at times). Our server was so kind and brought us a celebratory drink. I do wish there were more explanations with the beverages, especially for the Paid Vacation as most people will not realize you're supposed to bite into the buzz button for the tingly sensation. I would come back, but need some time for my wallet to recover first, haha!
