My coworkers and I went to Anthony's Chophouse for a corporate dinner expecting polite small talk and predictable bites and instead got a surprisingly sharp performance with just one awkward seating plot twist. They booked the entire top floor for our group of 30, which sounds luxe... until three of us got exiled to what we joked as "the kiddy table". Nothing says "team unity" like banquet-style seating for most of us and a side quest for the chosen few when there was clearly room to extend the table, so the choice felt less "design" and more "but, why though?" Luckily, the food excellent. Family-style apps kept things social, and the broiled goat cheese disappeared faster than corporate budgets in Q4. The caramelized brussels sprouts with feta and pears(?) was absolutely sproutstanding and worth fighting your VP over. My salmon was cooked like it had something to prove: crisp on the outside, buttery within. The mac and cheese sauce ith what tasted like sharp, aged cheddar was doing the lord's work. We love to try new places & tonight was a FANTASTIC MEAL! We were celebrating a birthday. Wonderful parking in crazy tight Carmel, IN. The atmosphere rich, but not intimidating. The seating tables are nicely spaced out. Not over crowded. Our server Oloft ( forgot how to spell his name ) was SPECTACULAR! The menu is very well laid out and the portions are not disappointing! The staff is very friendly and quick to serve & pre bus the table. Our drinks were delicious AND the dessert drinks you have to try! ALL, the food was fresh and just simply delicious. Came to Anthony's for a work team dinner & had an amazing time. We had a drink at the bar while we waited and this restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and incredibly large! Our waiter, Olaf, started out night out with a bang... He made us feel special, by actually taking time to know what company we were from, what we did & other details which safe to say we'd never seen before! We essentially ordered everything there is to order and there is no bad choice on this menu at all! The appetizers like the bacon and lobster bisque I could eat every day for the rest of my life... SO GOOD! I went with the $79 Wagyu fillet and decided to add the crab oscar on it (because I wasn't paying for it of course)... and it was one of, if not the best steak of my life. The dessert may have been the "worst" thing about the meal, which is saying a lot because it was still good! Even though I'm not a huge cranberry fan, that cheesecake was very good! My coworkers got the choco tacos (childhood throwback), they mentioned they're very peanut buttery, but if that's your vibe then you'll love it! Came to Anthony's for Valentine's dinner. Wow was it lovely! The service was excellent (Audrey gave us so many great suggestions and was attentive and patient). We had the Ravioli and added scallops (again, great tip from Audrey!) and the ribeye. Scrumptious! The chop salad was crisp and savory and by far the best one I have ever had! We got the bacon appetizer and it had a nice sweet heat- I would get that again and will be thinking about for DAYS. Everything was served with generous portions. First time here, we really enjoyed it. We didn't have a reservation, but grabbed two seats at the bar. The two story windows allow a lot of light in, therefore it's bright inside. The bartender was super nice and helpful. We started with two well balanced cocktails. The truffle arancini were perfectly crisp and delicious. After some hemming and hawing, I went with the Spinalis steak, which was an awesome juice. Super great cut and perfectly cooked. My g/f got the sea scallops, which she also loved. If you want a fantastic steak this is the place, starting with a fantastic crab cake moving to the filet trio, all were cooked to perfection and showed the difference in the filet choices. TL; DR: Anthony's has easily become my #1 steakhouse experience in the city. There's no question that the service and cuisine is worth the splurge. It's been a long time since a night out has captivated me as much as my visit to Anthony's! From the moment we stepped into the restaurant until the moment we left, we had an amazing experience. I am always leery of going out on Valentine's Day, because the service at places are usually not as great. This was not the case. First of all, I made a reservation several months in advance. I didn't want to chance not being able to come here. When I arrived, I was greeted by the hostesses who were very professional young ladies. They quickly checked me in and asked to check my coat. I sat in the beautiful lobby while waiting for my husband and the hostesses gave me the option to be seated or to wait. I chose to wait, and when we arrived, we were seated near the kitchen where you can see the kitchen staff preparing dishes. Normally I abhor this area but here was awesome because there was no distraction at all. The kitchen is beautifully designed. Our server, Olaf, was delightful. He started us with a suggestion of a flavorful red wine (Faust) which I enjoyed. If you decide to go with a red, I was suggest considering to go for a bottle of this instead of just a glass. While reviewing the menu, Olaf brought us a dish of warm garlic butter bread with garlic butter spread. Excellent. The steaks here are a very healthy size. I knew that I couldn't eat one alone, so opted to go for an appetizer of crab cakes for my main course. My husband made a decision between the strip, spinalis (which is a special cut of ribeye), or the flight to share with me. We decided on the flight and it was a wonderful decision. 3 different 4 oz cuts which were cooked to perfection - melt in your mouth! I was in awe of how delicious this steak was. We had a prime cut, grass fed, and wagyu. If you've never tried wagyu, you won't be disappointed. I can still taste it! My crab cakes were a great addition to the meal, as they served two of them with a delicious aioli. It was enough for me to share with my husband as well. Highly recommend. For our sides, I had heard good things about the baked Mac and I wasn't disappointed. We also had the broccolini which was flavorful and complimented the meal. Remember that they are family style portions. I went so far as to order dessert. I never do that! Reviews didn't steer me wrong with the bourbon butter cake. Do yourself a favor and look for it. Worth every bite. Shout out to the waitstaff. We were never left with an empty glass of water or dirty dishes hanging around. There are several young men and women who work here, and they are just top notch. I love a professional team of folks no matter where I am. Not to mention, the conversation with Olaf the entire night was great. He was funny and charming and easy to talk to. So listen - I'm already planning my return. Not to mention they have a rewards program where you can earn a hefty $100 coupon after spending $1000. We made a dinner reservation for an early Christmas date night at Anthony's, and it was our first visit there. We enjoyed the upscale ambiance, the location of our table with a great view to the holiday decorated trees outside, and the stellar & friendly service by Olaf and crew. We always over order so that we have leftovers to enjoy at home. Having said that, we ordered the following: Charlie's Pounder Appetizer Octopus Salad Lobster Bisque Swordfish Wagyu Filet & Lobster Tail Baked Creamy Mac & Cheese Roasted Brussels Raspberry Indulgence Dessert (to go) I truly enjoyed the lobster bisque and octopus salad. I'm not normally a meatball appetizer person, but the Charlie Pounder was very tasty and plentiful for sharing. My husband's wagyu filet was amazing, as was the lobster ($148 for both), but I didn't love the swordfish entrée. The menu description for the swordfish states, "14 oz Bone - In, Crab Meat, Savory-Butter Sauce." I took that to mean there would be luscious lump crab meat atop the fish which would lay atop the savory-butter sauce on the plate; instead, it was a thick, creamy crab and butter-type mixture that I did not enjoy. The fish itself was nice, though. I should've asked for clarification before ordering it, so that's on me, but I'll certainly do that going forward! The Brussels had a great flavor profile, but they were a bit mushy for our liking. The baked mac & cheese was decadent (and with a kick!) and we would order it again. I enjoyed two cocktails: Pound Town and Rosemary's Baby. I would definitely recommend the Rosemary's Baby cocktail. Oh, and perhaps random, but I really appreciated: 1) having my water topped off several times [without asking] as well as 2) Olaf keeping our white tablecloth clean by way of a crumb sweeper. We noticed several bar tables around the perimeter of the bar area and have decided we'll opt for dining there next time as a more casual experience with drinks and appetizers. read more

The parking was a little bit of a hassle so if you have a reservation I would plan to arrive early if you aren't valet parking. Once we got seated our waiter was great. His name was Olaf. If you are considering mac and cheese I would recommend the baked creamy mac add lobster. They use their lobster bisque in it and it was delicious. We dined here for lunch yesterday and had a wonderful time and meal. I think not many people realize this restaurant does a lunch, M through F, and I highly recommend. We had the tuna tartare to start, which comes with a crispy rice paper. The tuna was silky, fresh, and beautiful. I had the "lobster roll." I put that in quotes because I lived in New England. I would call this lobster roll more of a lobster toast - however, it was beautifully seasoned, beautifully dressed, perfect texture,and tasted amazing. I would order it again, knowing what I was getting into. My BF had a filet shaved sandwich special. He loved it. I think it is a mark of a well run kitchen to repurpose things like filet shavings into a different item. It shows care and appreciation for the food they are bringing in. Pear cocktail "Pound Town" was a favorite amongst my group. I prefer the unsweet Grey Goose dirty martini, and it was on pointe. Arancini starter was outstanding, lick-the-plate delicious. Pear and goat cheese salad, omggg, the pear was a spiced/poached pear with creamy goat cheese and dried cherries! Both were the best I've ever dreamed of. Mains we ordered included the stuffed chicken with grit cakes and grass fed filet with sides of frites, elote corn, and brussel sprouts. The latter were very good, the corn was sooo good, and the fries were perfection (especially eaten with the steak and especially with the caper aioli). I'm not someone who orders chicken at a restaurant, but it was so delicious it could bring tears to my eyes. This is an upscale steakhouse/American food restaurant in downtown Carmel. This was my first visit. Overall, I'd say the experience was good, but not great. Ambiance: I give high marks in this category. You can't beat the location, and the interior design & decoration are very modern and trendy. I liked the upstairs private room, enclosed in glass, with its own bar. The ambiance matches the expectations that come with a prime section of real estate such as this. The noise level upstairs did get a bit intense at times - my Apple Watch gave me several high decibel warnings. As I sat, eating my meal and looking out the window at the Monon Trail, I remembered that this building sits upon what used to be a lovely little grassy knoll, directly across Main Street from Bub's. They used to do summer concerts on that lot. That's not Anthony's fault, but sometimes I wonder if this really needed to be built.... Service: Service was good, although not necessarily great. Our server did his best to up-sell us on a variety of menu additions that he had obviously been coached to push that night, such as the addition of side scallops and making my Old Fashioned "smoked". I'm not sure how I feel about that. On one hand, I get it. The use of 'suggestive sales' techniques usually results in higher sales, but I guess I just wasn't in the mood to be sold-to that night. When asked if we were celebrating a special occasion, I mentioned that it was my wife's birthday (which it was), although that didn't seem to get us anything special. Considering this was a $200 meal, I guess I was expecting maybe a complimentary cupcake with a candle on top, but ... nope. Maybe that was retribution for not upgrading to the scallops... Food: So, here is where I'd say Anthony's got the lowest marks. My Old Fashioned was definitely done properly and to-spec, so kudos for that. The food was perfectly fine and was presented in a way that suggested fine dining. But, when the star of the show is the wedge salad, that leaves me re-thinking whether I should be settling for middle-tier fine dining restaurants, or if I should have just upgraded restaurants instead. With that being said, my boss recommended the spinalis with bone marrow butter and I haven't strayed since. It is incredible! Get the bone marrow butter, it takes the steak to the next level. And thank you for the tip about the Old Fashioned, these are indeed quite good. If loud is a problem, it gets very much so even on a Tuesday at 7:30. There are too many hard surfaces for me. The wagyu tartare is out of this world! That was my main course knowing it would be rich and it was. So worth it. RRR had the chef's special of pasta with seafood in a cream sauce. Not enough sauce, too much salmon, too little shrimp, once weensy bit of lobster. For $50 plus. He loved the mussels, 5 of them, and the flavor of the sauce. We shared the sauteed mushrooms aside that was good. They definitely DO something special for a birthday but maybe it was because I turned 77 today. Anthony's makes you feel as though you are receiving a personalized experience from the start. Our waitress was amazing. Some people don't like the long drawn out menu explanations, but I, for one, LOVE them. Please, tell me about the food in detail. And she did it so well. We started off with the Lobster Bisque. It was incredible!! The steak was devine. Dare I say, the best steak I ever had. We also got the brussel sprouts - which were the best Brussels sprouts I ever had - and the horseradish whipped mashed potatoes. So good! Medium rare is what I ordered. It was the ribeye provincial- with a beautiful crusty sear in a cast iron pan. What was served was a thick sear (and that was fine) with a rare, cold interior. I asked that it be cooked a little longer- and what they brought me 15 min later was a steak that was moments away from well done- it was horrible. I had no entree . A meal for 2 for $250 should be a delightful experience I can share that the starters, and lobster bisque soup were delicious. The side dishes were also done well.
