I didn't take a picture cause it was graphic. Upstairs, a dog was whimpering constantly, and across the street a fair was taking place, which created loud noise that was not disclosed in the listing. When I checked the sheets, I found several stains. Looking closer, there were additional stains on every corner of the sheets, and I discovered a large reddish-orange stain about 8-9 inches wide. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable staying. This property is unsanitary, unsafe, and not as described in the listing. I felt dirty just being there.

My husband and I walked into the lobby to check in and everything in there felt sticky. There was also a sign that said the WHOLE Inn allowed smoking on the inside. My husband had to literally slam his body into the door to get it to open. The smoke smell was so intense I had a migraine within five minutes. The bed was a trendle bed and both my husband and I are big people, I put half my leg on the bed and it sank to the floor (don't worry I washed my clothes right after). The box spring was still covered in plastic. They judged me for reading what I was signing. The wifi came with a warning saying the page wasn't safe. There was also a cigarette in the AC unit. There was also cigarette marks on each piece of furniture and the shower had mold. I talked to my agent to cancel my stay here immediately. I had to pay for the first night which I understand from a business perspective. The second entrance to our room to grab our stuff, the owner had sprayed perfume to cover the smell. He also followed my husband into the room to beg us to stay and tried to put us in his "sister" hotel across the street. We didn't even bother. He pestered us for a while to beg us to stay but nah. I've stayed in shitty places before and I have my 2 requirements smoke free and big bed. This lied about both and I didn't trust the attendant to show us something we would like. Never stepping foot here again.

Golfers are also exceptionally well positioned near the Pebble Beach complex and its world-renowned courses, while Big Sur is close enough for a memorable day trip. They have a large variety of room types to choose from. We stayed in the Middle Longview building, which I cannot recommend. It's old and outdated with a motel style layout. The walkway outside the rooms is wooden and quite loud every time someone walked by. The room itself was clean but a little rundown. The shower is old and and the knobs don't work well. Bed was comfortable. The Asilomar site says to bring refillable water bottles, which we did, but the water bottle filling stations were hard to find. The whole time we were there, we only found one. Phoebe's Cafe was the perfect place to grab a quick breakfast each day. Excellent oatmeal and they have delicious looking assorted pastries, yougurt, fruit, and some other quick options. They also have lots of snacks, sandwiches, etc., along with beer and wine for later in the day. Bottom line, if you want an affordable option in a great location, Asilomar is a great choice. If you want a more upscale accommodation, this isn't it.
