Came here for Valentine's Day for a nice dinner, and we were not disappointed! We sat outside under the heat lamp since thats what we were able to reserve. The calamari was delicious and we were delighted with the huge portion. The macaroni and cheese is my favorite! It pairs nicely with the Brussels sprouts. I ate here a couple weeks ago and the experience was overall quite nice. The decor and lighting was nice, and since we came early it was relatively quiet. The food was pretty good - I got the pasta with the short rib sauce - the meat sauce was actually quite good - rare for many restaurants. Now the downsides - not sure what it is with the ownership group that owns Monti's as well as Starks - do these people have some kind of philosophical or religious objection to cooking meat to the temperature ordered? My guests hamburger was pretty rare - even though was ordered medium. Our experience at Starks in this regard was quite poor - i don't understand. An internal thermometer costs about 20$ on amazon. Someone is gonna get food poisoning from eating meat at these restaurants. Also - the size of the pasta was embarrassingly small. When I mean a small portion - I mean like 6-7 bites of the pasta if I had 2 pieces of the small (think like gnocchi size) per bit. For 28$. I get it - inflation, times are tough etc - but gimme a break man. 28$ for essentially an appetizer. That's not acceptable. I was close to asking the server if I could speak to the manager and asking them if they thought that was a decent portion size. To put in perspective - one package of the double package costco ravioli was a decent bit more volume than the amount of pasta on my plate. And since that is about 7$.....yea. There comes a point where we as consumers need to start pushing back about some of this stuff. No - your restaurant won't be in financial jeopardy if you give an adult sized portion for a 30$ pasta meal. Esp with 21$ glasses of wine and a liquor license. The serving staff was very nice - that was pleasant and I appreciated the way we were treated by the staff. They seem to hire well for the serving staff - our waiter at Starks was very pleasant as well. But ownership seems to really skimp in a few areas. I don't understand the logic of this. When you overcharge to the point where people feel cheated - they don't come back. So instead of coming here a couple times a month - so about 20 times a year round number - that's a few thousand dollars of revenue for your business. But instead- you want to save, what, 50 cents per serving on the pasta? Lets see - 2-3000$ per year from a repeat customer - or saved 2$ by giving a portion the equivalent to an appetizer. And you're making a killing selling alcohol. Bummer. Wish I wanted to come back because the pasta was delicious. read more

Seated promptly. Great service. Nice variety of dishes to choose from. Also many drinks on the menu, with a big list of wine. You can do half bottles as an option. Sunday night prime rib special is a treat. Served perfectly medium rare as requested. Soup of the day was great: cauliflower & green onion. The escarole & radicchio salad was great. This wasn't my first go around to Monti's and it won't be my last. My boyfriend and I had just finished a nice hike with our puppies and were in the mood for some good eats afterwards. Monti's was the perfect place for a cold evening sitting outside. Our puppies were welcomed in by the friendly staff and we were sat right under a heater, so we stayed nice and warm. We each ordered a cocktail and I have to say, mine was a 10/10. Their food is quality and very reasonably priced. We were able to sub for a different cheese on our cheeseburger as well. Everything came out fresh, warm, and tasty. There is something on the menu for everyone and plenty to try. I look forward to my next visit! read more

I have dined at Monti's many times over the years, how could I have never reviewed my experiences here?!?!? Everytime I come here, I try something different from the menu, and there are so many choices. The service has always been great, even if you end up at the bar. You must make a reservation here most days. They have many different rotisserie and smoked meats and always have a daily meat special. Being that I normally don't eat much meat, I have not tried these specials, but they look and smell delicious! Today I had to try the daily soup as it was a mushroom soup that was simply divine. I ordered a cup rather than a bowl and that was just the right size as it was so rich and beautifully seasoned. One of my faves here has always been the Ahi Tuna Tartare. The delivery today seemed a little different, the size being larger but seemed like it had more mayo in it this time. It was still delicous, and served with little toasts and lots of avocado. My lunch companion ordered the spicy shrimp, which I tasted and they were pretty good, although I normally don't like it when they leave the shrimp unpeeled. But still delicious. They have a great wine list, and many nice choices by the glass. We had the Imagery White Burgundy, which I loved. The outdoor patios are wonderful during the spring and summer. Ordered the new swordfish item. I was suprised to see that the fish was covered with a pesto sauce. ( Coming from the East coast, I am so used to having it plainly broiled or baked with butter and a lemon provided. ) Nothing against pesto but I thought that it took away from the taste of the fish. Under the salmon, there were cauliflower florets sitting in a red sauce. I know now for future reference. The restaurant was updated nicely and it appeared that soundproofing was added. read more

We are happy to see Monti's is back as we live nearby and it has long been a favorite. However, we will not be visiting nearly as often with the new prices. I understand restaurants are having a difficult time but so are patrons. Luckily I'm a good cook but, unfortunately, we will be staying home more than we used to if this is the future of dining. read more

Never have I ever sat at a wobbly table, and the wait staff offer to adjust the table, much less wedge and stabilize it. The host that sat us showed her attention to detail and needs to be commended. The ambiance was open and clean. Our server made suggestions that I'm glad I followed to include the calamari appetizer and kale and quinoa salad. The food was fresh and delicious. read more

We had dinner at Montis the other night. The new decor is beautiful, the service great and the food very good. I have 2 complaints though. 1) The limited menu needs to be expanded. We were going to order the pasta with short ribs and they were out of it. My friend doesn't care for seafood, and has had the hamburger previously and didn't want it again. She has previously had the buckwheat pasta and didn't care for it. She didn't want a pizza, so was left with the roasted chicken. I had the salmon and it was excellent. There are just not enough choices. 2) The wines by the glass are just too expensive. A 9 oz pour of the Sauvignon blanc was $21. That is just too much. read more

Love this place! Been here a bunch of times, prefer to eat out on the patio. Everything is good here. My fav main dishes I've tried are the exotic mushroom pizza, shortrib rigatoni and the roasted chermoula salmon. The place buzzes, but the single waiter trying to serve the whole dining room creates an atmosphere of scarcity - scarcity in attentiveness and service. If you like waiting to be served, this is the place for you. The food is ok, the bus boy and hostess work to as much as they can to make up for the waiter's shortcomings, but that is an unachievable goal. If you are fine "waiting," this is the place for you, otherwise find another place. The value for your restaurant dollar comes up short, if good service is part of your evaluation. Sad. read more

One of my favorite places to take friends for lunch! This time though it was with my daughter. The outdoor seating is covered and a bistro atmosphere among Montgomery Village Shopping. Monti's typically have a few choices for raw oysters but not today, still they were very good. Highly recommend calamari, and goat cheese/rosemary fries, tuna tartar was delicious. Our crime brûlée needed a little help but was super yummy. Our waitress was awesome and attentive, she encouraged us to give honest feedback as they had some new crew members. read more

Thursday August 5th, 2021 was finally dinner out with the Ladies. We had great seating out on the patio. Service was great. I ordered the Niman Ranch 2 bone Pork Shoulder Chop with Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Greens, Bacon-Onion Marmalade but I didn't get the Bacon-Onion Marmalade. Really didn't miss it because was still delicious. It was so large I took half home for another meal and it was still good. We shared our dessert of Chocolate Caramel Profiteroles (3 pcs) and substituted Vanilla ice cream (instead of Old Kentucky Bourbon Butter Pecan Ice Cream), and Deep Fried Pecans. Very good yummy ending to our dinner. Really can't go wrong dining at Monti's. read more

We had an amazing late lunch here today. The crab brandade was delicious and full of big pieces of crab. The shrimp skillet was amazing as well. We shared these as well as a mushroom flatbread (we ate it so fast I forgot to take a pic). The service here is always impeccable and they have an extensive menu of yummy cocktails. We went on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and enjoyed sitting outside listening to live piano playing softly through the speakers. Our server was Shane and he did a great job. I ordered the warm spinach salad and the truffle fries. My salad was so yummy. The medjool dates, bacon, baby shrimp, goat cheese and candied pecans were perfect complements of each other. I don't remember what the dressing was, but it perfectly accented all the salad ingredients without overpowering the greens. The truffle fries were on point! Crispy outside with savory garlic and truffle oil and perfectly tender inside. The accompanying aioli was superb, I could eat these daily. This place is VERY overpriced, which shouldn't have surprised us, as it is one in the cluster of eateries owned by the same people who own Grossman's, a faux NY deli born and bred New Yorkers would avoid. The food and drink are nothing special (again, no surprise): $26 for a "Cadillac" margarita that can best be described as "meh." Adding insult to boredom: $21 for a pile of chopped kale, a couple of shreds of chicken, and a smattering of quinoa in a bland "lime" vinaigrette. $18 for a "Monte Cristo" -- translation: grilled ham and cheese sandwich on white bread (think Wonder) that comes with a side of ....nothing. Not even the requisite ingredients of the basic Monte Cristo. It is a fake like the count it is named after. To top it all off, and the reason for this review: the server was a condescending snob with a bitchy attitude. Had the server been kind, we wouldn't have bothered, just would not have returned. But he was the ultimate insult in a dining experience that left us feeling pick pocketed. read more

We were in the area and I said to Yan, "I'm in the mood for a massive pork chop and chutney applesauce." I had made a reservation for 2pm but we arrived at 12:45 and they seated us without a frown. Yan had the shrimp roasted appetizer which was enough for her and I had the pork chop. Again the bread and butter was perfect and they weren't skimpy about seconds. Service poor, had to ask for certain things three times. The person that brought our food gave us the wrong plates. When we mentioned it she shrugged and said well that's what I was told. Food was mediocre. Way too expensive $10 for rosemary- blue cheese fries which tasted neither rosemary nor blue cheese.
