This place does not get better with time and that's a fact. We came here as a party of 6. The first thing we noticed was that the lighting in the restaurant was so dim that we couldn't read the menu without using the flashlight on our phones. My husband got chicken parmesan and barely even touched the chicken. He said the chicken was extremely dry, so dry that it was inedible. There was no marinara sauce on the chicken, and the pasta was barely ok. My Garlic Gold pizza was super greasy, the dough was not good, and overall it was very bland. Love the ambiance and the service! We come here with family ammonia get here early it's quiet and they never rush service!! We wish the food was better quality. We ordered pepperoni pizza for my grandson and it was served with a pool of grease on top. I had a piece and got sick and so did he. The next time we went I forgot and ordered my grandsons go to pepperoni pizza and again it was swimming in grease! I had the Nashville Chicken sandwich. It had a lot of chicken and cole slaw. It was very tasty and had a little bite. Loved it. My mother had the raviolis she was very happy. We both had enough to save for dinner. The acoustics in the room weren't very good so it was a bit loud making it difficult to have a conversation because my mom is hard of hearing. This is my first time and I can't believe that I've missed this delicious spot for so long! My friend and I went and got pedicures close by; she had suggested we try it. Some of the best bruschetta I've had in the North Bay; the salad was it fresh, crisp and delicious. I never did find out how good the burger was because she wouldn't stop chewing long enough to tell me. But I guess that says something. I had a really sweet woman manager who helped me with just simply adding Ranch dressing to my DoorDash order. I was online looking for 'sauces' to add, but Ranch is under 'Appetizers'. I would have never thought to look there. So I called and offered to pay for the dressing, but she was kind enough to deliver Ranch dressing to me with the order. The restaurant feels cold, both in atmosphere and hospitality, with little warmth, few smiles, and minimal genuine care for customers. The food, unfortunately, has never been great, and consistency has always been an issue. Even basics like draft beer are rarely served ice cold, which speaks to a lack of attention to fundamentals. My advice to the owners is simple and sincere: consider bringing in new life and leadership - people who truly care about the customer experience and cooks who take pride in what they put on the plate. Sonoma County diners have high expectations, and they're not unreasonable. I'm not trying to hurt your business. Delicious carrot cake, chocolate mousse cake and cheese cake. The meatballs and certain pizzas are quite good too. Everything about this place is great! Had dinner with my wife last Saturday, and what a treat. Not only was the bartender awesome, our server was wonderful as well! We shared the Baked Brie with roasted garlic, did not disappoint! The bread sticks I could eat all day with butter until my heart gives out. She had the Chicken Parmesan, outstanding! I have never received worse service!! I work for a senior living community and we go to different restaurants around Santa Rosa. The residents really look forward to getting out and trying new restaurants. We had a request to try the Union Hotel, so I gathered 10 other people to head over there. Prior to arriving, we set a reservation for 10 people (although I did not expect it to be too busy in the middle of the week). When we arrived they were not ready for us, so we waited- which was fine. As we were being shown to our table, a lady came up to me and said "Next time you need to book a reservation" and I explained to her that we did, she then argued with me that the reservation was set only for 8 people and this was an inconvenience. Not a great first impression. We were all sat down for about 15 minutes without even a server coming to acknowledge us or bring us waters. I got up and asked to speak to a manager. A man came out from the back and just stood in front of me without saying anything. I asked if he was the manager and he laughed and said "sometimes." So I explained that we had not been greeted yet and that the gal who approached me was not very nice. I was hoping he could help me turn this experience around for my residents, but he was not helpful at all. I explained to him that we go out to lunch often and although it says "no separate checks" on the menu, restaurants usually are very accommodating as I am with a group of elderly folks. This man said "we usually don't do that but we'll see and there's a large party in the back where your server is". And that was it- never saw him again. I went back to the table and the server, Esther, who had finally arrived, was explaining there are no separate checks and I told her that I had just spoken to the manager about it and for her to please do the same to work it out. She said "I don't make the rules, what can I get you?" So she took her orders and eventually brought us water and a pitcher. 15 more minutes later we got our bread sticks, and eventually our food. The food was great and that I will give credit for, but it was like Esther couldn't wait to slap down the ONE check right in front of me at the end of the meal. Super disappointed in our experience. Will never ever be back here or recommend it to anyone. My residents and I felt like we were not wanted and only a burden and they did not deserve to feel that way. Shame on you. read more

Sliders were dull, boring, served cold. Had to ask for mustard. The chicken sandwich nothing special. Fries cold Bread sticks, hot and good. But; we had to ask for olive oil. What got under our skins in the beginning was; no separate checks. Then at the end (without telling us) there was a 20% gratuity added to our check. Not likely to return. read more

They have a good deal on pizza to go on Tuesdays X large two toppings for $25. It's not as good of a deal as say Costco pizza large for $9.99... but it is a huge pizza and has a lot of good flavor going on. We usually get the ham and pineapple and it is really delicious. They also have deals for bar food during football. On Sunday, Monday and Thursday. They have a small order of spaghetti with meat sauce for $6 and you can add meatballs for $1 each. I'll preface this by saying my last experience with Union Hotel more than 10 years ago was... unpleasant. This time around wasn't exactly bad, but given the caliber of Italian restaurants around town, I'd just call this place very, "whelming." I had the beef stew with polenta. It was pretty flavorful to be honest, *especially* if you *really* like the taste of red wine. But the meat and veggies were still pretty chewy and firm respectively for a stew. The combination pizza we shared was piled high with fresh veggies that stayed crisp on a nice crust with a notably sweet tomato sauce. And the garden salad we had was good; the beans on it were surprisingly tasty. So objectively, the meal we had was perfectly fine. But that's the problem, it was just fine. Nothing really stands out or is unique from what we had. Santa Rosa has some of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to, with some of them being the best restaurants I've ever been to, full stop. I decided to take my cousin there for lunch. We went to the front desk and said table for two. The man just stared at us without saying anything. We are not asking table for two at the White House! We sat there for ten minutes. He showed us our table. A few minutes later he walked by and threw the special of the day on the table and kept walking. We were hoping he was anything near management. We waited 30 minutes to place an order. The waitress was nice and efficient. We left right past the man with the white hair and he said nothing like thank you for coming or have a good day. The last couple months we had great dinner and lunch with our neighbors and were impressed with quality food and heart warming service. Hence, we thought it would be safe to bring our guests from overseas there on June 15th after touring around the Bay Area. We were party of seven and had ordered various entrees and appetizers out of which double orders on prime rib and New York steak. Prime rib came out good, but the New York steak were way over cooked. Others ordered pasta and the sauce was watery. The most bothering part was the server's attitude. After we got to the table, it took a long while to bring a stack of glasses with a jar of water without serving and not asking if we need to order other drinks. The way she served the dishes were by sudden sliding in between the guests and POUNDING onto the table Every Time. All Italian restaurants we have been to wouldn't ask to pay for extra breadsticks after first serving. We were told we have to pay for $3 for extra 3 pcs of bread sticks. It's only a trivial 1% out of $385 we spent there and we just paid for it. Understand it's the standard across the board to precharge 20% gratuity for a big party. However, it doesn't reflect the service that it's delivered. Not only I apologized to our guests for my poor pick, I also feel sorry for an extreme negative representation of our home town Santa Rosa. read more
