The service is exceptional. First of all I researched a few places but came back to the original estimate and support by their arborist, Desta Mehrer. She was professional, customer driven, and very friendly. The quote was exceptionally reasonable over 5 trees removed and shrubs on both sides of my back yard. The price was right so we decided to try them. They came on the date they stated even though it was raining in the morning. But they came after a break in the rain. The crew and foreman Salvador were exceptional! I was very happy with their quick work but safety was used at all times. They explained everything through the process, which was appreciated. Also the tree stump removal was going to be in another day. But they managed to get the tech and his tree stump remover out the same day. I have to say I was very impressed and so was my wife with their service, experience, safety measures, and precision in work. Having power lines near the trees we stressed safety and so did the crew. 1. Price was good. I had two trees and many tree stumps removed. I got three estimates. Start with two and the difference is quite a lot, so I got another one. 2. Whole process was smooth. Had to call them a few times to schedule tree trimming and stump grinding. Got written estimate (free) - Sign and send back to them - tree trimming - Stump ground on separate day - got invoice - Send money. 3. They forgot to leave wood chips during tree trimming, so I call them. Due to miscommunication, field workers forgot to leave them. I do not like hassle, so I decided to send the check. I got lots of wood chips after they received the check. Surprised (a little bit impressed) since other contractors (house repair, cleaning...) usually did not respond after they took money out of my bank account. 4. This may be my first Yelp review, but I was SO delighted with Montoya Tree Service that I had to let everyone know. We had some dead trees in our backyard and were ordered by our village to remove them. While I was gathering estimates, the wind blew a particularly large dead tree crashing through our fence and into our neighbor's yard. Montoya not only provided the most specific and professional estimate, but also a very reasonably-priced one. They showed up exactly on time and got right to work. Within a couple of hours, the huge dead trees were history! The workers were friendly, professional and thorough. They cleaned up the yard when they were done so well, no one would ever have known what had transpired there only hours before. We had Montoya provide a quote late 2019, but had decided to go with a different company. By our mistake - we paid Montoya $600 instead of the company that we had went with - bad husband/wife communication! I called Montoya back in December to explain what had happened, they acknowledged that they had deposited the check, but would be sending the money back to us...However, I am still trying to track this down from them 6 months later. We never received a check as promised, and they won't answer calls that come in from my number or return my calls on the rare occurrence that they answer - very clearly avoiding us in an attempt to keep the money. Montoya tree service removed 2 huge Ash trees from my yard. One was very difficult to remove because it was so close to my house. They sent 2 crews so the trees could be taken down in a day. They ground the stumps and put the wood chips around my bushes. Ralph also trimmed a big Norway Maple so more sun could get under it and grass should be able to grow now. Although a gutter was slightly dented, Javier sent someone to replace the gutter. They removed the many logs and finished the job in two days. It was a very difficult job, but they were reasonable, responsible, had good insurance, and very professional. I highly recommend this company. read more

Great service. Professional all the way, from Ralph coming out to prepare an estimate to the final pile of sawdust being swept up from our driveway. My trees have NEVER looked this good after a trimming. One thing on my list was to remove a huge dead tree -- it was adjacent to my fence and other large bushes. They managed to "slice" it off in sections from the top. No damage whatsoever to fence and other plantings. These guys are good! I couldn't believe what they accomplished in one morning. Montoya delivered wood chips for free. Arrangement was a breeze and delivery was on time with a call in advance, as promised. The dump spot was difficult to get to and he had to maneuver carefully and also be wary of utility wires. I know it took longer than he expected, but the delivery was made both carefully and patiently. Also, I got the amount I wanted rather than a whole truckload. read more

Have a pine with problems, wife wanted to keep it, it blocks looking at the garage. Called Montoya, sent a arborist who told us it can be save just has tip blight. Came 10/6/15 and cut all dead and diseased wood. Cleaned up and you would not have know anyone cut all the wood and it was all over the place. Montoya Tree Service has provided quality service for my two ash trees for the past 12 years. They come out yearly to trim or do the preventive injections and fertilize. For the first time I had them trim ALL my hedges and shrubs . They did a marvelous job and the price point was more than fair. Great service. One call and they came out with an estimate that was appreciably lower than others. Removed 2 trees and ground stumps in one day despite bad weather. Worked well with my schedule, and always easy to reach by phone. It did take an extra phone call to get logs removed from yard, but they were very accommodating and responsive.
