There are better burgers and burgers that aren't as good as this place. I am gonna say this place is average at best but still tasty. The staff was friendly and attentive. Very knowledgeable of the menu and very willing to offer good suggestions of their favorites. I wandered in by myself last week for dinner. I had grabbed one of the booths along the wall behind the host stand. I tried the Greek, the lamb burger with pickled cucumber and grilled eggplant (A nice touch) and tomato and olive tapenade all held together on a bun. It was great with the tzatziki oozing all over the place. The lamb needed to be seasoned a little better. I also got the sweet potato fries which were served in a little fryer basket (Kitch factor) and with a side of maple syrup. Moo Burger is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood. Great burger, not too fussy and cooked perfectly. The fries need to be crispy and hot, not warm and chewy. Maybe we just got the end of the batch, but they didn't match the quality of the burger. And should a pint of beer really cost $7? We had great service, even if our kooky waitress described the portion of the fries as, "They're not as big as a medium size at McDonald's, but bigger than a small, you know?" -A line I'm sure she learned during employee training. Definitely a great space, effort, and the best burger in the hood! I hope it helps dim the lights at 5 Guys down the block! I remember there being lots of wood in this place. Wood floors, tables, booths...walls I think? But what really is memorable is the Greek burger. I've never been one to like burgers or fries but thanks to Moo Burger I've been converted! All organic ingredients, a brioche bun and the juiciest burgers around. I never feel guilty after eating here, even after inhaling a basket of crispy zucchini or sweet potato fries along with my meal. (Bonus: the zucchini fries come with a creamy yogurt cucumber sauce and the sweet potato ones hot maple syrup!!) Also, kudos to the super chill interior and friendly waitstaff. Gave it 4 stars b/c of the service - the ONE waitress working had to tend to multiple tables at a time so I'd understand if she couldn't get to us. But I saw 4 guys just hanging around the register and fooling around. They definitely could have helped the poor girl. She had a great smile and personality. I would give the food 5 stars though. So as a precaution, I ate here after a 7 mile run and eating Paleo for 6 days in a row. With that being said, I got the Hangover burger or whatever it's called (the one with the bison) and I was disappointed. I mean it was a dry ass burger that lacked juice and appeal. Moo Burger is just a straight-forward good burger. The burgers are well cooked, juicy but not greasy and well seasoned. The fries and very well done. The onion rings taste like a beer batter - a pleasant surprise, though they could use a dash of salt coming out of the fryer. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. The only reason Moo does't get a fourth star is for the speed (or lack there of) of food coming out of the kitchen. On average it takes upwards of 25 minutes to get a pair of burgers out, regardless of how full the dining room is. Overall, this is a good place for a relaxed meal, uncomplicated and tasty. Maybe the anticipation was too high ( I walk past this place every day on my commute and have been anxiously awaiting their grand opening) but our visit to moo burger was anticlimactic. I wasn't asked how I wanted my burger cooked, and the bison was very overcooked for my liking. It was one of these situations where I thought maybe I am supposed to leave it up to the chef, since this is a chef run burger joint, but I enjoy my meat on the medium rare side. The fries were tiny but I should have known that based on how cheap they were. The staff was attentive but I didn't complain because I was tired and starving after a hike. They were also out of elk and ostrich but I am sure that is just part of the newness and it was past typical dinner time on a Saturday. I think it's cute that the staff wears plaid shirts and enjoyed the 90s rock music. The decor is nice and laid back, the place did not feel pretentious at all. I stopped by Moo Burger last weekend while in town for Governor's Ball. My boyfriend and I were staying with friends in Brooklyn and my bf did a quick Yelp search for a good burger spot close by. He led me to this cute burger place that had wooden benches and wooden walls. The place seemed very cozy. The waitress sat us and handed us our menus. She wasn't mean but she wasn't the friendliest server either. She was just okay, did her job but gave no extra enthusiasm or energy. I ordered the Brooklyn Chili Burger with a side of fried mac and cheese. My bf ordered The Hangover burger with baked beans as his side. Both burgers were very tasty and cooked really well. We asked for medium and they were both spot on. The fried mac and cheese is yummy and it comes with a spicy sauce on the plate, but in all fairness the waitress did ask me if I wanted that sauce on the side. No surprises there. We also tried their natural sodas from GUS. We tried the orange and the cola flavors. It's a nice way to satisfy that carbonated drink craving without having to actually drink a Coke and 30lbs of sugar along with it. I would recommend this place if you're in the mood for an interesting and delicious burger. They had several options with al different kinds of toppings and combinations. Burger was cold, chili dogs were room temperature and no ketchup was provided. Also - did not answer their phones. When we were calling about our late order, it never answered until 6th call. Oh I wanted to love this place and though the service was great and the space was lovely, I just did not love their burger. And based on the name, it should be all about the Moo right? So I ordered a bison burger with moo sauce and a fried egg on top. Yeah I did it, I negated my "healthy bison" with some yummy egg yolk and creamy sauce. I would do it again and throw bacon into the mix with some extra cheese as well! #noshame Okay, so the bison was dry...but I haven't had bison before so maybe that's just how it is? But it was also bland and I don't care what kind of animal you think you are, but goshdarnit you have the capacity for flavor when seasoned right! The fried egg was cooked a tinge overdone as well (I always feel a bit jipped when not enough of the yellow yolk comes pouring out over everything.) The moo sauce was really stingy too. It sounded great...blue cheese and chipotle and other yummy stuff but I just couldn't taste enough of it to have it make an impact on this dish. Such potential for my burger, maybe my expectations were too high :( What they did get really right tho was the sweet potato fries! If this place was called Spud then it would have gotten an extra star just for these. They came with this maple syrup goodness and were salted just perfectly. Great sweet and savory treat in my book! Delicious! Simply scrumptious! That is how I would describe my dining experience at Moo Burger! I ate dinner there today with a couple of friends and I must say that I was very pleased! I wasn't really in the mood to eat a burger today because I coincidentally happened to have eaten two burgers the day before. But I was hungry and the reviews were good, so I wasn't going to complain. Having said that, there wasn't any reason to complain. Far from it. I ordered the All American burger, and I added my own spin to it. I ordered the avocado and fried egg topping, along with American cheese. The burger looked amazing when it came out! It looked so good that even the manager/owner came up to me and told me that he would probably eat that same concoction later! And it was just as unbelievable as it looked! In addition, I ordered the fried mac and cheese balls, and they were also tasty. The decor was very nice and woody, and the service was friendly. Even the neighborhood was awesome, and I enjoyed walking around the area afterwards. What a spectacular evening dining out! Can't wait for my next Moo Burger! I ordered the hot dogs and my boyfriend got some sort of bison hamburger with delicious bleu cheese and mushrooms. Both were exceptional! Though, I definitely favor the burger over the hot dog. For some reason the hot dog had an ever so slight chewy consistency. We also ordered a side of sweet potato fries and a bottle of organic root beer soda and we were set! Good burgers. Okay fries. Fantastic mac and cheese, onion rings, and zucchini fries. Service is friendly and not lacking for a burger place. Why three stars? Because the price to size/quality ratio is off. The patties are fairly small. But I'm actually not advocating for bigger patties, since they're the perfect size for finishing the whole burger while not feeling gross afterwards. I'm advocating for slightly lower prices to match the size of what you get. As far as quality, the food is good but not mindblowing. Both burgers I've had there have been on the dry side, and yes, I ordered it medium, but there was no juice to be had at all. Blue Marble chocolate milkshake was good, but nothing so special that it should cost $7 (Blue Marble, you're another story.... another over-priced, over-hyped story, but I'll get to you in a separate review.) You might be getting the impression that I'm a cheapskate, but au contraire, I am totally willing to pay good money for good food. Dubuque was that, and perhaps that's why they are no longer. The second most expensive burger I've had in years. Wasn't impressed. I would try another burger from their eclectic menu but I don't think the outcome will be any different. With so many restaurants in the immediate area it'll be a while before I try one again. Onion rings came out great though. And beware of their horrible bottled sodas. Zucchini fries, zucchini fries, zucchini fries. Need I say more? I suppose I should. Beau and I sat down at Mooburger and pored over the menu. I wasn't going to be ordering any burgers that had previously moo-ed, so I appreciated that the menu had more than just a veggie burger for me. Grilled vegetables, veggie burgers, grilled cheese, I love having options at a burger place! I got the grilled vegetable sandwich (piled high with veggies, pesto, and some swiss), and he got the buffalo chicken sandwich. Oh, and we split zucchini fries, duh. To those reviews speaking about the presentation of the food, the big trays are a little silly when one orders a burger alone, but the food more than made up for it. Cooked to perfection, and the buns were great (not too big, not too small). And those dang zucchini fries, so. freaking. good. A little generous on the breading, but oh so crispy on the outside and nicely cooked on the inside. I'm considering just getting a triple order of those next time. This would be a five star review but for two things: one, it was a bit pricey for two burgers and a side of fries. I understand the fresh/local/organic ingredient price hike, but that doesn't mean I have to like shelling out $30 for lunch. Also, service was a bit slow. They had just opened so I'm sure they had to heat up the grill and whatnot, but on a hot, sticky day, I need my water refills more often than they came. My friend and I shared the fried pickles and the sweet potato fries (which come with hot maple syrup! what?! yum!). The fried pickles are a little bit too heavily breaded, and they are literally whole cornichon pickles! The pieces are too large and the boiling-hot-pickle-juice-to-batter-ratio was way off. I think fried pickles work a lot better when they are sliced into chips, and fried with lighter, more tempura-like batter. "Moooo"...Burger....such a cute name, it already snagged my attention with that alone. Once walking in, I immediately loved the decor. It screamed trendy, open, inviting, family oriented, welcome., and it totally represents Brooklyn. I only got takeout, but I know for a fact that I am coming back here and bringing my boyfriend with me. I know he would enjoy it. I went during an in between lunch and dinner time on a Sunday, so it wasn't crowded. On weekends during those meal times, it might be rowdy and crowded, not with a drunk crowd, but with kids, so beware of that. Having said that, my order came out quickly. I got two burgers, a sandwich, a chili dog, fries, onion rings, and coleslaw, and it only took between 10 minutes, maybe 15, if I somehow zoned out and the time flew by. I was surprised really and awkwardly accepted the bag the girl gave me Lol. The staff don't wear uniforms of any sort, not even matching black tee's, so you might not know who works there and who doesn't. But the staff appears friendly enough. Maybe not all smiles and giggles, like some weird Stepford Wives like establishments in other parts of the city, but personable, and most of all, they assist you. It's very much like a large loft like space. Kitchen in the back, but it's open and not covered or hidden, so you can see the workers moving efficiently to make your meal. Shiny and buffed wooden furniture, whether regular tables for 2 or 4 people/families to the far left or small booths in the very back. My favorite were the large wooden picnic like tables, good for communal dining or large groups. It adds to that friendly, "let's all enjoy your food together" vibe. On the tables are large beer glass cups, used for water. And I spied glass wine like bottles on the table, so you can always refill your own glass more or less. Much appreciated, because I always guzzle water, and this salty, greasy, hearty food, you're going to need the hydration. Here's the rundown on the food itself: Southern fried chicken sandwich with collard greens and Creole sausage gravy- A very, VERY deep fried breaded chicken patty, and I wasn't expecting that level of fried-ness. Collard greens didn't add any extra flavor, nor did the gravy, so it felt like a fried chicken sandwich on a bun/roll. All-American burger- The burgers aren't diner sized huge, but they're hearty as hell. My boyfriend loved it and plans to come back and try more burgers. It's a classic and simple, and tasty, perfectly good (medium rare), and I enjoyed 100%. Chili Dog- for nine bucks you get two regular sized hot dogs on a potato bun, which is so much better than a regular bun. I love the presentation and the amount of chili they give you. I had a chili dog in the city, and the chili was mushy watery slop and not only that, they were stingy with the amount. And a drizzle of sour cream gives it an elegant touch. The chili is salty by nature, as is the hot dog, but I don't like chili to have any spice or heat, and I don't know, it just didn't hit the spot for me personally, even though I was super excited to try this. I might be better off making it myself at home, and that's totally cool. The burgers are the main show here. French fries- Thin cut, with the skin still on it. Don't always see that and some pieces were crunchy, other pieces were soft with grease. To some, that might be bad and considered mushy, but I love the soft potato-y pieces. Onion rings- Large, but they don't give you a lot, like maybe 5 pieces. And heavily battered, with an excellent crunch, but the only bad thing is that the batter has ZERO flavor. If it had some hint of...anything, garlic or herbs or even beer batter, it would add the extra oomph that it needs. End note: I absolutely cannot wait to come back and try the Moo burger, maybe with an egg on top as an add on. And then the fried pickles, and a milkshake. Damn, I'm drooling already.
