Not once but twice have I spoken over the phone for a consultation with Arborist Nick Mook. Both times my trees were in dire condition and had to be removed. In additional to telling me that my trees were dead or diseased beyond recovery, he told me what to do to avoid the most recent situation with disease in my young Redbud tree. I appreciated his expertise, candor and quick evaluation so I was able to remedy the situation almost as soon as he told me what to do. Nick Mook is an expert and guided me in the right direction on the two occasions. Sadly my trees had to be removed but I learned a few things in the process. My husband called Nick with some questions about a Chinese Flame Maple tree that we have. He was referred by a neighbor who used his services and was very satisfied. There is sap oozing from a few places on the trunk. Nick confirmed that the tree had a pest called the Polyphagous Shot Hole Borer and told us what to do to prevent damage and further attacks to the tree. He provided all this information over the phone, after looking at a couple of photos we texted to him. I dont know where to start. I have three tall trees in my front yard. They are over 30 years old and they shade my house. They were suffering with the drought conditions,turning brown and no matter what I did, they looked like they were dead. I called a certified arborist to come out and tell me what the problem was. This other company came out and told me that my trees had a disease from some bug and also needed vitamins. They charged me $1,600 to medicate the trees and to give them some nutrients. I was so desperate that I went for it. Nothing happened.I was so frustrated and felt I had been deceived. I called Nick Mook. He came out and told me my trees were suffering from the heat and the salt and chemicals in the city water. He was 100% correct! He put Gypsum into the soil around them and he told me to water them on a certain schedule. That spring, my trees came back...turning green again. I was amazed and so happy to have been able to save them. I went back to the original company and got my money back. Nick also taught me how to apply the gypsum and vitamins so I could do some of the work myself. Since that time, I have called on Mook's for advice on my trees and other issues. They are quick to respond and always give me the correct information and the best service. It is obvious that Mr. Mook loves what he does and is passionate about his job. I also feel that I get reliable expert service at a reasonable price. I know I can trust the advice and that I dont be wasting my money. Our gardening fanatic neighbor introduced us to Nick about 6 years ago. We knew he'd be good because she's such a stickler about her trees, but he is above and beyond what we expected.
