If this is the best pizza in Sedona, then I feel bad for Sedona. It was very basic, I nothing really special. The ingredients tasted cheap. When ordering, I was charged more than the menu stated for my pizza. I mentioned that the price was not correct and someone in the back yelled out. "Tell him about our sales tax". I know about tax, i was referring to the sub total price, which is pretax. I decided not to try to argue, but tax was then added to my subtotal. After waiting a fairly long time, I hear someone from the kitchen say my name, but it was so low, I assumed maybe they just saw my order and were communicating something to another worker. After a few more minutes my name was called again, but this time they were more frustrated. I don't know why they didn't just walk to the front counter and call out an order for my name. Flavors and ingredients that are out of this world! I was pleasantly surprised by the tasty pizza served up at Moondog's. While in town for a one-night visit, I opted to try something truly local. I'd seen Moondog's from the road before, and it's a name that certainly pops out. With some prompting by the reviews, I figured I would give them a try. I opted for a takeout pizza, and figured I would go watch TV while I wait. The parking lot in the front of the restaurant is a tad tight, but I was able to find a space to hang out and place my order from the car. The guys answering the phone are a little rough around the edges, but charming in their own way. Going inside, there are a decent number of tables and big enough for a few modest-sized parties. It feels like a dive bar, but plenty safe and family-friendly. They even allow dogs inside. I ordered the Moon Dogs Classic. Great decision. The ingredients and sauce were quite good. It was the kind of pizza where you burn your mouth and keep on going because you can't seem to help yourself! While Sedona has a plethora of fancy fare, be sure to check-out the diamonds in the rough that really shine and deliver some dynamite food. read more

Visiting from out of town, Moon Dog's was on my list of places to visit. Herman was amazing, friendly, pizza was pretty amazing, I only wish had a tiny bit more sauce as I like my pizza saucy, but toppings tasted fresh, not sure if it was pepperoni or sausage but had a nice slight smokiness to it and crust was perfect to how I like it. Other than that all workers were amazing and it was a great meal after a 4 Hike to Soldier Pass. Would recommend for Herman's vibe and this Sausage, Pepperoni, and Mushroom pizza alone! He seemed to remember locals and was friendly with all guests. Wings were decent my friend ordered extra hot which isn't my jam but still tried and they were standard Pizza Shop Buffalo Wings. Garlic bread seemed to have a bit of a burnt crust, but I didn't have any so can't accurately rate. Definitely would try while you're in town after a nice hike! Throughly yummy pizza! We picked up a half n half 12" after traveling and just needing a quiet night in. Delicious! It didn't take long and the flavors were on point. I had plenty of veggies on my portion which was appreciated! The crust was also very flavorful. Only thing to improve on is their phones weren't working so we had to go physically to the restaurant, order and wait. The owner said the phones had been 'acting up', but that was in several other reviews. It might be something to consider. I'd go back though as was delicious and hot the spot! read more

Where do I start? We ordered a pizza...pepperoni, bacon and artichoke hearts. Well, the pizza was extremely salty. Virtually no sauce. The artichoke, we think, was the skinny strips of something green/yellow color, which resembled maybe the outside skin of the artichoke leaves and not the heart? The bacon pieces were burnt. Very little toppings. The crust was hard, tough, and had no flavor. We had it delivered. Service is beyond what I expected at an "order at the counter" experience as our service ware was delivered to our table and we were then left alone to eat our fill. The inside of the restaurant is a bit confusing; a set apart room is shared with a 'Sedona area adventure' business- or so it appears. I was honestly impressed that when I was calling in an order, the family-run business was up-front about upgrading their oven and gave me a timeframe that was several hours out... But literally everything else makes me wish I didn't have to give them any stars at all. for starters they charged us for delivery even though the website says it is free. they ran out of 2 liters and just gave us cans but not enough cans to equal 2 liters. the wings were overcooked and dry you couldn't even take a good bite. our "deal" came with garlic bread that was a small thin burnt piece of bread. The pizza looked great but didn't taste good, it didn't really taste like anything at all. The only thing that had flavor was the black olives.
