My other reviews about Nicole's talent and awesome personality hold up- she's so good at curly haircuts. Price is well worth the service! The new location is in a kind of a market of stylists and the niche room for Mop recreates the South End vibe quite well. Nicole has her drinks fridge, magazines and photo books, super fancy dryer, and excellent products, so nothing has changed. There is a kind of overall waiting area at the salon building with 2 chairs, but Nicole is punctual, so you won't be waiting there long. There are also general use bathrooms for the salon building that are nothing to write home about and not something Nicole can really influence anyway. I'm sensitive to smell/aerosol products and because it is a building of salon rooms, it is INTENSE in the hall/general waiting area. I wore a mask, which helped a lot, so if you have asthma or bad allergies I recommend bringing one along just in case. Of course, Nicole has some on hand because she remains awesome about COVID precautions and generally creating a safe and welcoming space. I believe customers deserve a professional, organized, and transparent appointment system. Double-booking clients and inconsistent communication create frustration and inconvenience for customers. I hope the salon will improve its scheduling procedures and customer service to prevent similar issues in the future. Without the text, which I'm happy to have anyone go through my phone, I also didn't receive any call that I was running late. I'm always punctual, I always call if I'm even 2 minutes behind. If they had called 5-10 after my appointment, I would have hopped in the car and made it there. Instead, I was charged automatically 25 minutes in while simultaneously getting a you missed an appointment email. The reception claimed the email was the reaching out yet I was Charged that very minute. I'm a loyal customer. I really would appreciate the refund so I can actually get my hair done. I think it's poor service for a receptionist yesterday to tell me to call back this morning and th manger in Norwood to really not care and say she can't do a thing about it. Which is untrue because when my hairs been messed up before by a new stylist , I've been given a redo for free as I looked a tiger one time. I went into Shear Illusions for a blow dry…read more To preface; I have my hair blowdryed EVERY WEEK due to 22" hair extensions, I'm quite familiar with the process and what needs to be done for an EFFECTIVE BLOW DRY. WHAT WAS DONE AT SHEAR ILLUSIONS WAS A DRY AT BEST, ALONG WITH A STYLE, WHICH I COULD HAVE DONE AT HOME. (i.e. hair blowdryed and then curled with a get this, HOT TOOLS product. You know the one that's like $30 at Sally Beauty Supply.) My hair was washed and conditioned. It was NOT given any sort of product prior to her drying my hair. It was NOT sectioned by clips. It was NOT dried in sections. It was NOT brushed by a round brush. It was NOT targeted with a blow dryer because the blow dryer did NOT have a nozzle! It was NOT styled correctly or smoothed over. It WAS dried laying flat by being hit wait hot air which caused frizz, and kinks at the crown, hair line and by my ears. I'm heading home right now infuriated because literally what she did, I could have done myself at home and not charged $36 to do and it still needs hairspray, teasing, and body at the root. If you want an amateur hair dresser who claims 18 years experience, go right ahead. Absolutely waste of time, so disappointed.

I went yesterday for the first time to get my hair done by Shelagh and I can honestly say I found a Hair Stylist I can finally trust and finally enjoy getting my hair done! I had dead, damaged blonde hair that had three different tones in it...Her and Karen were friendly in their approach and they took their time to explain what I should do and what they think would look best. I wanted to cut off about 4-5 inches and I wanted a Honey Golden Blonde & that is exactly what I got!!!! I usually leave the hair salon crying... but finally I left with a big smile. I'm super pleased and happy about Shear Illusions, not ONE single complaint.
