I took my truck here for a repair on my twin turbo, through a recommendation of a co worker about a year and a half ago. The mechanics at moon valley auto care were able to have it repaired within 2 days when the dealership couldn't even assess what was wrong for 2 weeks to give me a cost/time estimate (I already knew and could point to what was wrong!). I have since been back for regular maintenance and if anything random to comes up. Each time Dawn has been great and very thorough when going over options. I have been happy with the service and value they provide. I also appreciate that she checks in via text around my oil change time so I can get scheduled and stay on routine with services. My wife has started to take her suv there also and has been pleased each visit with the service. We would and do recommend them to friends and family . read more

Most of the time yelp reviews are just reviews but this one is personal. I love my 2008 Honda Element. 175,000 miles and it will go to 250,000 for sure. I'm keeping it! I had some deferred maintenance and then suspension problems along with motor mounts, steering, and other related things that just piled up. We planned a good time when they weren't too busy, and Dawn gave me a detailed, thoughtful, and accurate estimate. It needed over $3000 in repairs and I'd done enough research to know that was about as good as it would get. The Honda dealership up the road quoted me $1000 more - and they said it would be in the shop 4-5 days. Fixing it all required several part day visits (at my request) that allowed me to continue to function. We had to plan to consider part availability & supply chain issues. It worked out very well. They were on top of it every step of the way. When it comes to car repairs, we've all been conditioned to be mistrustful, and it just felt great knowing that I didn't have to worry about that. There's a good reason why MVA has been around forever. They are exceptional. They want to get it right and they want you to be happy at the end of it all. read more

I went in for an oil change and they called me an hour later and said I had bad oil leaks and needed valve cover gaskets new radiator hoses and a cabin air filter because it missing. They charged me for new filter in October so they never installed one in October. My driveway has no signs of any oil leaks. read more

Dawn is a psycho path and suffers from undiagnosed bi-polar disorder. Every unpleasant review has four things in common D-A-W-N! She's rude, disrespectful, unprofessional and flat out winch. Dawn, put OES parts on my vehicle and sold them as OME parts. She charged close to $300 more for the same parts that Mercedes Benz does and Mercedes only sells OEM. Dawn ran a unauthorized $140 diagnostics charge. Then itemized the charge and refused to apply it towards repairs. Which is what a legitimate business does. She did not tell the mechanic that the part was in the driver seat pocket. After two days, hearing her annoying voice, I had enough. Everything she invoiced, I went to both Mercedes Benz dealerships that had serviced my vehicle and reached out to my German Mechanic certified in Mercedes repairs. He was appalled at the treatment as well. Giving Mom & Pop shops a try you don't always have to get Mom/Pop service. The only reason I tried Ms. Dawn was that she was referred. But in this case I got less than Mom/Pop, I got street hustler, con artist, scammer. In this case Ms. Dawn was more expensive than Mercedes, with her aftermarket part serving self. When you take a person 's property you have a duty to tell them up front CASH only payment is required. Which to me is a red flag, I have a practice to stay away from businesses with a requirement in form of payment I tend to them. It speaks volumes for the business and it tell me about the kind of business owner you are: 1) You don't believe in the quality of work you provide. 2.) Obviously you don't know your target market customer 3) Your not savvy in business, because repeat business is what takes 100K business to $1Mill and $1Mill to $10Mill companies etc... 4) Your laden with financial troubles so your not deemed fiscally responsible. Therefore only way you can make money is to take people's property then threaten tow & impound to get your money. WHO does that? I told that I felt like you were pressuring me, when you call there's another thing wrong with my vehicle. This place charged me over $400 to rebuild a two barrel carburetor. It took two days.

My wife and I have been customers of this shop for about four years and have spent literally thousands of dollars on repairs for our vehicles over the years. To that end, we have enjoyed pretty decent service from them. Only decent because we have sometimes had to bring the vehicles back to have repairs corrected, or found that instructions were not communicated properly between the owner and the mechanics. However, we didn't experience anything so terrible that it would cause us to change mechanics. Until now... My wife had an experience with the shop; and the owner in particular which has caused us to rethink our choice of auto mechanics. We had an older minivan that we had actually purchased through her shop. It was okay at first, but in the first year needed over 2K in repairs. Last week my wife brought the vehicle into the shop because it was having more issues. After the owner got the car on the lift she let us know that the repairs would total $1200. At that point we decided enough was enough and decided to buy a new car instead of sinking more money into this vehicle. My wife told the owner not to do the repairs and that we would make arrangements to get the vehicle removed from the repair shop. Later the same day, she called us again and said that the car was still on the rack and had we made a decision about getting the minivan repaired? My wife told the owner (again) that we were not going to get the vehicle repaired. I'm not sure why it didn't sink in the first time, but when she realized that her shop wasn't going to be doing the repairs, she pitched a fit over the phone about the car sitting on the rack and why didn't we tell her this time first time. Amazing... So, she said that she was going to charge us $100 dollars for the diagnostic. My wife and I didn't find that to be an unreasonable charge, so we paid it. Then, the owner of the shop went on to say that if we wanted it put back together, it would be another $100. We chose not to pay that because it seemed like a disreputable practice to charge extra to put the engine parts back where they belong. When my wife got to the van the next day, there were engine parts in a pile right on the seat in the car. The level of disrespect and "take it or leave it" attitude that my wife received is causing us to sever our relationship with this repair shop. read more

Last time I was in Phoenix, I needed a water pump and timing belt for my Honda Accord. Unfortunately, I had the work done by a mechanic I didn't know wasn't certified (Mike Allen of Lifetime Auto). After the repair, the car was running horribly. This time, I was staying in Phoenix with a friend and was on my way to Oklahoma. I decided to get my oil changed and my car checked out by Moon Valley Auto care. I asked them to do an inspection. As I suspected, there were some problems, the major one being that the timing belt was improperly installed. Moon Valley suggested I take it back to the original mechanic since I'd already paid for that repair. The original mechanic insisted that wasn't the problem. He wanted yet more money to do a tune-up and "if" that didn't solve the problem, he'd "look at" the timing belt. I didn't trust the original mechanic. He was supposed to have my car for 24 hours, but had it for five days. He didn't do the work properly and then when a certified mechanic told him that, he didn't believe them. I didn't want to give this guy any more of my money. Moon Valley performed an oil change, replaced my oil valve cover gasket, the alternator and power steering belts, and they did the timing belt job the way it should have been done in the first place. When I drove away, the car was running perfectly. They also gave me a list of other repairs and maintenance I will need in the near future, telling me which ones were most important and which could probably wait. Dawn and Juan did a fantastic job and left me feeling safe with the work done, as well as more knowledgeable about what other repairs my car will need. The prices were reasonable, especially since the job was done right. For instance, I paid the other mechanic $400 for a bad timing belt repair. Moon Valley charged me just a little over $400 and the repair was done properly. They had my car ready when they said they would, and they called me with updates when needed. I would highly recommend Moon Valley and when I return to Phoenix I will definitely have them do any needed repairs. read more

This shop is run by a family, more specifically by the eldest daughter, Dawn. This put me at ease from the very beginning, I feel like men mechanics can spout a bunch of car jargon and know that most women do not have a clue!!! Therefore charging a ton of money for useless things. I took my 12 year old Volvo there for a "noise". Anytime there is a noise, who knows what it really is. I was scared to death it was something major, but it ended up being a simple fix, BUT what I liked was that they alerted me to another more serious issue my other mechanic failed to spot - a crack in the radiator and some worn and dried out hoses. It was not high pressure sales of any kind, simply them finding it, communicating with me, and then letting me make the decision to fix it or wait. I was glad they were able to help prevent something bad from happening in the future, for that I am very thankful. read more

I again dropped my dead 2004 Jeep in their laps. I was told by roadside assistance my alternator or starter was out. It wound up being a battery issue which was cheaper and she didn't pressure me to add more repairs. dawn in the office is the Queen of the office and takes very good care of her customers. DO NOT TRUST DAWN WHO WORKS AT THIS COMPANY. I had a deal to purchase a vehicle from someone who had moved out of the country and was not able to get back to Arizona. The vehicle was an older vehicle from 2006 and had a dead battery and had been sitting for a very long time. No one knew it's condition. I arranged to have it towed to Moon Valley Auto Care (they had the warranty on the battery per the owner) and they were going to do the work to get the vehicle up and running. Once Dawn realized I had a great deal on the vehicle she offered the owner more money to steal the purchase away from me. Of course once the owner of the vehicle was offered more money I would either need to match it or lose the deal. I walked away but Dawn's actions were extremely unprofessional and unethical. read more

I've trusted them twice now with my car, I was a master mechanic for 22 years, both times they try to hit me with huge bills for repairs that weren't even necessary. Don't take your vehicle there, they will try to convince you that there's all kinds of problems to run up your bill. I brought 2 vehicles there with minor problems trusting them to diagnose and possibly repair, a $200 repair turned into thousands of dollars by claiming things were wrong that weren't. The last time, I calmly expressed how I felt because I brought my son's car to diagnose a knocking noise when the brakes are applied, they not only couldn't answer what was wrong, but claimed it needed all kinds of repairs and wanted $50 for diagnostics that they didn't do. They removed and replaced the front tires, when I tried to remove the right front wheel, the lug nuts were impacted on so tight, that I couldn't get them loose, I returned and asked Dawn if they could loosen them to the proper torque specifications, she refuses, told me to get out and an old man came up as if he was going to physical assault me if I didn't leave immediately, I spent an hour at Discount tire getting the lug nuts loose and it was the front motor mount causing the noise.That's how you'll be treated if you dare share your opinion about the repairs or price. I paid $110 the first time to simply tell me if the engine fan was bad, they wanted $1400 to replace the fan, claiming the wrong coolant was in the radiator, I did it in 45 minutes for $265 and there's only one kind of coolant!? Her comments aren't only ridiculous lies, but an example of their treatment of customers, all she ever told me is that my cars needed a lot of absolutely unnecessary repairs. I told you that I would report your actions and did so on several levels, I just hope that it helps people from wasting thousands of dollars by being lied to. read more

Right after a Thanksgivings trip To CA my car broke down. Thank god right after we got home and not on the road. So I thought it was my fuel Pump so I had it towed to Moon Valley Motor care. The staff was awesome very helpful and Friendly. it was my fuel pump, When I went to pick up my car the price was $200 less then what I was quoted because I didn't need a certain piece. That piece was in the gas tank and I would never know weather it was replaced or not visually. Talk about an honest Mech!! The most pleasant experience I have ever had with a garage. MV Motor Care was very helpful in getting my car in, they were also courteous and patient. MVMC has great reviews and I agree this is why I chose to take my car there. Unfortunately, my outcome has not been so nice to put it presentationally. We are still in dispute from the services received from August of 2014 to what I feel was un-authorized and to what Dawn DiMarco felt was authorized work. Although she has offered for a $100.00 off for the future installation of an alternator it is hard for my husband and I to return to MVMC. We hope the owner will see things from our perspective as a business owner that has dealt with customer satisfaction for over twenty years. read more

I had a good experience Moon Valley they flushed my radiator in my Motor Home great price, and friendly staff

We took our BMW in for a brake job. What we got was a hose job. They charged us for 6 rotors when the car only has 4. Then they charged $130 for an inspection fee, claiming they needed to check fluid level and tail lights. They did refund the cost of the extra rotors but had to ask for the additional tax. When I called and asked what they would have done if my wife had said there price was to high and was going to take it somewhere less expensive, they said they would have charged her that inspection fee anyway, a fee normally waived if work is done. A fee that was never discussed up front, but was added to a bill that my unknowing wife went ahead and paid. When confronted, Dawn agreed to refund the amount but instead sent a card to our home address, reniging on her word. Not only hosed us but lied about the refund. We had a new radiator installed paid over $500.00, On the drive home everything seemed fine. The very next day the car was running hot and locked up. Contact a towing company and had the vehicle towed back down to Moon Valley. We were thinking it had something to do with the radiator we just had replaced. We then received a phone call stating we have a blown head gasket. So now I have no vehicle, out $500.00, plus the tow, and to top it off they charged me another $100.00 for a diagnostic fee. First off, I will say that this is the best, most friendly privately owned oil change/repair shop I have ever been to!! I drive a vehicle that is only a couple years old and my air-conditioner quit blowing cold air randomly. I went to the dealership where I purchased the truck (and a brand new Tahoe last year) and they told me they could not get me in today and basically to screw off. well, in Arizona going in couple of days without air-conditioning in your vehicle is a nightmare already and for them to tell me they could not get me in today (Friday) is very poor customer service, especially whenever you buy two vehicles brand-new from them. I needed it fixed asap so I found this place through Google maps and decided to stop here on my way out of town. I was a little bit skeptical at first because of how small the place was and did not look like the type of place you would take a vehicle that's only two or three years old to.. I was completely wrong!! They were able to get me in right away and got my air-conditioner blowing cold air. The service guy actually showed me what was wrong and was very personable and polite. A week ago I took my truck to the dealership to get some recalls taken care of, got my oil changed, and basically for a check up to make sure everything is working properly. They failed to fill up my washer fluid, which is a small issue and I can do it myself, but Moon Valley Motor topped it off for me and made sure everything was good to go before I drove out of town. The dealership never even checked the air conditioning (on the paperwork it shows everything that they checked and the a/c was one of them). I recommend this place to everybody no matter what, even if your car is under warranty or brand-new, they offer the best service in the valley and I will be returning. Even though my truck is still under warranty, I would rather pay to get my truck worked on and go to Moon Valley Motor than go back to the dealership to deal with their crappy service department. read more

Traveling across the country from the east coast and needed to get my car checked. i was referred to Moon Valley Motor Care by a friend who I was staying with. They were super nice and super clear with all the problems with the car. They even offered to drive me back to the place I was staying and pick me up when the car was ready! There were a lot of issues and cost (and the mechanics were able to explain and show me directly the whats and the whys) but Dawn was nice enough to check the tire pressure sensors for free as one thing less to stress about. Moon Valley Auto Repair Customer BEWARE!! In June of 2013, I took my RV to Moon Valley Auto Repair after it had failed emissions control testing. I drove the vehicle in and towed it out. After $650 dollars worth of tinkering they had replaced a brand new Auto Parts starter I had just installed not more than 30 days previously with a supposedly superior Delco starter. Moon Valley told me they would put the Auto Parts starter in the RV and I could take it back for an exchange. The also replaced a few vacuum hoses but never got the vehicle running. At this point I was told I now needed a new fly wheel on the transmission with the cost of approximately $1000 and a new radiator and hoses for the additional cost of $1000. The estimate to get the additional necessary repairs to the vehicle and get it out of the shop was $2000 to $3000. At this point I knew I had stepped into the auto repair shop scam headquarters ran by a east coast witch named" Dawn", with a screw the suckers attitude to making money and customer service. The Auto parts starter was never placed in the RV so I could make a return. I was told that they returned the new Auto Parts starter for a core charge. I paid the $650 bill without a comment and called a tow truck ($300) to take the RV to part time mechanic friend who replaced the flywheel for $300. So the fly wheel was a legitimate needed repair ( although he stated he had never seen a fly wheel damage in this manner) but the radiator and hoses were bogus Approximately 4 months later after having started the RV a few dozen times the new superior Delco starter that Moon Valley Auto installed went out while on the road. I had the vehicle towed ($280)to a recommended Glendale mechanic and they replaced the Delco rebuilt starter with a new factory starter that is now working like a champ. I took the superior Delco rebuilt starter back to Moon Valley and simply asked them to either return this starter for a new starter or return my money. I did not ask for my money back for the installation of a faulty starter, I just asked them to replace the starter. I was told they no longer had a box for the starter and it could not be returned for a refund or a new starter. I was also told by Dawn that she could not verify that this was even the starter that her shop installed. When I suggest that she simply check her records to verify the serial number she told me she could not do that. When I asked for my money back and confronted the owner about the estimates for the radiator and hose work that did not need to be done she threatened to call the police if I did not leave her shop. I have since spoken to a neighbor who had a similar experience. He took his truck to Moon Valley and he was giving a long list of necessary repairs running into the thousands of dollars. The man then took the truck to his local Chevy dealer for a second estimate. The Chevy dealer found NO NEED for any of the repairs than Moon Valley had deemed necessary. They repaired his truck for a few hundred dollars. In relating this story to a third auto shop that has just completed the starter repair a mechanic informed me that he once worked for the tow company owned and operated by Moon Valley. He stated that he had quit after discovering how they operated and also stated " Those people are crooks with a rude attitude towards customers". End of Story! read more

The staff was really nice I called when I was on the road and they told me to come right in for an oil change. My husband was at work so therefore I couldn't go anywhere but stay in the shop while the work was being done. The shop really doesn't have a "waiting area" and kind of left me in an awkward position walking around with my one year old. There were two women in the office I chatted with one of them because she was expecting she was very nice, I also chatted with the owner he was also great and turns out we had a few commonalities both being from the east coast. Everything was great until the work was done on my car... The daughter of the owner basically pushed me out the door, I wasn't even done signing my paper work.. When she said " we got to get that car out of here" as she spoke indirectly over to the other female in the office and she was clearly speaking about me And my car. I took my car for an oil change because their location was convenient with my work. First oil change and tire rotation they said I needed injector cleaner and recommended air and cabin filter changes. Did the oil change and injectors, $150. Next oil change I had them change the oil and replace the filters - got a call that I should rotate the tires and the front struts were bad. The estimate for the struts was $660. Approved the filters and oil change, $150. I took my car to another mechanic to check the struts. He said IF they needed to be replaced it would be $440 and after he checked, the struts did not need to be replaced. I think they saw what they thought was a person who knew nothing about cars and would believe them. I would have had all necessary work done at Moon Valley prior to them trying to rip me off each time I was there. BEWARE. read more

12 hours before I'm supposed to drive from Phoenix to Minneapolis, my front wheel bears start to make noise. I just happen to be drive by Moon Valley Motor Care and stopped and talked to mechanic and told him what the problem was. Now keep in mind, it's Friday and two hours before they close. He test drove my truck, told me what it needed and said he could get it done, even if he had to stay late. Top shelf all the way. They offered to drive me to my house and call me when it was done. Their service is next to none and they are very fair on their prices. They could have very easily stuck it to me , especially being in the jam I was in, but didn't. I got estimates from 3 businesses, including Moon Valley Motor Care for a basic tune up. I chose to go with the dealership - they were the least expensive. During the service they found the timing belt wasnt installed properly. Moon Valley installed the timing belt in December 2013. When I took the car back to Moon Valley Dawn was more concerned with why I took my car someplace else than offering options to correct the problem. She was very defensive and tried to tell me there were probably other reasons why the car was running rough. She might be right, but her attitude and lack of good customer service upset me. I told her to give me back my paperwork so I could go get a second opinion elsewhere, and I would report her to the Better Business Bureau! She continued to badger me and insist there is probably something else wrong with my car. I told her to stop talking to me and she got so mad she kicked me out of her shop. She never checked their work! She told her mechanic to take the meter off my car. I went to another mechanic and discovered the dealership was right! The timing is off one tooth - funny, she mentioned the possibility of being off one tooth....I wonder if she knew? Long story short - this is not a business that stands behind their work! read more

Who says there's no such thing as angels? I was on my way to a business meeting in Phoenix Saturday morning when I heard a loud sound, then my tire pressure indicator came on to alert me that I was losing air pressure. I quickly pulled over into the first parking lot and opened my door to see the last of the air leaving my tire. I am recently divorced, and have never changed a tire in my life, thanks to the good man I was married to. I wasn't about to start now. I was dressed for a business meeting and didn't think I could do it in my heels and dress slacks. I noticed that I had pulled into the parking lot of Moon Valley Motor Care. "What luck!" I thought as I walked up to the door. My hopes were soon dashed when I realized they were not open on Saturdays. I went back to my car and called a towing company. I gave them my credit card number and they said they would have someone there within an hour. I waited about 10 minutes and someone pulled up and asked if I had a flat tire. Of course, I assumed it was someone from the towing company I had just called. He quickly and efficiently changed my tire for me and put the damaged tire in my trunk for me. I thanked him and asked him how I would receive my receipt. He said, "There's no receipt." I said, "What do you mean? I need it to turn in to my insurance company." He said, "There is no receipt because there is no charge. I just came in to the shop to pick up some tools and saw you sitting here with a flat tire." I said, "You mean you're not with the towing company I just called?" "Nope. You should call them back and cancel." That's what I did. I should have gotten his name so I could properly thank him, but I was so taken aback, and late for my meeting. But I couldn't stop thinking about the angel man with the name "Audrey" tattooed on his left arm. I live in Chandler and don't often get to Phoenix on a weekday, but if I ever am, I'm going to stop by and thank him. Always looking for a mechanic I can trust, why is it so hard? Ended up at Moon Valley with a dead fuel pump, and was very impressed. Everyone kept me informed about what the problem was, what the best part was, and everyone was knowledgeable pleasant to deal with, especially Dawn. She recommended cleaning the fuel injection system, didn't even try to have me do it there, but I will. The fuel pump was replaced quickly, at a very fair price. The service guy came back with five "recommendations" that I have done in addition to the oil change. I only authorized the one he said was most urgently needed, but left there feeling like I had been pushed into unnecessary repairs and cost. Today I went to Moon Valley Motor Care to have an oil change and to have them inspect my brakes. What a difference! After the mechanics inspected my car, Dawn respectfully and professionally answered my questions and told me that yes, I needed new front brakes (not a surprise - I was way overdue) and that I needed to replace the cabin air filter. The cabin air filter was NOT one of the dealer's recommended repairs, yet when Dawn showed me the filthy filter that they took out of my car, I realized that the dealer had missed this AND had recommended repairs way more expensive than the inexpensive air filter.
