Found this spot via Uber Eats and was surprised by the variety of vegetarian options. We went with the Korean BBQ Cauliflower wings, Avocado Bulgogi bowl and Sesame Surprise bowl. The bowls were assembled pretty neatly and portions were plentiful. The Avocado Bulgogi came with Impossible beef and it was very flavorful and quite tasty. This would probably be my go-to if ordering from Moonbowls again. The Sesame Surprise was quite a letdown though. This bowl came with tofu as the protein, but it was barely cooked and there was no flavor in the bowl. Either they forgot to add the sesame sauce, there was not enough sesame sauce, or the sesame sauce was way too bland. The KBBQ cauliflower wings were delicious, along with their vegan ranch dressing, but $12 felt a little pricy for the size of the app. I'd order again, but I'd be happier with a fuller take out container. read more

As a repeat customer of Moonbowls, I really just want them to be consistent. Their food, when prepared correctly, is amazing and unlike anything I've ever tasted, but the problem is every time I place an order it's a gamble. I've tried quite a few options on their menu, Seoul salad, Avocado Bulgogi, don't cauliflower it a comeback, and the cauliflower wings, and my faves that keep me coming back are the cauliflower wings and Avocado Bulgogi bowl. However, sometimes the wings are heavily battered and sauced, sometimes they're lightly battered and a little drier, sometimes the cauliflower is mushy, sometimes an item from the bowl is missing, and of course sometimes everything is perfect. But I honestly can't say I know which way is the way they intend to make the dishes, because they're different almost every time I order. Today I ordered just the cauliflower wings for lunch and they're lightly buttered and sauced this time, but the flavor was there so I didn't mind UNTIL I saw a pool of cooking oil about 2 bites in (picture attached). Heard about this place and the reviews looked good so I placed a delivery order. Honestly, it arrived on time but for $22, it was a major disappointment. I am being kind. The concept of a healthy bowl with an eco-friendly recycled bowl sounds nice but when it arrives, it's cold, and not plentiful enough to call a full meal. Please bare with me as I'm sure this is the worst review I will ever leave on Yelp. Let me give you a little background before I describe the experience. It's around 730, I decide hmm why don't I order from Postmates. Right? Sounds like a great idea. Absolutely not. Once the order was placed it said ETA 8:53pm. Now I'm a little disappointed because I wasn't even sure I'd be hungry by then, but again why not support a business I've never eaten at! so I remained hopeful. Now it's 845, there's no indication of my Postmates driver moving and I'm getting a little nervous. I wondered if the place was even open and if Postmates made a mistake so I called. When I called the lady on the other end told me how "the kitchen got backed up" and "she could see my order it should be leaving in 2 minutes." Now it's 855 when my food is supposed to be here and it still hasn't left! so I message my Postmates driver like hey did you pick up the food? He said "no because everytime I call they say it's 1 minute from being done." So now I'm furious, hungry, and getting angsty. I call the restaurant and they aren't answering my calls now... I called 3 times I knew they were ignoring me. Finally I mean finally at 930... LITERALLY 930. My food gets to me. TWO HOURS AFTER I PLACED MY ORDER. So I'm okay now right? The food is here whatever just enjoy. WRONG AGAIN. They are so lucky I was paying attention to what I was putting in my mouth because they put CHICKEN in my food!!!! GUYS I AM VEGAN. So now I'm hungry, very disappointed and distrustful. I would give this place one star but I feel so bad for my Postmates driver who got sucked into the middle of this. Tried twice within one week and had two very different experiences: On our first visit, we tried two orders of the sesame surprise, added fried egg. Both bowls were we flavored, tofu was soft fresh and flavorful, sesame dressing was rich and tasty. The portions were also pretty fair, and seemed just as filling as a Sweetgreen bowl. On our second visit, everything was a miss. We tried the sesame surprise again but this time, tofu was old & dry, rice was undercooked. My husband tried the hot chicken bowl, which ended up being even worse -- chicken was clearly microwaved, breading was soggy, & you could tell from the taste of it that the chicken had been refrigerated/reheated. Not fresh and pretty underwhelming. The gochujang sauce tasted more like chalula/tobasco & was super watery, not remotely anything like Korean chili paste. Rice again undercooked. Pretty bummed bc our first visit was so much better, but goes to show that maybe consistency is an issue here. Or maybe just stick to the tofu and cross your fingers that you get a fresh batch. After this second visit, it's really a toss up if we'd try this place again, which is a bummer bc we really liked it the first time. Also a little bummed they don't have real beef bulgogi. I discovered this place on accident one night through Caviar and have been obsessed ever since. The sesame surprise bowl is my ultimate favorite. I am a huge stan of sesame in general, and moonbowls did if right. My mom and I have tried almost every singe bowl combo and ever played around with our own creations. You really cannot go wrong with any of them. The avocado bulgogi is also a house favorite but the chicken and egg is also super flavorful. With 5 bases to choose from - brown rice and the purple potato noodles (worth the extra $2) I recommend getting. Building your own bowl is greats alternative to getting creative or if you're someone like me who had ordered 12 times from here now and you now know exactly what you like.... My only criticism is the baked chicken - just gets kind of soggy in the bowl is all. I highly recommend adding the flash fried cauliflower to ANY bowl bc it's AMAZING! I ordered a custom bowl off Yelp. It took a long time to be delivered but I don't think that was moonbowl's fault. A few of my ingredients were left off (an extra sauce, garlic, and ginger) but the bowl was so good without these things that I didn't really mind. The food was very clean looking and tasting and I loved the flavors of the sauce that I did get and the bamboo rice. The food is good flavor-wise but inconsistent, my order has been incorrect before (something small but annoying, like forgetting a side that I paid extra for), often cold, and often takes far longer than predicted. Still, the promise of what it could be, convenience, and the occasional promo code has kept me going back. Tonight was probably the final straw, though. I ordered through Uber Eats to pick up on my way home. It said 10-20 minutes for pickup, and then I got a notification maybe five minutes later that it was ready for pickup. Sketchy, but fine. I was there maybe ten minutes later and was told (by the very nice, helpful man in the Kitchen United thing) that it actually wasn't ready yet and that somebody was working on it. Probably ten minutes later he handed it over. When I got home (truly a five minute walk later), I could tell it was cold when I took it out of the bag, so I know the issue wasn't that it was still being cooked. I understand being busy but then when we got it, both bowls were such a disappointment. My chicken & egg bowl was cold. The chicken was rubbery and had no taste. The wild rice in both bowls were undercooked and the vegetables that were mixed together tasted all the same. Thank God for the gochujang sauce that came with it to give it some flavor! My sister had the avocado bulgogi bowl which didn't come with almost any wild rice and hadno flavor! It was our first time ordering from Moonbowls and unfortunately I don't think we will order again. We ordered the Chicken and Egg, Korean BBQ Cauliflower Wings and Sweet Chicken MyKimchi and the food came quick and hot. The only quarrel I had was that the wild rice I swapped in could have been cooked just a littttle longer. I have ordered moon bowl 3 times in the last week. Its very close to my job so I decided to try it out. The first time I tried the chicken and kimchi bowl and got it delivered. It was very tasty and still very hot (probably because of the close proximity to my job). The second time I ordered the Chicken and Egg and it was also very enjoyable. The flavors all meshed very well together. My third order was the Avocado Bulgogi and let me say this first I AM NOT A FAN OF VEGAN MEAT OR FOOD but this was a pleasant surprise. The flavors were so packed in that I forgot it wasn't actual beef. What i will say is Its probably better to get delivery or pickup in the daytime because the pickup area is on a side street and it looks a little shady at night. When I order food delivery, I usually have a couple of go-to restaurants that I order from, rarely ever straying from my couple of faves. Being vegan, it's a pain enough to order food delivery so it's nice when I find a restaurant I know will truly be vegan and taste yummy too! I've been a fan of Native Foods for about 4 1/2 years, usually spending up to $500/month. The food IS great! Not going to lie, BUT the food delivery service is less than par. I've ordered meals with drinks and if they don't have the drinks, instead of calling and asking for a replacement, they just omit It from the order. I've had many times when they forget to include salad dressing....because we ALL love to eat salad without dressing, right? There have been MANY cases when my order is screwed up. It's at least 50% of the time where I am missing items. The thing that kept me going back was the food. The last time I ordered from them, once again, I didn't receive salad dressing....what makes this salad sooo good IS the dressing! I mean, anyone can put greens and toppings together and make a salad. What made me even MORE upset was that every item on the receipt had been crossed off to confirm that the item was packed in the delivery bag. WHY cross off the list if you aren't even checking to see if the items are in the bag? When I called the restaurant, the person answering the phone replied "Sorry, we're busy." Ok....this happens to me almost every other time I order. Being busy is NOT a valid excuse. You're busy, but not too busy to cross off each item off the list to do your fake verification. The very next day, I decided to go out of my comfort zone and try a place called moonbowls (healthy Korean bowls) and boy was I BLOWN away!!!! I had always loved the cauliflower dippers at Native Foods, part of the reason why I put up with the incompetence for so many years, but the Korean BBQ Cauliflower Wings at moonbowls are to die for!!! They are HUGE and soooo tasty!!! The portions at this restaurant are so big, I usually save half of my order for the next day and it tastes just as good!!! I have also tried the Don't Cauliflower it a Comeback bowl and the Avocado Bulgogi bowl. Definitely two of my faves by far!!!! It's been about 9 days since my last order with Native Foods and I have ordered from moonbowls and tonight will be my 3rd time to order from them. Not only is the food delicious, but the customer service is excellent! They sent a text to see how my order was, they offered a free bowl after my first order.
