Cons: I ordered the Christmas Roll described as: Crab meat, avocado, cucumber; Top: King crab and crunch spicy eel sauce, masago, and scallions. From this description I expected to find real (not imitation) crab, at least in the top. It was a high priced roll $22, and typically when sushi menus go out of their way to define it as king crab it is actual crab. I was very disappointed to have imitation crab draped over my roll. The other roll I ordered was the Jessica Alba which I orders melted mainly for the thinly sliced lemon topping. Disappointed again then half of the roll did not have this element. My hubby had chicken teriyaki, would strongly not recommend. Service and timing was mediocre at best as I had to stare at my rolls for ten minutes as we waited for his food to arrive. Moonga was a cool new find for us, and bonus points, in the mountains, so our quick drive was also gorgeous. Thinking about sushi, Moonga was decently priced and really fresh, despite being land locked. We ordered an assortment of oysters, sushi and sashimi. Their creations were fabulous - we chose spice and zoned in on the jalepenos! Each bite was amazing. Staff were great and took fabulous care of us as well. The Unagi Roll was the standout for me -- perfectly done and packed with flavor. Their drink menu is great too, especially the sake selections. I came in with my family (including my 3 year old) on a busy Sunday evening. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance and the food was stellar. I find that in Colorado, the restaurants are often exaggerated as being high quality or tasty. This is not the case with Moonga. Even though the restaurant was packed and I had my hands full with keeping my 3 year old entertained, the service was top notch and they didn't seem to mind our noisy and hectic party. I met my granddaughter there and she's short, so I took the couch side. I was never comfortable and the couch is too low and goes too far back (pillows would help). We ate here last week for the first time in the recommendation of friends who live in Bergen Park. We love sushi; we used to live three blocks from Sushi Den/Izakaya Den in Denver would go there all the time. Moonga Sushi is great!! We had 2 rolls and a bunch of nigiri. The fish was very fresh; the server recommended, in addition to our other nigiri, the geoduck that had just been flown in that day. It was excellent! My wife ordered a roll with cream cheese; we likely won't order that one again as the ratio of cream cheese to fish was too high for our tastes. It wasn't bad, just too cheesy for us. But everything else was spot on. We like the rice they use, not your typical sushi rice and it added a nice flavor to the fish. Their sake list is quite good, we very much enjoyed our 300 mL bottle, and being whiskey lovers we were impressed they had Kujira 15 year! We're glad we arrived when we did; the tables were mostly full, though the sushi bar was wide open. However, within 15 minutes of us being seated at the last open table, the restaurant got packed, and every seat was gone. The ambience was nice, the service was attentive, though we did have to wait a little bit for our initial contact with the server; they were quite busy and only appeared to have one person taking orders. They are hiring, hopefully they find some more help soon, but that's always the challenge of good restaurants in Evergreen, finding help. But the server was friendly, attentive, and fun. Was it as good at Sushi Den/Izakaya Den? Not quite, but almost. They could dial in their roll recipes a bit more. But they were very, very good, and we're thrilled we don't have to drive down the hill now for good sushi! We'll definitely be back, a lot!! read more

We came for our anniversary. We arrived 5pm, the restaurant was not all that busy. I ordered ramen and my husband ordered sushi. We also ordered an appetizer, which came out quickly. My ramen followed very quickly. I waited to eat as my husband didn't have his hand rolls yet. After five minutes, we asked and our waitress said it would be out shortly. We waited another five minutes and asked again. By that time, my ramen was getting cold so I started eating. Ten minutes later (20 minutes in total after my food arrived) his sushi arrived. I was finished eating by then. In retrospect, I should have sent the ramen back and ask them to remake when his food arrived. We will not return. They did offer us some free ice cream, we declined. If you do decide to go, all order from either the kitchen side or the sushi side but not both. read more

This was my first time at Moonga Sushi Grill & Ramen. The restaurant is decorated nicely and the jazz music adds to the ambience. I was served water, but the waitress didn't seem to like that I requested a lemon to go with it. When she returned to take my order I had to ask again. I ordered the "Spicy Ramen", but asked if I could substitute the pork for chicken. The waiter told me no problem. When I requested garlic to be added, I was told they don't have any garlic to add. The ramen was not spicy so I asked for some chili oil. The waitstaff seemed irritated with the requests and did not seem to enjoy their job. When the bill came, they charged me an extra $3.00 for the chicken substitute. When I reminded the waiter that he said "no problem" when I asked to substitute, he said the chicken was more. I told him that he should have informed me there would be an extra charge. I have ordered ramen in multiple states this year and they all substituted the chicken for pork and added garlic at no extra charge. I think once Moonga dials in their customer service and makes the ramen actually spicy, they could be great! read more
