I specify in-person because calling them on the phone to confirm details was terrible. AI agent phone screen and then when a real person picked up, he seemed to have zero answers about the property and the amenities. In-person though, the service was fantastic. Friendly staff and guest services showing up at lightning speed left me speechless. Called down for extra slippers, and guest services showed up within 5 minutes. Asked for water as well and he returned within 2 minutes. Swear the staff must be sprinting or something. The rooms are great. We got a lagoon view, which while not as beautiful as an ocean view, was quite nice. We had a view of the freeway and a parking lot, but in the not-so-far distance, there was a nice view of the lagoon. The room. patio, and shower are all massive. Even at 100% capacity and a wedding happening during our stay, we never felt like it was too crowded. No loud noises throughout the night either.

Parking was valet only which was quick and seamless (and free!). The staff at the entry of the hotel was super helpful in providing directions to get down to the pool as one of my girlfriend's said it was a little confusing to find, but I was given a clear guide on how to get down there and got there without issue. We had our own server at the cabana who provided us with our free fruit plate and bottle of bubbly to share, and took food and drink orders. She and her coworkers checked on us pretty frequently and kept us well-stocked. The day was a little overcast and cloudy but the pool was a lovely cool temp, and the jacuzzi was in the same general area so when we got a little chilly we hopped on over. After spending some time in the adult-only pool area, we headed up to the family friendly deck and took a couple of runs down the slides, which was super fun. Around the time we were meant to clear out, our server was super sweet and let us know they would just start to pick up around us but we were welcome to stay longer if we wanted to, since there was no one coming in behind us. We continued relaxing until we were all ready to go but first we got to chatting with another staff member, Bryan, who was super rad and shared all his favorite nearby spots to eat. The staff is really so wonderful here! Very friendly and professional. So you're telling me in this entire hotel there aren't any towels !!?? Find that hard to believe !! Also at night every other hour there is a train that passes by and blares its horn , so I could not get any sleep! Also at the pool there is no towels available once they are gone .

That's not to be confused with showing its age, because it absolutely could use a facelift, but the cleanliness was there. It's convenient! Right by the freeway and yet close enough to downtown Encinitas to walk to dinner or shopping. Conveniently located right across the street from Lazy Acres, a laundromat, Mexican food, and Mr. Peabody's bar and grill. It has a nice little gym. Was there some dust? Sure but the equipment and weights did the trick, and the small gym had a little patio to stand on during cool downs. NO added cost to park cars! Some hotels were asking for $30-40 per night per vehicle and this place had the cost covered in the standard $15 hotel fee. Park as many cars as you'd like. Come and go as you please. The parking lot felt safe, and as a woman making several trips to my car in the evening I felt just fine. It's nice that you're up on a hill so you do feel more secluded from any possible unsavory surprises. No hidden fees! They are upfront about taxes and there were no surprises. WiFi was just fine, though our stay was not during busy season. Continental breakfast is included! Fried eggs and sausage were very average, but grab some coffee, a pastry, some toast, juice, cereal and you don't have to think twice about breakfast. It was basic but not gross by any means. This is not the place for you if you're expecting 5 star service, but it would be a great spot for families visiting town. Note: turn down service and daily cleaning is not provided but this was not an issue for us staying just a few days. Comfy beds and pillows, towels are nice. Front desk staff was helpful when needed, and every room has a nice balcony view. The walls are thin so if you're by the elevator or ice machine, expect to hear some kids running down the halls, but this place has everything we needed at a very affordable rate. We were initially given a noisy room on the front side facing the freeway which was not what we requested. They claimed that we changed it which was not true but "stuff happens" and they still gave us a room on the backside that faced neighborhood homes. Since it was quiet, no harm, no foul. No name cheap coffee for in-room coffeemaker. TP quality in the bathroom is still poor and might be the same lousy nearly transparent grade school restroom variety. The grout is eroding on the tile floors in multiple spots in the bathroom and room so maintenance may not be too dialed in here. The shower is especially annoying by design. It is very, very narrow. I am nearly 6'1" and weigh 177 pounds and this space is tight. To add to the limited space, they cluelessly mounted big shower gel, shampoo and conditioner bottles right in your space on the RIGHT side. On your LEFT side is the interior shower door handle which protrude into your space substantially. You cannot alternate the doors unless you want to create a gap and flood your bathroom floor. Even the handicap bar is in your space which creates an annoying showering experience. They should have alternated the shower doors and moved the bottles to the far end of the shower. On the positive, the Zero brand products are pretty nice. The room has contemporary looks with a big TV and lots of channels including good sports channels. There is the usual fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, desk etc. The heat/ac adjustment is nice as well. Bed is MEDIUM firmness and pretty comfortable. There are oddball sloped/angled floors on the 2nd level which will make you wonder if Salvador Dali designed them or a funhouse designer. The carpet pattern choice adds to the fun. Truthfully, I liked it. Breakfast hours are liberal which is a nice plus. The water station in the hallway on ground level turned out to be very convenient to our room which was a positive for refills. Breakfast featured oatmeal (slightly less runny than last time), and I added walnuts and maple syrup. I used the ladle to make less runny. You can choose vanilla or smore's waffle batter for the waffle maker. I opted for vanilla. There are the usual juices, Activia strawberry, plain yogurt etc. The bacon is crispy and thin and small (more like shrapnel) but does the trick. The scrambled eggs have shredded cheddar cheese available on the side. There are sausage patties, cinnamon-apple mini muffins, blueberry mini-muffins, hot coffee etc. The area is clean and very well serviced by familiar staff. Staff are friendly and take care of you from front desk to breakfast space.

Most recently I stayed a week ago and my experience has always been great. This hotel has always been no frills, low cost hotel for people like myself that travel places to go out and explore. If you are more of the type that enjoys the extra amenities this may not be you top choice but for me its perfect. Super close to the Encinitas train station (a couple blocks away; walkable) along across the street is a variety of stores, a supermarket, places to eat, and a gas station. It is only a few blocks away from downtown Encinitas where there is a huge abundance of restaurants, bars, coffee, and mom and pop shops. Also very close to the ocean. My customer service has always been great. I always call in ahead to verify my reservation and at times have arrive before check in and they are happy to set me up in a room early if there is one available. Most recently they have upgraded the rooms and done a whole face lift on all of them. A very nice touch. New beds, new paint, new TVs, new showers, new barn bathroom doors and hard wood floors Even before the face lift the room have always been clean, no bugs, and a very basic place to stay with no issues. They have a community pool that I have never checked out personally but it is there is you are interested. This location deserves more credit than it get here on yelp. Our room itself was clean except for a marijuana cigarette in its purchase container that we discovered between a mattress and the headboard. The makeshift lobby was difficult to find. We had no housekeeping service for the three days we stayed. Breakfast was a store-bought muffin and coffee (but we knew that in advance so it's o.k., but we planned to have a real breakfast in the cafe on the property that was listed as an amenity on the Wyndham website but it was permanently closed without warning). I will not trust the Days Inn brand or the Wyndham brand again.
