Broadway Cafe is super lowkey and not a restaurant that would immediately come to mind if someone were to ask me to name three Korean restaurants in the Ann Arbor/Ypsi area. If you're ever craving a Philly cheesesteak, Broadway is the place to checkout if you want a Korean version of it! Also, if you want seolleongtang (not all Korean restaurants here have it on the menu, if I recall correctly), Broadway has it. I haven't been here for awhile, but my friend and I stopped by for lunch this past Tuesday. It's still the same as it was a few years ago -- you order up at the counter and they will bring you the food in a tray when it's ready. SOON DUBU - 13.99 I was feeling more of a soup since it was pretty chilly and this soondubu warmed me up. It was pretty good with a mix of seafood (squid and clams) along with pieces of beef. The broth was decently flavorful and the tofu met my expectations. The soondubu wasn't the best I've had, but it satisfied my cravings. It also comes with kimchi on the side but I thought it was too sour for my liking, but my friend really liked it. Most people love their cheesesteak and bulgogi hoagies which is pretty affordable. Plus, the hoagies are super big, so you'll definitely be full. My friend enjoyed the hoagie she got and could barely finish it (because it was a lot).

There are 7 tables, no restroom facility for patrons. You order at the counter, pay, and seat yourself. I walked in and barely waited 3 min before someone walked out to take my order. There were 2 people that saw me but did not acknowledge me. I almost walked out because of the lack of service, but after leaving the office I was too tired to even think about going to another place. The bulgogi cheeeesteak and fried dumplings were very good. The price is fair, the wait for my meal to be prepared took about 10 min. Not long at all. As I was scarfing down my dinner, I noticed regulars coming in to place orders to-go. The fried dumplings wasn't greasy, bite-sized, vegetarian so it balanced my ginormous carnivore hoagie. The bulgogi was flavorful, the vegetables still had a light crunch to it. It would have been nicer if it had more cheese but I cannot complain. I was enjoying my quiet dinner time overlooking the parking lot.

This place has the Bulgogi Hogie worthy of a stop! If I only had this item, it would be all five stars at this Korean inspired diner. Somehow it has a slight creamy texture (like cheese), and juicy like a philly steak sandwich. It's a mom and pop place and the server was very pleasant. Dumplings and fries were crispy. My friend had the stir fried pork, which was a bit on the sweet side. The meat was probably frozen and thinly pre-sliced and did not have much meat flavor. I saw some Koreans ordering items not on the menu, so there might be other things to try. I would like to return for the traditional items and my review might go higher because we all had a pleasant lunch. BTW, the hoagie was big enough for two people. In an odd location in AA, but somewhat close to Argo Livery. Bonus is free parking lot in this small strip mall.

"Wait- We're going to a Korean restaurant?" My partner's family suggested we stop in here for some Korean food, and I'll admit. I was a smidge confused. The name and exterior do not stream "Korean Restaurant". Honestly, the interior doesn't scream it either. And yet, we ended up having a fantastic time. My partner had told me stories about how he had grown up eating at Broadway Cafe, and I could see why it had such a strong hold over his childhood. We chatted with the new owners who seemed very nice, and it was confirmed that the food tasted just as good as before. I ordered the Bulgogi Hoagie on the name alone. (Go on - Say it. It's just fun to say.) It was pretty solid. I'm not sure it's the best thing on their menu, but I enjoyed it. I was very envious of my partner's cheese steak hoagie which seemed like much more American fare. It was delicious. I had to hold myself back from eating his lunch instead of mine. We also got the bi bim bap which was much more traditional Korean food, and that was also a knock out hit. How do I describe this restaurant? It's hard to say. Authentically Korean-American? The best thing in their menu, to me, was the Cheese Steak Hoagie, and yet the Korean dishes were a knock out too. You've gotta experience it for yourself to understand. Actually, I'm still not sure I understand. Whatever. It tasted delicious.

This is as good as take out photos go. The Cheese Steak Hoagie with extra meat and peppers on the side.

This place has been a childhood favorite. I am so happy they are still here (post pandemic). The food is great. The hoagies are my favorite. This may not be a popular statement but I like them over Gabriel's Hoagies. Those are good but these have a little Asian flavor to them. Delicious. AND they are huge! You won't care about spending 10 bucks. Doooooo it! This is a short review because Broadway is amazing. Nothing more to say. It's in a strip mall. Not fancy. Just damn good food.

The owner of Broadway Cafe unfortunately just passed away, so they are temporarily closed this week (02/15-20/2021). Please support this mom and pop restaurant if you can when they reopen: they serve delicious Korean food (the best in Ann Arbor IMO), and they're extremely friendly and kind. They've added online ordering on their website https://www.broadwaycafehoagie.com/ since the pandemic started, which makes ordering easy and convenient. My favorite dish here is the Soon Dooboo ($10.35). It's a spicy tofu stew that comes with seafood and beef, but you can ask them to omit the beef or adjust the spiciness level if you want. The tofu is tender and the broth is flavorful and delicious. It comes with rice (no banchan), but you can purchase kimchi as a side. Another favorite here is the Dukbokki ($11.99), which are stir-fried Korean rice cakes with fish cakes and cabbage in a spicy sauce. It's a new menu item that they added last year, and it's surprisingly spicy. If you've never had dukbokki before, it's made from glutinous rice flour so it has a great chewy texture (similar to mochi or nian gao).

The spicy squid and the tteokbokki looks quite good here. Spicy squid here looks quite tasty. We are really hoping we might get some banchans with the meal, but it's not a distinctly Korean spot, so it's possible no sides. They were open, verified ahead on the phone. The woman that answered greeted me in Korean, as expected. I asked for their hours. 8pm. I thanked her. She hung up rather abruptly after I thanked her. Hopefully she was quite busy and not just being gruff and rushed. Total is $14.83 for the spicy squid. The order would take about 15 minutes to make it up. No banchans, as we had thought. The spicy squid was okay, a bit too rubbery and over cooked for me. The sauce was a sweet and spicy flavor.

Was looking through Yelp for Korean food in AA and don't know how I've managed to miss this place for so long? From bulgogi hoagies, dukbokki, bibimbop, spicy ramen and more! Love the convenience of picking times when ordering online! I decided on the bulgogi hoagie. Definitely good size for the price. Filled with meat, peppers, mushrooms and cheese. The meat was super tender and flavor packed, I contemplated ordering more food and glad I didn't because this was plenty! Plan on stopping back to order more!

Yum yum yum! Delicious food at a great place. Sound this delicious dive due to a craving for a good sandwich and it did not disappoint! The bulgogi hoagie was packed with flavor, filling, and reasonably priced. Rolled the dice on the stew (Soon Dubu) which was also packed with loads of great seafood flavors and tons of protein! 10/10 recommend!!!

Excellent food! I returned here after many years to grab food for a family picnic at the nearby Island Park. I ordered 5 Bulgogi Hoagie's with fries and they were awesome. Next time, I'll be back for their Korean food.

Possibly the best tofu soup (soon dubu) in town! This is a cute mom and pop shop that you'd never guess created delicious Korean food from the outside appearance or name - don't be fooled, they really know how to cook! We tried the tofu soup (flavorful, spicy, jammed full of soft, melt-in-your-mouth tofu and loaded with a variety of seafood and bites of beef). We also ordered the stir fried beef/veggie glass noodles (japchae), and it was the right balance of bell peppers, beef, and black peppered noodles. My only disappointment would be the lack of the usual side dishes that came with the meal. I would also skip the fried dumplings (minimal filling). I haven't tried their signature Bulgogi hoagie yet, but if the rest of the menu is anything to go by, it's going to be a solid, unique twist on a classic sandwich. The food is delivered very quickly, and the place is pretty quiet and no frills. Overall recommendations: - Any of their soups - Bulgogi hoagie

I wanted to try this Korean restaurant since I heard good things about their bulgogi hoagie and I wasn't disappointed! The bulgogi is tender and flavorful! I'd recommend anyone to try this unique combination!

Also got a $9 bag of only 5 palmier cookies. They were good but definitely a splurge. BF bought a small bottle of balsamic vinegar for $23, like wut?! I eyed a jar of salsa for $28 and jam for $16 but damn, everything was way above even farmer's market prices. The sandwiches start at $18 for a small and go to $24 for a large. BF and I got the chicken avocado on challah bread and a new crunchy pickle. Zingerman's does a good job with their pickles! Skins were a little too hard but I love that they're not overly pickled and still crunchy and not too much other seasoning. For $21, the sandwich was not very big and they don't include chips or fries. If I lived closer, heck yes I would come here pretty often to try a sample and buy a very expensive baked good. I appreciated the very friendly and knowledgeable staff. It was giving Trader Joe's employee energy! Parking was a little tricky but not impossible. We came with locals so they knew what was up.

Since their menu is always evolving and changing, it's great that they take the time to walk through my options. So they have their standard amazing pizzas (which i first had at the farm) and their shockingly authentic pastries (even better croissants than I have had in Paris). But last week I tried their new breakfast food, and MAN! We love the sesame bread, but geez louise, the baguettes are addictive. Their head baker is INSANELY talented. Remember that scene in Ratatouille when the food critic gets transported to a core memory? That happens to me when I eat that bread. I have purchased goat milk soap there (its handmade by the baker's wife), hot chocolate mix, a kabocha squash, this no sugar added mango puree (which I made a no-sugar added mango torte with). They have these really cool unique products, and it really is a treat to stop by. The place is beautiful, and it is a gem to have such a high quality place to eat on this side of town. The passion that these people have comes through in their food, the products they sell, and the way they treat their community. I love Ann Arbor, and I love this cafe.
