"Pizza Sarah" was the most smile-riffic of the staff ... my thin-crust 7" veggie pizza was tasty-riffic ... peanuts were not free (75¢ or $1.50) the 1957 "Moose Saloon" appears to be locals choice ... mostly a restaurant with a bar ... the carvings on the walls, bar edges & even picture frames are part of the bar flair ... the bar name only appeared on the beer growler from & over the exit door from what I noticed ... the sawdust covered floor & the saloon doors on the street entrance were a nice touches 08.12.20 read more

A must in Kalispell!! The floors covered in hay, you throw your peanut shells on the ground, you drink cold beer and hot pizza! If you're extra adventurous you can drink what the regulars called "red beer" AKA beer with tomato juice. I got the beltian white which is my FAV and they serve it in an extra chilled glass. If you want crappy beer, i guess you could find it, but your random choice is still likely to be some of the best beer you've ever had. So my favorite restaurant here in Kallispell was closed and ended up at Moose's. I have heard great things but just not the biggest pizza fan. OMG!! What a blessing my usual place wasn't open !! The pizza was absolutely the best I've ever had. I love a thin crust and lots of cheese. And it was packed with ingredients. Bomb pizza!!! Wait am I allowed to say that? But wow, thank you for serving pizza so late at night! We are out of towners from a large city so we are accustomed to late night bites but in a smaller city you don't have that luxury. Anyways, the pizza we got was delicious. When we were checking in at the hotel. My colleague told me how "Awesome" the pizza is at the Moose's Saloon. Me,,, I'm usually skeptical about awesome pizza. Specially coming from a Midwest American guy. But then something inside me said that I should tag along. We enter a dimly lit setting. There are no windows in the establishment, so everything is pretty much ambient lights. I definitely like the atmosphere. Its like being way way way way way back in frontier land. I could imagine it being as that as well. Walking on saw dust, booths, wood celings, bar,,, minus the smell of cow and horse manure. Anyways,, my colleage orders the beer. We order the pizza at a different window. Remember to bring cash only,, if not,, there is an atm,, all you gotta to is turn around and its on your left. We put an order for a large supreme. They gave us a number and they said they'll deliver it to our table momentarily. The pizza is actually very good. The cheese was perfect and the toppings were very good. The crust was thin, chewy and crispy which was definitely an interesting texture. All that together in my mouth was like an event. The service was awesome. The pizza arrived hot, my beer was served cold. We definitely had an amazing time here at Moose's saloon and wouldn't hesitate to come back again if ever I'm in town. Yes, this is a restaurant where you walk into a window and order what you want from the posted menu. Then you walk to the bar and order a drink and it's handed to you immediately. After that you sit down at any table that's open- the people were friendly and the service was good. The only food we ordered was pizza and a soda. The pizza came hot, tasty, and had a good crust, a little crispy, and a little chewy. Loved it. read more

Just cross the room and go to the other side of the room past the bar and taps. Place your order and take your number and find a place to sit whilst you wait. This is a sawdust-on-the-floor kinda place. There are many beer taps to choose from at the bar. When we stayed out late on the trail hiking, this was the only place we could find for decent food after 10pm. When you get sandwiches to go, they'll give a generous helping of Ruffles potato chips in a paper bag. Recommended! read more

Dimly lit bar/ restaurant... sawdust all over the floor (don't know why). CASH ONLY. You have to seat yourself, order food in one corner, order drinks or water at the bar. Nothing but beer and wine. No hard liquor/ disappointed no mixed drinks. Pizza was less than special, glad it wasn't too expensive. We ate it... simply because we were starving and too tired to try and find someplace else. I grew up in this neck of the woods and Moose's Saloon is a classic dive bar (as in, it's been around as long as I've been alive which is 40+ years) with sawdust on the floor, carvings in the wooden tables, good beers, and fantastic pizza. Sports easy to view from numerous screens placed conveniently thru out the bar. Peanuts by the handful accompanied all beer when requested. My family and I came here while on vacation based on the strong reviews listed prior. We figured if several people thought the pizza was good, then it must be good! The place has a wonderful old-time charm. The walls were lined with relics from the past: Western Union telegrams dating back to the early 1800's and pictures from prior decades. There was sawdust on the floor, and a bar located in the middle of everything, and you could tell it was just a cool place to hang out. We decided to split a 1/2 deluxe, 1/2 Mexican pizza along with a cup if peanuts between the four of us. The pizza arrived in a fair amount of time and we were ready to dig in. The deluxe half didn't look all that great, while the Mexican half looked kind of refreshing, with a pile of fresh lettuce, tomatoes and salsa on top. Unfortunately, the pie really wasn't all that good. I'm sure locals will disagree, but as respectfully as I can, I have to say the pizza at best reminded me of a mediocre frozen pizza. The crust was thin, but tough, with a gritty, cornmealy feel to it, and I can't say the slices were bursting with flavor either. I came in with high expectations that were quickly dashed after my first few bites. If you're looking for a cool atmosphere, you're in the right place...and maybe the sandwiches are good (we didn't try 'em). I'd do yourself a favor and skip the pizza, though. read more

Moose's was recommended by our Airbnb host, and I believe they only did so for the novelty. Immediate thoughts walking in were.... it looks like an old mining shaft! It's dimly lit, lots of old time-y trinkets covering the walls, saw dust all over the floor, peanuts everywhere, wall graffiti and has the feel of a dive-y college bar. For those Hoosier's out there, it is reminiscent of Nick's English Hut. There are no menus here. You order your pizza or sandwich in the back corner of the bar. You will see a health inspection grade of A+. That gave me some relief. However, if the kitchen gets and A+ I would give the dining area and bar an F. We found seats at the bar but it was dirty. Then when people ordered pitchers of beer the overflow rolled down to us a few seats a away. No one bothered to towel it up. The pizza was very average. I did like that it's thin crust and they didn't skimp on the toppings. Overall, I wasn't blown away. To top off the mediocre food experience I received a flat coca-cola. The beer selection is mostly big box American beers like Coors and Bud Light plus a few beers from Montana breweries. The night we visited they were out of one of the local beers. 'Twas also not blown away by this especially when Montana supposedly has the most breweries per capita in the US. Just in case you aren't fascinated with your dinner or drinking company, there are several gambling machines near the bar. This small operation casino phenomenon appears to be throughout Montana. People actually were playing them when we were there. *scratches head* This place is certainly very memorable and even though everything was average, I am glad we went. read more
