    Spring rolls
    Edeshia B.

My daughter and I decided to try More than Sushi on a Staples Mill Rd for dinner tonight because they advertise $2 Margaritas on Thursdays and a decent looking chicken hibachi. For starters, they don't put alcohol in the margarita, it's just juice. So that's false advertisement. Second, the hibachi presented looked nothing like the pictures. We only had zucchini and carrots with white rice and some sort of teriyaki sauce over the chicken. My daughter had the shrimp hibachi and it was so salty she couldn't eat it. Their spring rolls were BOGO so we had 3 a piece and they were definitely overcooked. The outside was hard and the inside was mushy. We did request our money back for the shrimp hibachi, but I'm taking the chicken home to try to salvage it. Oh and the yum yum sauce.....NO. It's a cute spot but I won't be returning.

    California roll and sauce

This place was lovely. My brother and I moved to Virginia less than a month ago and he's absolutely obsessed with sushi and everything similar to it. He was very excited to try this place out and it did not disappoint! Genuinely my favorite California roll I have ever had and he said that his rolls were definitely in his top three. It was fresh and refreshing, not to mention the sauce was to die for. It's liquidy which is perfect for coating the rice and not just sitting on top of it. We were very tempted to go back in and get more but alas, we don't have a whole lot saved. We will definitely be going there at least once a week. The family running the place is very kind and sweet. 11/10 would absolutely recommend to everyone.

Gyoza (I had already ate a few)

The chicken teriyaki was good, but again, none of this was anything to write home about. Service was very prompt. I thought okay whatever I'll just wait in my car. 20 minutes later I get my order. So after 45 minutes of waiting I finally have my two very basic sushi rolls. I am allergic to avocado and made sure to write on my order TWICE that I wanted no avocado on my California roll. This may be a strange request but that's why I made sure to write it twice, in all caps. I get back to my house and realize they in fact did put avocado on my roll. I threw away the California roll (because I can't eat it) and looked over to the next. As soon as I was about to pick up a piece, I realize there is a hair in the sushi... I tried eating a few pieces but was honestly just really disgusted and annoyed. The few pieces I did eat fell apart as soon as I picked them up and were rolled improperly. 2 disgusting rolls for $20 after waiting for 45 minutes = 2 stars. And that is me being generous. Save your money. Go to Publix!!!

Solid vegan options, hip atmosphere, great service!…read more The vegan bento box for $22 was SO MUCH FOOD: miso soup, ginger salad, a tonnnn of fried tofu, rice, veggies, 3 dumplings, and a vegan sushi roll! We also got the fried tofu appetizer and edamame and we now have so many leftovers! Everything sounded good and everything I tried had excellent flavors. Prices are about what you'd expect. Tons of variety in sushi alone, but the menu is so huge that it can definitely be overwhelming. I'd recommend choosing one section and committing to choose from within it because it's very overwhelming otherwise. It's quite small inside, so you'll be very close to the table next to you. It's definitely not the place if you're bothered by close proximity to others or if you are uncomfortable conversing in close proximity to the strangers next to you. If you have any issues with strange people being near you, you may not be able to tolerate this place. I really loved the ceviche with the soy sauce, green onion, jalapeno and sesame seeds. It was very flavorful! This particular ceviche was in a different place on the menu. Just a heads-up, I had a great waiter who informed me that the tamago has gluten in the binder, so definitely bear that in mind if you have gluten issues, as opposed to simply reading the menu and judging by that. The Tina roll made gluten-free was delicious. Somehow, there's gluten in the spicy sauce so, unfortunately, that's part of the dish. I really would've enjoyed the spicy sauce on the sushi, but appreciated the waiter's forewarning that the spicy sauce has gluten so that I didn't get sick. As for service, it was exceptionally warm and welcoming staff, very genuine. The waiter was excellent, and he even gave a recommendation without waiting to be asked, which I love, and his recommendation for the soy-based ceviche was wonderful. It had a surprising and very much-appreciated bite from jalapenos. The more traditional ceviche had a clear sauce with sliced jalapenos, and that was good too. I love that this place isn't afraid of punchy spice. There are a number of spicy options, and they're never dumbed down to please everyone. The fish didn't taste quite as clean and fresh as I'm used to, but the flavors in all of the dishes were amazing! No one got sick or anything like that, but the flavor of the fish itself could've been better in that sense.

We started off with some fried tofu (not pictured) and followed up with two specialty rolls. For two people, this was plenty to fill us up. The Monster roll is pretty filling with its size, tuna, and a piece of tempura. The roll on the left (forgot the name), was a nice balance to the heavier Monster roll. I thoroughly enjoyed the specialty rolls! Service was great! We were running behind our reservation time and I called to let them know. We still got our table when we arrived! They told us about the happy hour and we got some drinks and an appetizer. Water was always refilled. Ambiance is low key. Great for catching up with friends and families. Bathrooms had cool, neon lighting like you're at the club. Would definitely come back (which I did)!

Still pretty good flavor. I liked the Jeff roll with tuna, it seemed like a pretty thin topping and had a nice little kick from the jalapeño. The Yume roll had good flavor but it felt like the filling with the crunch was a lot of the filling which made it a little bland, nice crunch and simple flavors.

Yoshi Sushi: All-You-Can-Eat... but also All-You-Better-Respect-the-Rules…read more Let me start by saying this: "All You Can Eat" at Yoshi Sushi is not a meal... it's a legally binding challenge. I walked in confident. Hungry. Delusional. I walked out humbled... and slightly monitored. First off, the deal sounds amazing--$29.99 all-you-can-eat sushi? Say less. I immediately started ordering like I was preparing for a competitive eating documentary. "Yeah I'll take the Rainbow, the Volcano, the Godzilla, the Spider Man, the Yoshi, the Jurassic, the Ocean Star, the Dragon, the Red Dragon, and emotionally... I'm not okay." Food starts coming out and I realize two things: 1. Everything is actually really good 2. I have made a terrible, irreversible decision The Volcano Roll? Erupting with flavor. The Godzilla Roll? Destroyed my self-control. The Spider Man Roll? Saved me from ordering even worse things... barely. And the Crazy Roll? Accurate name because at this point I've lost all sense of reality. BUT HERE'S THE THING... Yoshi doesn't play games. You see that tiny line on the menu? "Please do not waste food... additional charges will be applied." Oh, they mean that. This is not a suggestion. This is a warning from people who have seen things. Halfway through, I'm slowing down. The table is full. My spirit is fading. And suddenly... I feel it. Eyes on me. Not aggressive. Not obvious. Just... aware. Like the sushi itself is watching to see if I finish it. At one point I considered hiding a roll in my pocket like a criminal, but I'm pretty sure they would've sensed it immediately and charged me emotionally AND financially. Pro tip: Order in rounds. Do NOT let your ego order for you. Your stomach cannot cash the checks your confidence is writing. Also shoutout to: Purple rice option - didn't know I needed it, now I'm questioning regular rice entirely Appetizers - gyoza and tempura came in hot like they knew I was about to overdo it Service - fast, efficient, and quietly keeping track of your life choices By the end, I finished everything on my plate out of pure respect and mild fear. AI Summary (but real): Food: Fire Value: Incredible... IF you don't get penalized Service: Friendly but lowkey observant like FBI agents Experience: Fun, chaotic, slightly stressful in the best way Final Verdict: All-you-can-eat here isn't just a deal... It's a bet. And Yoshi is very comfortable letting you lose.

This is hands down one of my favorite sushi spots, and I come here regularly -- not just for the…read morefood, but for the experience. First, I have to shout out Carrie, my absolute favorite waiter. He is truly one of a kind. His personality is amazing, he's incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely cares about both customers and staff. He's always doing thoughtful things -- even giving little gifts to coworkers and guests -- which says so much about the kind of person he is. Every visit is better because of him. That said, every single staff member here is wonderful. Everyone is friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Even when the restaurant is super busy and packed, it somehow never feels chaotic or rushed -- which I really appreciate. The seating is another huge plus. The tables are large, the booths are super comfortable, and most of the seating options are booths (which I personally love). There's also a full bar, and the drinks are really good. The food? Always fresh and made to order. The all-you-can-eat deal is amazing and absolutely worth it. Some of my favorites: * Imperial rolls * Dragon roll * Pork gyoza * Cheesy wontons * Fried rice And this might sound silly -- but above all else -- their chicken nuggets are UNMATCHED. Truly. I don't know what they do to them, but they're perfect every time. Another thing I really love is that they never rush you. You can take your time, enjoy conversation, and eat at your own pace. As a slower eater, I appreciate being able to order food gradually so everything still comes out hot and fresh. Lastly, the bathrooms are large and spacious, and I really appreciate that the handicap stall includes a changing table -- that extra thoughtfulness doesn't go unnoticed. Overall, this place consistently delivers amazing food, incredible service, and a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend -- especially if you get the chance to be served by Carrie!
