I wish I'd read the reviews in advance! I took a very very old sewing machine in for repair. When I dropped off the machine, I paid $359.47. Later, I received a call from a technician informing me that an additional $250 would be needed to complete the repairs b/c it's such an old machine and I agreed. I picked up the machine yesterday and was in a rush due b/c I'm in the middle of a move and and I didn't review the receipt until I got home. To my surprise, I was charged an additional $349, not the $250 I was quoted. I called More Than Vacuums and got no answer. I emailed them and that bounced back. I called again and was able to leave a message and we'll see what happens. If this isn't resolved, I'll dispute the charge with my credit card company. Buyer beware. They told me a different price every single time I spoke to them. They'll lower the price to get you to change your mind, but when you agree on a price and leave, when you come back or call it will have tripled. When you argue them back down, they'll agree, then get to the register and it's tripled again. They're always nice about it, and they'll bring it back down if you mention it, but you have to essentially beg them to honor the price they give you. For example, quoted $50 in person, $80 over the phone (after reminding them I left them the vacuum to repair thinking it would be $50) then when I went to pick it up it was $195. What?? Please don't even set foot in this store. They are bait and switch artists and lying, cheating skunks to boost. I have a Hizero electric mop that wouldn't turn on and I had bought it at their store on Colorado Blvd. several years back. I suspected the battery but wanted some advice on it so I brought it in for them to check. they said that it was old (it's only 5 years old) and likely needed to be "serviced" and their charge would be $200. I asked them to just check the battery and they said that they don't do any service work at that location. I insisted that they check the battery and he pretended to not know how to even open the battery compartment. Anyway he found a screwdriver, opened it up and pronounced it fine and dandy and all it needed was the prescribed $200 service. I smelled a rat and picked up my Hizero when he came back to me with today onetime special rate of $150. No thanks. As it turned out it was the battery. Ordered a new one online for $80, replaced the old, charged up the new and now the unit works fine. But wait, there's more. Our Oreck vacuum cleaner had a broken part on the bag attachment piece. I had not had a chance to tell my wife about my experience with these scam artists. She dropped off our vacuum cleaner and was told that it was old (in this case more like 10 years old) and would need to be cleaned for a $90 fee that she paid for in advance. That plus the parts would have it up and running again in no time. She got a call that the cleaning went well and that she'd need to authorize the approximately $37 charge for the part--and that was the only dollar amount that was mentioned in their phone conversation. I was close by and heard it over her speaker. So, I picked it up the other day expecting a $37 charge. Surprise!! Nope, it was an additional $95 for "one unit" of labor--which I assume was for removing the old broken part and replacing it with the new part. Something that anyone who knows which end of a screwdriver to use would know how to do. My wife and I both argued with them about the additional charge but got nowhere. I'll be reporting them to the BBB and may consider additional actions against them as this is just not right. Save yourself the heartburn and find another repair shop and make sure to get an estimate of all of the costs in writing before handing over your appliance to them to be held hostage. read more

I do not recommend this business. I bought a Sebo here a couple of weeks ago, spent $900. I could not get it to pick up the dog hair on my area rugs, after vacuuming there was still obvious dog hair which I could scrap with my shoe. I watched videos on YouTube on how to operate it, read the user manual, and this vacuum just did not pick up dog hair. It picked up dust, dirt etc, but not pet hair. I took it back this morning and he said he does not take back products, that he would "work with me". I asked what does that mean? He said he didn't want to have to keep dealing with me bringing back vacuums, I said just forget it. I was not informed when I bought the Sebo that it was not returnable. I left it there, just going to chalk up to a very expensive lesson. He shouted at me to take the vacuum, I told him I don't want anything to do with it or you. Do not give them any appliance to be fixed. I brought my Breville espresso machine in an error with the pressurization dial. When I picked my machine up, I noticed a dent on the front and a huge scuff mark across the front. When I told the manager of the store about it, he said he would look to see if there was a photo of the machine when I brought it in (insinuating that I brought it in that way and was trying to make a fuss about it when I'm picking it up). He said it was normal wear and tear and the best he could do is discount the balance $10 for the dent. I asked if this is normal and he said well, we don't know if it came in that way. I assure you it did not. Not only did he insinuate that I was trying to pull a fast one on him by bringing in a damaged machine and then pointing it out, he also insulted me by offering only a $10 discount for the damage he caused me. I said, you don't believe me that I didn't bring it in that way and he looked at me, shrugged his shoulders and grinned. I asked to see the manager and he said he was the manager. I wish I had read the reviews on here and Yelp before I brought my machine in. No customer service, terrible business, no care for their work and no integrity to do the right thing. They quoted a maintenance price and then after weeks, told me that was just their transport and bench fee. They then tried to charge hundreds more and when I balked they offered to let me trade it in on a machine they wanted to sell. Of course their trade value was very very low. Nothing worked better, I fought hard for a refund and got almost all my money back - I basically spoke very strongly to them in front of waiting customers about their practices and warned customers in line. So disappointed on my second visit. $125 just to take it in and get it looked at which I thought went toward repair. This was a simple look at it and see what it needs. No need to take anything apart. Got a $300 plus estimate which floored me. After I replied and said never mind, I'll pick it up and do it myself again, they came back with less than $200 saying that the cord didn't need to be replaced and I was a repeat customer so there was that deduction. Why didn't they say that to begin with? Just felt like they were seeing how much they could get out of me. When I said I'd get the $125 back they said no. That's what they needed to "diagnose " it. Don't trust these guys. I came in to try to get my Dyson vacuum fixed because it was shutting off when I was trying to use it. The gentleman working said I would need to leave it there and they would diagnose the issue for $125 flat fee. I demonstrated what the issue was and he said yes you will need someone who knows this machine to fix it. He also offered that I could trade it in for $50 and showed me a $600 vacuum to buy instead. I personally decided at that price point I would try to fix it myself. I went home, googled the issue, watched a video, and then fixed the blockage within ten minutes. The person working new it was this issue (there's just no way that working in a vacuum shop you wouldn't know the telltale signs of a blockage), and instead of being truthful told me I needed to spend $125 to start. Summary is if you like your vacuum and don't want to lose it in a system of potential grifting or thievery, DO NOT TAKE IT HERE FOR SERVICE! Otherwise, typical start, if I could give less than a single star, I would, and here's why..firstly, I went to this store/business because they seemed reputable, and that I wouldn't get ripped off. I dropped off my Dyson vacuum on June 7th at the S. Colorado location for repair, and can remember thinking the person behind the counter is either overworked or disorganized or simply slow at what he does. Around five weeks go by, and I call in to see about the status, and all I get as a response is "...that's about correct to get a repair started". Then, I got a "...we'll look into this and follow up with you." I called back a few weeks to a month later because I have heard nothing from the company, and there's no answer for this misunderstanding of why it's taking so long. I call back....because no one is making an effort to contact me or find any bit of a middle ground...to the 'lead' store in the Denver area, and at this point we are mid-August. I call and leave a message and it got transcribed. I then get an email stating that "We sincerely apologize for the delay and will prioritize your vacuum repair immediately", on Sept 11th. Expect an update soon." I hear nothing after this and have to call back two weeks later approx. Sept. 22-23rd, again because I have received no response or care other than a cold and non personal email. At this point, it's pushing 4 months, and the options I'm offered are less than appealing, and admittedly we end up settling for a less than making us whole type of offer, and we kept getting sales pitch and smooth talking that, to try and get us to settle for one option or another. Personally, I am offended by this service, especially after getting spoon fed the 'woe is me' topic of "we're a small business" speech. I own my own small business myself, and if I mess up or say that a project only takes 'x' amount of material, and it ends up taking more, I eat that cost, because that's business, and that's how business works, you don't go back to the customer and say that "we messed up and you need to pay us more". However, not with these folks, they complain about how they're trying to make you whole all the while not willing to admit they messed up by taking a down payment for a rendered service and a physical object that they ended up losing in their custody, and then fail to own up to rendering their 'promised service'. If you have a have a vacuum or other appliance, and don't want to lose it or get screwed, do not come here. Find another place and be in a better place in your mental state. read more

After paying the 250 up front for what we were told would put the machine back into working order. Got the list of items and fixes necessary from the man over the phone (who we later asked a different expert and said it was complete BS). After this they told us the price to "fix" we called bull shit politely and told them to put back our machine and give it back to us. Fast forward another month they don't call us so now we are reaching out to them and finally after another 2 weeks they give us our machine back. BUT that's not where this ends, they give us our machine back and said it should be in working conditions. Hooray!! Right. NO. There are multiple pieces that are different and swapped for cheap plastic pieces that 1 don't fit, and 2 are completely different pieces, and the original piece that was broken is now removed from the inside and not attached it it's lever. So PLEASE DONT EVER GO HERE OR PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM HERE. THESE PEOPLE ARE THIEVES AND CRIMINALS. I have my old type writer repair service from here. It is beautiful Erika model from Germany. I paid $400 for this. There are few skipping letters and along with space bar. So I asked them to fix these issues for me. It took over 8 weeks which was fine by me. However, it came nothing was fixed and top of that they broke shift key that was fine! Edit: I did receive a call back regarding the repairs that needed to be done on my vacuum. I approved the repairs to be done and was quoted 2 weeks for parts to come in and then possibly another 2 weeks for repair and I am happy to report it was done in 3 days. Upon arrival to pick up my items the manager was there ready to assist me. He worked through my issues with me and assured me their communication system is in the works of being upgraded. I received a credit to my account to try them in the future and give them another chance which I will do. They also didn't charge for the parts needed to repair my mixer to make up for the missed communication and rude customer service on the phone. I dropped my vacuum and mixer here 16 days ago. Upon drop off I paid for both repairs and was quoted 7-10 days for them to look at my products and see if anything could be repaired. On day 10 I called to check status as I had not heard anything from them. I was told they were now running 7-14 days. No communication on extended repair time. On day 15 I called again to get a status and Sandy who answers their phones was busy on another call and took my name and number and said someone would call me back. No return call so on day 16 I called again and spoke with Sandy. She then proceeded to tell me that I call too much. I needed to wait until I got the call that the technician had looked at my equipment and had an idea if they could be repaired. I instructed her I wanted a call back because if they haven't even started the process after 16 days there's no way I'm going to let them continue as this time frame is excessive. Rather than dispose of them I took them in and More Than Vacuums did a wonderful job of repairing my lamps. They keep me informed and delivered a great product. When you try to exchange the product a manager will interfere because he thinks he can beat you and show everyone what an alpha he is rather than let the sales person conclude the transaction. They took weeks to repair my vacuum, did not tell me what was wrong with it, then when I went to pick it up it took them about half an hour to find my vacuum. The whole place just seems kind of disorganized. Then on the way out one of the salesmen tried to sell me another vacuum after I'd just paid for mine to be repaired.
