Sandwaiches were good however when placing the order we were not told if they cut our sandwiches it would cost extra. Very disappointed. I was furious this suggestion should have been more clearly explained that it was an upcharge. Never heard of such a thing . Wont go back or recommend to anyone. This bakery is awesome! Plenty of delicious baked goods like cookies, cakes, pastries and pies. However, their hot food and sandwiches really shine to me. From Ropa Vieja and Piccadillo to chicken and yellow rice. Their Cubano (Cuban Sandwich) is amazing. Each restaurant in the Tampa area makes theirs a little bit different from each other so it's never the same sandwich. Moreno's is no exception. A full Cuban sandwich with their famous Moreno Sauce which is a combination of yellow mustard, mayo and few other spices. I can't recommend it enough. And they cater too. read more

Good food, good service. I like to also pick up Dinner while I am there. We had the Cuban-very good and spinach empanadas. The veggie lasagna is a good take home meal but they have a wall of hot choices and good soup options. I try to stay away from the wall of desserts that look amazing. So hard. I have tried quite a few that I would recommend. Guava turnovers, brownie cookie ( they do get hard over night), mini pies. All tasty. read more

Ok, I think I've been to this bakery enough times to go ahead and write my review. Four stars for an establishment that has a very large variety; and you are more than likely then not to leave with something you like. Disclaimer: I don't like to review bakeries without having visited a few times just because, I usually only get one (sometimes two) items per a visit; and I feel that it's not fair to judge an establishment on how one of their cookies taste. But since this establishment is the only bakery I know in the area that knows how to make Ooey Gooey butter cake, I have now visited this bakery more than enough times. The Ooey Gooey Butter cake is my favorite item at the bakery, I love that it comes in more than one flavor. I know it's not a very common baked good so if you have not tried it I highly recommend it, it's basically a butter cake with an incredible texture, to put it shortly, so it's definitely an item that appeals to most. I've had some of their cookies (e.g. Hungarian bow tie) that I did not really care for, but the Ooey gooey butter cake makes up for that; and there are number of other sweets I've yet to try. In addition to sweets, one side of the whole bakery has savory items. They have a hot bar, empanadas and other deep fried treats, like croquettes. I have had one of their one of their croquettes and it was fine. I also had their deep fried Deviled Crab, which is one of their popular items, it was okay but I definitely wouldn't get it again. As for the establishment itself, it is pretty large for bakery and there is a good amount of seating space. There is nothing at all to the look of the place, but it is not dirty. The customer service is fine. I definitely recommend this establishment to anyone. Even if you come in looking for sweets and change your mind, you'll probably find something else there that will satisfy you. read more

THE place to be for baked goods with a Latin flare. The Moreno Bakery has everything you could imagine from fresh bread and custom cakes to the food you would expect from any Latin market. I tried their fresh bread and a few of the baked goods which were out of this world. I cannot wait to go back and try more. The selection of treats included everything you could ever image from pastries, pies, cookies, cakes, cupcakes, bread and scachatta. I was blown away by the selection and how big the actual bakery itself was. The displays for the baked goods are extremely long and are chock full of beautiful creations. Now let's not forget about the FOOD! The first thing I noticed when I stepped foot inside of the bakery was the delicious smell of Spanish food. Until today--- I should not be publicly humiliated in such a manner ; specifically being screamed at by the owner... Give a human more than a minute to look at the options you have to provide... After today I genuinely don't ever want to step foot in here but it's one of a kind and I do love the food... I can only think of a handful of reasons to ever drive to Brandon, but Moreno Bakery makes the trip worth it every time. I consider myself a bit of a guava and cheese connoisseur and have tried pastries all over Tampa. Nothing has ever come close to the perfection of a Moreno guava and cheese pastry. The ratio of guava to cheese, the sweetness of the guava and the flakiness of the pastry are perfect. The quality was never wavered, and I've been enjoying these tasty treasures for years, long before Moreno moved to its spacious location on Brandon Blvd. There are so many delicious things to enjoy at Moreno but I can't leave without taking home a box of guava and cheese pastries. For lunch, the Cuban sandwich is always a good choice. It isn't exactly a traditional Tampa Cuban, but it's delicious nonetheless. My kids love the Gouda Mac & Cheese, and all the cookies of course. Need a cake for a party? Moreno has you covered with custom cake options and a variety of ready-to-take-home cakes and cupcakes. My three year old requested the lemon raspberry for her birthday this year and it was super yummy. I love the food here, yes the pics are usually of the desserts which are delicious but let me tell you the food here is also excellent. Then their hot bar, yellow rice, white rice, fried plantains, black beans, yuca, slow roasted pork, chicken, so much more. Then the sandwhich bar, pressed Cubans of course, but do many other selections, made right before you're eyes. I used to live in the area and on a trip back I decided to stop by to get my favorite pastry: cream horns. Unfortunately, it turns out that they have completely changed the recipe. The pastry itself is similar, but softer. The filling though is a complete departure. They no longer fill them with whipped cream, they are using pastry cream that tastes suspiciously like vanilla pudding. They also added coconut for some reason (maybe to hide the vanilla pudding taste?). It's no longer worth the stop. Mediocre at best. The service was... less than friendly. read more

This review is strictly for the bakery items as I didn't order anything from the food bar. Let me just say those pastries are unreal. I ordered several "flaky" type pastries such as the cheese pastry, the guava and cheese pastry, and an oreja (maybe called elephant ears in English?). Also ordered and a piece of bread pudding and a piece of Bacardi cake. All the flaky pastries were unbelievably fresh and crispy. The Bacardi cake definitely tasted of Bacardi and the bread pudding was syrupy and gooey in a wonderful way. I am definitely a fan and will be returning. read more

Moreno's is our go to bakery any time we need pastries or a special cake made. They're delicious, well-made and the customer service is always wonderful. They always have a full crew ready and waiting to help you! We go every weekend and pick out a few desserts to munch on throughout the week. And they're honestly so affordable too. I've ordered some pretty fancy cakes for only $40. The picture of the box of pastries is about $15, which isn't bad for the size and amazing flavor of each one. We've only eaten their hot food once before but it was delicious and looks even more appetizing every time. I know everyone raves about the Gouda Mac and cheese, but I wasn't a fan because the Gouda flavor is SO strong. I definitely get the hype though. If you love gouda cheese, THAT is the Mac n cheese made for you! With COVID, every staff wears their mask correctly and wears gloves. They usually keep the door open so fresh air circulates which is nice. They've limited their seating inside so it's more spaced out. They also have outdoor seating. read more

While I've been a long time customer with their great sandwiches and their wonderful bakery, I have to say their hot dinner plates, are absolutely not worth the money. Any other Cuban restaurants give twice the meat and food for half the price. Also for them to be out of main staples? Very disappointing especially around dinner time! My meal cost $12.50 and I know I'll never order something of this sort again! For 12.50 I could have gotten two dinners of the same meal elsewhere and had four meals. Also the Gouda Mac and cheese was dry and gritty, so I'm also very disappointed in that aspect. Honestly very disappointed this time around. I have gone to this place for years , but today was the final straw. Being a place that sales food and baked goods, they are continually inconsistent with their food. I switched to only buying the baked goods. Today I wanted a quick side to get with my family meal this is what I got. I was asked to bring the container back, well I live 30 minutes away and that's absolutely ridiculous to have to prove this place's mistake by bringing something back. Ok so I gave their Cuban Sandwich another try after reading tons of people on Yelp rave about how great it is and it will be my last. Called the order in and told them about my experience last time with the greasiness and untoasted bread after ordering it pressed, lady was nice and said she would put it in for pressed light butter, asked for extra Moreno mayo and pickles. This sandwich looks MUCH better than it tastes, again bread was greasy and not crisp and had no extra Moreno mayo in my opinion although they did give the extra pickles I asked for. I personally found the pork VERY dry and not good at all but I did like the fact they put salami on it which allot of places don't.
