And yeah, their gumbo is among the best my husband has every had...but, ya gotta check out their humongous pasty case. Your only problem here, will be deciding what to get. The Hungarian bowtie cookies are a delicate and yummy choice if you aren't in the mood for chocolate. The cherry cheesecake is also a great choice. My daughter loves the brownie cookies, eclairs and cookies and cream cupcakes. My husband loves the marzipan cookies with fruit filling. My personal favorite is the chocolate cigars. I love the bakery section. There is much to choose from and everything I've tried so far has been good. I have had the guava and cheese pastries, cookies,king cake and cupcakes. They also have good soups. I love their Cuban sandwiches. They also have good coffee like cafe con Leche and cortadito. Also the hot food is good to but a tad over priced for a meat and 2 sides. My sister told me about Moreno's. I have still never been there to try their delicious gems that I am repeatedly told about. I can hardly wait. My sister lives in Riverview, and when it comes to Birthdays, Special Occasions, etcetera, I can always buy something over the phone from Las Vegas. My sister is always surprised, as Moreno's is her favorite place to dine. They make it so easy for gift giving on my end, that makes it so easy for me. No pain whatsoever. I am looking forward to meeting the employees and management of this Bakery when I visit Riverview next time. My sister has sent me photos of the food and pastries that just make me drool. I will start by saying that this is an excellent bakery and has good quality baked goods and hot food station. That being said, I think they have an unrealistic idea of the value of their hot food. If you want a large 24 oz canister of only meat it runs you $32!!! Seriously people? Last time I checked I wasn't at Bern's, where the meal gets cooked just for me and then comes with endless sides and by the way brought to my table by a guy in a tuxedo. Someone needs a reality check. This is a hot food station. You're not cooking per order, you're not providing table service or real plates and utensils. It's going in a plastic to go container. Not to mention when you do order a main meal with two sides they try to convince you that the main dish (the meat) has to go in what would be considered for the rest of the world in the smaller side dish compartment. Booooo!!! They are totally price gouging their customers. Some of those customers being very loyal to Moreno and don't deserve all this greediness. Just got the amazing pastrami sandwich. It was amazing and pressed just like I like it. But the only downside is how expensive their bakery items are. Just for 4 regular iced Halloween cookies nothing fancy. They are 1.75 a piece. Doesn't matter if you order in bundle or not. So not sure I will be buying any pastry items. read more

If you're indecisive give yourself a couple days to order (seriously there's so much!) and by the time you make it to the bakery your head is going to be spinning. There's a huge selection and it's all fresh and the place is very clean service is fast. You don't have to worry about sitting down waiting for service you get what you want right away. This is authentic Cuban food, growing up in a Cuban home I know good Cuban when I try it. The girl even gave me my yucca nice and juicy from the bottom of the pan in all its garlicky goodness. I've been buying bakery items from Moreno for many years, but I've never purchased a cake until last Friday. My hands were forced after purchasing a small birthday cake at Publix bakery and having the icing make me sick (well gave me a stomach ache and the runs). Anyway, for my father's birthday we decided to go to Moreno Bakery. We ordered a basic quarter sheet cake with pineapple filling. Let me just say how fresh and delicious the cake was. Guest even came over to compliment us on the cake. I've never eaten the cooked food there, but I have purchased their cold pizza and meat turn-overs as lunch meals for others. I just want to say that this bakery has some really good pastries and I would recommend stopping by and picking up a treat for yourself or a loved one. read more

While I do love certain things from this bakery such as the guava cheesecake, apple turnover and pecan pie I have to agree this place is over priced. I had the german chocolate cake cupcake recently for $3.50 and I have to be honest, Publix makes it much much better and for a dollar cheaper. I've ordered a cuban here and there was so much mayo on it i had to take it apart to wipe out as much as I could with a napkin. $2.50 for basic cafe con leche is too expensive IMO. Even though they have moved into a bigger location that accommodate tables and chairs to dine in, it isn't inviting at all. I almost feel like I'm eating at Sams Club. Its just a large space with several chairs and tables. There is no warmth from he staff anymore. When I would go to the smaller bakery I was greeted with a smile, everyone was very helpful whereas now its "take a number when you're ready to order" ......Still searching for the perfect bakery myself read more

I've been here a few times now as it is right by my office. The pros being they have an enormous variety of pretty much every sweet you can imagine and then some! I got my son's birthday cake here and it was very good (not as good as wrights but also a lot less driving for me) I also highly recommend the guava cheese loaf, I usually buy one to bring home and they are sooooo good! Way better than that crap from publix's bakery! I've also had a few different cupcakes, which are huge, key lime pie, and the gooey cheesecake squares, all very good! I've also stopped in for breakfast and lunch. While their coffee selections are a bit disappointing, their made to order sandwiches are very good and fresh! They also have pastries and empanadas, I highly recommend the ham and cheese pastry is very good and the smoked Gouda Mac is great too. All in all Morelos is a solid breakfast and lunch spot and great if you have a sweet tooth, but be careful because no matter what I'm going there for, I always end up buying some dessert to take home! read more

this bakery's food is pretty good, but expensive for what you're getting. during the mornings there is no organization as far as which register is taking orders and handing out orders. there doesn't seem to be a lot of teamwork among the girls in the front compared to the girls in the back. my husband loves this bakery for its quesitos, and it's really the only reason why we even return. although it's not very often. our first experience was for our wedding cake tasting. in the commercial it shows the Baker taking the clients back and having a one-on-one consultation. That was not the case with us. We were charged $25 for four cake samples. When given the samples they told us to find an open table and let them know which cakes we preferred. The cakes themselves were dry and the feelings tasted like they were out of the can. very disappointed for Latin bakery. read more

Terrible service again. I have been to this bakery 5 times but have only been able to make a purchase 2 times, why, because the service it terrible. The bakery items are pretty good and better than anywhere else in the area so I have given this business several tries. The issue is the ordering and paying for your items, it is total kaos. no one is interested in taking your order (even with numbering system they use), if you are lucky enough to get your order taken than the next obstacle is to pay for your order (I made it this far today), good luck at getting in front of the line because there are people in that line buy drinks and other items and the cashier is making those items while working the register. I gave up and have decided just to make my own cup cakes. Bottom line, good food, terrible service. read more

Today was the last day I step foot into Moreno's Bakery! I was extremely disappointed in the quantity of meat in the "Moreno's Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich" and the "Moreno's Cuban Sandwich". I spent $14.00 for both sandwiches and got 1 slice of meat between the cuban bread. I brought the sandwich back to the counter; after they weighed and measured the sandwich they said there was nothing wrong with it. Well, I have to say that I have been going for lunch at Moreno's Bakery for several months (new location) and their sandwiches were NOT lacking meat and/or cheese. As a matter of fact, their sandwiches were extremely heavy from all the meat they packed inside them. Aparently, they are watching their costs and as a result, their quality and quanitity has decreased which is really sad for them. I think if they continue to provide bad customer service, poor quality they are igoing to be in big trouble! read more

Stopped at Second Hand Savvy to kill time while my husband was on a conference call. Not only did I find some fabulous items (Brighton bag, rhinestone cat eye sunglasses etc!) the store owner suggested here for a fast, fresh, local lunch. Cuban sandwich & Ropa sandwich were both killer. Added bakery fresh chocolate dipped macaroons, eclairs & a 3' long loaf of Cuban bread with traditional palm frond ($3) - for hostess gifts.
