Good old-school bar, Good food, Good people, Great music! We love coming to The Morgan Inn for live music, especially rock and country. They have bands Thu-Sat, and jamming on Sun, and every other week it's open-mike on Wed! A few Saturdays ago, (Sep 2025), we got here at Morgan and Frederick just before the band started at 8 and lucked into one of the tables right up front. I'm guessing there's table seating for around 50, with around another 25 at the bar just to the side, and you can hear and see the band from there, too. There's a colorful fenced deck out back for another 40 or so, but the music might not reach. The wait staff is quick and attentive and friendly, and the drinks are strong. I got my usual jack and coke here, and we got a cranberry-vodka Cape Cod with a lime. They have all kinds of sandwiches, burgers, and salads, and we like the spinach salad because it's fresh with brightly flavored strawberries! Also sprinkled pecans and some crumbled feta cheese if you want. They are happy to adjust it as you like, so we say light on the feta plus a side of balsamic dressing :-). Zingy and tasty! I always always order something from their walleye-fish menu, on the wall by the bar if you dont see it in print. It's a light-flavored whitefish that's perfectly creamy and tender and bone-free, some of the best white fish there is! It's reminds me of whitefish i've had on the shores of the Chesapeake. I've had Morgan Inn's generous fried platter and generous sandwich, and this time we had dinner earlier so i saved room for their lightly-coated piping-hot crispy tender juicy six-or-so walleye bites. And another whiskey-coke from our fun waitress. We got a little blurry :-). We loved this evening's rowdy talented band, Noble Black (Karen, Dan, Gary, and Keith). Even though they play gigs all over the region, we hadn't heard this band before, and they really killed! Mostly hot classic rock, a few country classics, a few bluesy songs ones among those. They walked around with during the show with a live equalizer so there was good sound wherever we wandered! Each of the four musicians added some terrific licks of their own, and I dont know about you, but when the building starts to shake, we get up and dance! We gave their contact info to the place closest to where we live, hoping for an appearance there some time :-) A great evening of loud music, good food and drink, friendly staff, and good loud friendly folks :-) As always! read more

Our very first visit here and I was impressed by the quality of the food. The service was a bit slow but I am sure that was because they were super busy. They had a pretty good live band playing and it was not super loud in the place. Their menu is pretty extensive and several positive comments were made about the cream of crab soup as well as their fish special. Portions are large and tasty. Came to listen some live music and we were pleasantly surprised. Misti was our waitress and was amazing. She was very personable, funny, and quick to make sure our drinks were never empty. The food options were pretty expansive for a local bar and surprisingly delicious. I got the coconut shrimp and it was delicious. The fries that came with it were a little too soggy for my liking but that's a personal preference. Other people in our party got the bang bang shrimp, pot pie, cheese curds and cream of crab. Everyone loved what they got. It can be a little loud with the live music but that's to be expected in a bar. Definitely recommend checking out this spot. read more

Dive bar at its greatest! Are you looking for a casual setting with delicious food? Then Morgan inn may just be the place for you! The owner, Jill, and her staff are super friendly and professional! There is outdoor seating. They have 1 pool table and a jukebox. My favorite menu item is Jill's pot pie!! Jill has a great band line up every weekend. I don't even know where to start! Me and my wife wanted to get away from our 1 bedroom studio apartment in new york city (where actual people live, not this barnyard you people call home). Anyways, we wanted to bring ourselves down to the "south" in maryland and morgan's inn drew us in....little did we know that we'd be served the carcass of a rat fried in old oil and nachos that tasted like an AI generated them. How did you manage to f*** up simple dishes. I went into the bathroom and had a breakdown to recover, not because of the food but because there's 2 urinals?!?!? what has america come to, why tf are toilets facing each other (intimate?). Do NOT come here with your wife, come here with your worst enemy and tell them to order any appetizer. Great music tho! they played creep by radiohead like i asked!! read more

I'm a classic Yelp user but not much of a giver. I use Yelp all the time but very rarely leave a review. Mostly because a majority of the restaurants I go to have solid reviews and end up delivering. That said, Morgan Inn hasn't had a review in a year and this is a location that I've been driving past for a year now but until today I've never been inside. So I'm a sucker for a good dive bar and this place does not disappoint. To date my absolutely favorite bar/restaurant is Michaels Pub in Columbia Maryland. It couldn't have been more of your classic "Cheers" setting. The bartenders knew your name, the beer was cold, and the bar food was spot on. Unfortunately, Michaels closed years back and I've been searching for this same "Cheers" type feel ever since. Morgan Inn might be the closest thing I've found since the days of Michaels Pub. Now I'll start by describing the vibe when you walking through the front doors. It's a classic U shaped bar with TV's, pool table, darts, high tops, and country music playing from the on demand jukebox. The bar could absolutely use a face lift but honestly I love a bar that shows it's age. If I wanted a stuffy, high end bar, that was going to drain my back account there are plenty of those around. This is a spot where the bar tender asked me my name when he came to the table and called me by name the rest of the time I was there. There were a number of locals you could easily identify as regulars and I love that. I want to be a regular, well maybe not every night regular. Then there's the things that compelled me to really write the review and that's the fact that they have food, and the food was decent. Walking in for the first time you might easily turn around and walk out (as i said it needs a face lift) but haven given it a chance the food was damn good. Now keep in mind it's bar food but not bar food you'd think was cooked in the microwave. I had the wings and loaded fries and they did not disappoint. There were several things in the menu I wanted to try but only more reason to come back. So if you're still reading this short essay known as a review I'd absolutely give this place a shot. Keep in mind it's not going to knock your socks decor wise but if you love dive bars, good people, good music and good food then this is your place. 10/10. The owner, Jill is exceptionally friendly. She greeted me with a smile and service was excellent. I ordered wings and nachos and had some beers for happy hour. The wings were among the best of Buffalo wings. No corners cut with real blue cheese dressing with chunks of real blue. Nacho cheese is homemade and toppings were generous. Solid beer selection. Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon as part of the #frederickmoose marble run. Found great music, cold drinks, and friendly bar patrons. I don't normally post a lot of Yelp reviews as I'm not a make believe food critic but my most recent experience warrants a review. The Morgan Inn has some amazing food. They make everything from scratch, including the nacho cheese sauce. I had a very generous bowl of Maryland Crab Soup, shared a plate of nachos with my wife and we split the French dip panini. The nachos were superb, with fresh ingredients and homemade chips. The soup blew me away and I'm pretty particular about Maryland Crab soup. The French dip is worth the visit alone. They source all their meat from a local butcher called Wagner's meats. I also get all my meat from Wagner's as I am an avid griller and amateur back yard BBQ cook. The beers are always cold and the service is prompt. I can't recommend this place enough, and it's my favorite bar in the area. It's truly a bar with amazing food. read more

Stumbled upon this place on a Sunday afternoon and what a find! We were immediately greeted with a warm welcome and firm handshake from Steve the owner. This place is a dive. If you want fancy and beautiful things around you than don't come here. If you want to pay low prices for beer, shoot pool, feel like the most beautiful woman in the room, eat naughty food, and get some wisdom, than this is the place for you. The bartenders have been known to drive people home. This is a small town bar and it is like family. This place is relaxed. Don't come here if you're in a hurry. The food is not healthy but it sure does taste delicious. Reasonably priced. All the meat is local and delivered fresh weekly. BEST cheesesteaks and FRESHLY CUT french fries and gravy and most importantly HOT. You can watch all your food get cooked...and yes watch the cook microwave your food...NOT. Guess what? This business has been here since the 1940's... The owner has been here cooking burgers and fries since 1989. My favorite is the cheeseburger with everything, but most people order the steak and fries. They have crab balls too but I don't like them so much. PLUS all beers and mixed drinks are not so expensive. Also, there is an awesome deck outside so you can smoke while hanging out. Don't come here if you are intimidated by locals. We held a fundraising event here last Saturday. The owners Jill & Steve not only opened up early to accommodate us but donated items to our silent auction. They sit up a cooler of bottled water for our rider and were ready to do whatever we needed to help us make our event successful. So when 100 or so people all rode in they were as ready as you can be to handle all of those people at one time. One of the wait staff even helping me put together some last minute items for our auction. Our event was very successful with the help of all these great folks at Morgan Inn. We enjoyed ourselves so much that quite a few of us went back on Sunday. But sure to order the cheese steak sub as it is DELICIOUS! Don't go here! I don't want anyone else getting in on my new favorite spot. We went on a Sunday specifically for the live music. We ended up enjoying the music and the food and the cold beer. On Sunday, this little gem has impromptu bluegrass/country jam sessions with anywhere from 2 two 10 people who just "arrive" with their instruments and sit and start playing (this according to my buddy who has been there a number of times). My wife and I went and met a friend who had been asking us to meet him there for a year, at least. We were not disappointed. Make no mistake, the Morgan Inn is a place for real folks to get together and talk and laugh and sing and eat. Please don't bring an attitude or expectations that can't be met. If you want cold beer, good food and great music, you'll be fine. Big screens on the wall with NASCAR or football, a couple of pool tables and the best burger I've had in a while. Tasted like it was char grilled and had some spices in the ground beef that were maybe onion soup? Served with fresh cut fries, boardwalk style with the skin on. My wife got chicken tenders with fries which were equally fresh and well made. This is bar food done really well. Lots of bikes in the parking lot and seemed like a lot of regulars. Nice deck on the back too. The music varied as musicians came and went. Banjo, mandolin and two guitars gave way to two guitars mandolin and an electric bass while we were there.
