We just had another delicious meal at Morgan's Mango. This is our fourth time here and once again we loved it! My husband had the osso buco which he loved. I had the catch of the day, the Puerto Rican sea bass prepared voodoo style. Both of our dishes were fantastic. We started with a glass of wine each and the bread baskets. The bread was warm and served with a compound butter which was delicious. The service was stellar and the manager came around to check on us. A really nice touch. Highly recommended for a visit on St John. We enjoyed the bisque, Caesar salad and local bisque. Their cocktails also hit. The key lime pie apparently wins awards and it was very good, but wished there was more of the tart lime flavor and less sweet cream flavor - but the crust was excellent. Really great lobster- go on 'lobster night', Saturday and and ??? We went on Saturday - make reservations early or be prepared to sit at the bar which, was a very pleasant experience. We had called that day around 4:30 and the bar was the only option, so big parties make your res early! The lobsters are grilled and not over seasoned at all. The sides were tasty too! We had lobster on their last night of the season for lobster and it was done perfectly. The 1 1/2 pound have us enough to take left overs home. The service was good and she was helpful. The restaurant was well appointed. Overall would go back for the fish and lobster anytime. read more

Always the best dinners on St John and in a beautiful setting. The fish is always outstanding.

Overall the food was good. When offering bread for the table, it should be disclosed that the tiny basket of bread is not complimentary. Charging $4 for a Sprite and not even offering the can is absurd. I opened my napkin and it was covered in someone's make up. Asked for a new napkin and they gave me one but why was that one even folded and set out? The light above us was flickering the entire time, and we were told "it will stop". It did not stop. My husbands Paella came out on an obviously chipped plate. Just sad to see that the prices have drastically increased over the years but the details are clearly being skipped over. The server was nice but certainly rushed us. We wanted to just ordered appetizers and see how we felt, she told us she would wait to take our order until we knew what our main course was. I felt rushed and hurried to make a choice. All the food came out very quickly and tasted wonderful. But the overall experience was subpar and the food did not necessarily worth the rest of it. read more

Love this place. I have been at this restaurant two times from two different visits to St. John. The waitress Stephanie was great and took care of a party of six at my last visit. We als received great service from Marguerite. Warning, if you want lobster or mussels you need to check their website because they only serve it certain days of the week and they could run out by dinner time. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer and it was delicious. I ordered the mahi mahi blackened and it was also delicious. The beans served was so good. On the recommendation of a colleague, we dined here during our first night in USVI. Luckily for us, it was Lobster night which was the basis for the recommendation. We ordered a 1.5lb lobster, a paella to share as an appetizer and the snapper featured entree. The Caribbean lobster was served split in half and paired with rice along with the best bean medley I have ever tried. That said, I definitely prefer cold water lobster but it was rather tasty. The snapper was served whole, head on and all. Navigating through the bones was no walk in the park, but the flavor made it all worth it. We opted for veggies instead of rice with the snapper and received feather beans. The green vegetable tastes a bit like a cross between edamame and snap beans. We loved them. The paella was unique in that it tastes largely like a seafood risotto more than traditional paella. Of the three items, I would list the paella as the winner, followed by the locally sourced snapper. In sum, this is a great place for a casual reasonably priced evening dinner. read more

My husband and I drove over to Cruz Bay from Coral Bay to have a nice celebratory newlywed dinner at Morgan's Mango! It was delicious. I got the wahoo dinner special and he got the surf and turf. The corn, beans, and rice on the side were nothing too special considering the price of the meal. His steak was amazing. The lobster was a little tough, but you did get a lot of lobster for the price which was nice! Definitely try their key lime pie! It was our favorite that we had on the island. Our server was attentive and sweet. Ambiance was nice, laid back patio atmosphere. I did have a roach crawl on my lap and onto my napkin while eating dinner which I had to brush away, while keeping my composure. I didn't want to make a big uproar about it though because it is a tropical island and we were sitting up against the side of the porch next to a palm tree. This is my favorite place to eat on St. John. Everything we had was amazing and our waiter was wonderful. We started with the lobster, shrimp and gouda empanada and the scollops with truffle sweet potatoes. Both were amazing. They were so flavorful and cooked very well. My husband got surf and turf and I got the catch of the day, wahoo with the mango rum sauce (per our waiters recommendation) and OH MY GOSH that sauce, I would drink it if I could. Our friends got surf & turf and surf & surf (which I thought was cool you could do). The dessert is the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars. It was very good, but not amazing like the rest of the meal. We got the key lime pie and the tres leches. Next time I'm on St. John I plan on making a reservation at Morgan's mangos for multiple nights of the trip. read more

We made reservations for Easter Sunday and unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. The food was way overcooked (both filet and rib eye which we ordered medium) and underwhelming. The menu is not kid friendly either and when we tried to order the one chicken dish for our youngest, we were informed they were out of it. The waiter made no suggestions for alternatives so he was left eating bread rolls. We didn't send the steaks back b/c we wanted to eat quickly so we could get our youngest some dinner somewhere else. It was a total bummer...overpriced and underwhelming and a not very accommodating waiter to boot. read more

This spot was recommended to us by our Airbnb hosts and it did not disappoint. Definitely recommend getting a reservation if you're up for a nicer night out in St John. The staff seemed to take COVID protocol very seriously. We had to wear masks until seated and use hand sanitizer to get into the restaurant. Our waiter JC was the only staff member who wasn't wearing his mask properly, which was frustrating as he would get closer to us to set down silverware or help fill up our cups. It was below his nose the entire night. It made us feel a little more anxious about the experience and frustrated that we had the waiter who didn't abide by the rules while all the other staff was wearing their masks over their nose and mouth. The coconut grouper with Mango Rum sauce was highly recommended to us but when we arrive for our 7:45pm reservation they said they were out, which was a little disappointing. We ordered the Catch of the Day scallops instead and they were phenomenal. Some of the best scallops we've had and they were large, which was nice. Very well cooked. Our favorite dish of all. Order it with the Mango Rum sauce. It was perfectly sweetened and balanced the dish really nicely. We ordered the Shrimp ceviche to start. The yuca chips were my favorite. Had a nice salty side and a fun drizzle of balsamic. The ceviche was fine. Probably our least favorite dish. We've never had just shrimp ceviche before so perhaps that was the issue. We still finished it but just didn't have the same citrusy flavor as other ceviche. Would try the other ceviche in the future. We also ordered the paella which was yummy! The blend of cheesy/saucy rice the peppers and fish was tasty. I had a calamari or two that was a little rubbery. Which made the dish less ideal. Lastly, we ordered the key lime pie! It was delicious! Highly recommend. The sugary buttery graham cracker crust mixed well with the meringue and lime pie. read more

Beautiful location in st johns. The frozen drinks are amazing. Seafood and lobster is delicious. Portions are sizable. My absolute favorite was the lamb lollipops- incredible!! This was my second visit to Morgan's Mango. My first time was pre Pandemic, and if I can sum it up in one word, "CONSTANCY". MM is outstanding fine island dining. We were a party of 6 and everyone raved about their meal. We were lucky enough to score a reservation on Lobster Night. Booked 30 days before we arrived on island. The tuna tartar app was fresh and full of flavor! My lobster was cooked to perfection! My wife had the grouper which in her words was "amazing". Several in the party had the surf & turf. The steak was cooked to perfection as well. Be warned the surf & turf is a lot of food and worth every penny. Dessert was the icing on the cake! If you left room try the Key Lime pie. I'm not a dessert guy but WOW, just WOW! The owner took the time to personally greet each of the tables. Which was not typical in most of my dining experiences. Nice touch! Understanding we are living in a pre pandemic world where the service industry has limited staff, they are over worked, etc.... I go back to where I started this review, "CONSISTENCY". That sounds great TOURISTS food is great but ask for prices. . My husband got charged $104 for surf n turf. 5 oz rib eye and swordfish. I got charged $60 for 6ioz sea bass. The one place we wanted to go to haven't been here for years. And their excuse sorry the server didn't tell you the prices. And the server respond was "you didn't ask?!" 5 star fish. Best fish on the island! Wow, they are back and better than ever. We dined last night. The restaurant looks amazing. So, we were told we didn't need reservations anywhere right now. False. Make a reservation here. It was packed. My husband got quite upset. We don't mind waiting of course but it became rather obvious that others without reservations who came behind us were seated ahead of us. We were the very last to be seated. We're just returning tourists, I guess. Seemed like a lot of well-known locals this evening. I could gripe a lot (and hope management takes heed ) and my husband would complain indeed, but forget about it. The food is amazing!! We had the empanada de la casa (house special of the day) $9, a beef and cheese, with the flakiest most melt-in-your mouth crust. And a fresh little citrus slaw salad that balances the empanada perfectly. Then, we asked our waiter if we could do the coconut shrimp as an appetizer and they said sure, no problem. Thank you for that. Four perfectly crispy coconutty delicious shrimp served with a spicy banana dipping sauce $16 and worth every penny. Onto dinner. My husband ordered panko coconut crusted grouper $40. A nice size portion, crispy on the outside, moist and flaky on the inside, drizzled with a lemongrass reduction. These indescribable mashed potatoes with an island succulence I can't quite put my finger on. Addicting. The only downfall were the undercooked Brussels sprouts. I had the fresh catch $40, one of 3 selections, striped sea bass with a chimichurri sauce (parsley, garlic, olive oil). The fish was juicy, flaky, tender, and super fresh. One of the most enjoyable fish dishes I have ever had. One of the best fish preparations on the island, of not the best. Paired with authentic Spanish beans and chick peas and Spanish rice. We were stuffed yet we couldn't pass up a taste of the almond joy bread pudding, which we wished had been served much warmer. We took it to go and enjoyed it hot as it should have been, for breakfast the next day. We will be back with a reservation. Update: we did come back with a reservation for my birthday March 23rd. They were out of empanadas and I made a terrible sad noise when they told me. We had lamb lollipops and tuna tartare. Very good. Tuna tartare immaculately fresh but we found two tendons which should not have been there and the mango vinaigrette was absent. We still enjoyed the raw greasiness of the tuna with squeezed lemons. I ordered surf and turf -filet with chimichurri amazing! Fresh swordfish with mango rum sauce. Wow! Another spectacular meal and I am picky. $70 My husband had the coconut panko encrusted grouper with lemongrass reduction again $40. Love this dish. Dessert was key lime pie, good, but not great like Ocean Grill. And a new flourless chocolate torte. No, not good. We took these to go so no sending it back. It was my birthday bummer. No free birthday dessert here either, oh well. Things must be tight. Still 5 stars! The strongest recommendation I have is the drinks are not very good. They don't taste very good. Separate easily, little to no alcohol. Please, management, seriously, revisit the bar drink recipes and techniques. We made reservations at Morgan's Mango for our dinner cruise from St. Thomas to St. John and I'm SO glad we did. This was my favorite dinner of our whole trip. The atmosphere is laid back but sophisticated and has the island feel without being too beachy. Our waitress was very pleasant and ensured our night went perfectly. For drinks we ordered the Lovango Lime, which was nice and refreshing for a warm summer evening, the Hugo, 1989, which was sweet like an alcoholic fruit smoothie, and the Jamaican Planters Punch, which was sweet-ish but very strong. We ordered one of the appetizer specials, I believe it was a ceviche-type dish served in plantain cups, and it was delicious. We all agreed that we could have each ordered that as our main dish and we would have been very satisfied. For the meal I ordered the coconut panko encrusted fresh grouper with yuca/potato mash and plantains as the sides. Thinking about it now has me about to get on an airplane just so I can taste it again. Everything about it was absolutely to die for. The fish was fresh and flaky, with a sweet coconutty crust. The yuca/potato mash was like mashed potatoes but a billion times better. The mash was seasoned to utter perfection. The plantains were soft and tasty and felt like a little bit of dessert with my main dish. My fiancé ordered the coconut shrimp with rice and beans and corn as the sides. The coconut shrimp was exactly as you dream of coconut shrimp to be on an island. Truly delectable. It was difficult to not take his plate and eat both meals! The rice and beans and corn were...you guessed it...delicious. For dessert we ordered the key lime pie and it was out of this world. The mousse on top instead of meringue was such a neat change from a typical key lime pie. Everything about Morgan's Mango was just a dream, I highly recommend giving it a try. read more
