We had an excellent experience at Morgan's Mango. It was hot so we got frozen drinks and they were good. Then we got the Malbec mussels for an appetizer, and they were truly outstanding! The broth was so good we ordered extra bread to dip in it. Then we got the seafood paella and the grilled Mahi Mahi for entrees. Both were delicious! The paella had tons of seafood in it, and the mango rum sauce on the Mahi was perfect. Service was good too. We would definitely go back here again. read more

Happy Birthday to me!!! What did they get me??? DIARRHEA!! My wife planned this dinner before we even flew to St John. I couldn't wait. We both ordered the Diarrhea bisque...err I mean Shrimp/bacon bisque. It had a weird taste, but not quite as weird as Caribbean lobster. This was my first time eating a Caribbean lobster and probably my last. After a few bites I tried to squeeze the hell out of that lemon wedge to get every drop on the meat. My wife thought it was weird tasting too. Not sure if it was how they cooked it or that's how it's supposed to taste. Either way, it was gross. I started breaking out in a sweat after the bisque and few bites of the lobster. As I sat in the restaurant bathroom I was paranoid that some kid would open the door. The bathrooms are adjacent to the dining tables and are individual bathrooms. One false move and everybody in the restaurant will see you releasing a grumpy. When I got back to the table my wife said she had to go!!! We got the check from the waiter and hauled ass. Almost ran over a couple deer driving like a maniac back to the cottage. My wife thinks it was food poisoning but I informed her it was merely the diarrhea bisque. read more

We ate at Morgan's Mango in St John's (virgin islands) twice on our vacation...5 star all the way around--we were lucky on Saturday night that we had reservations for Lobster Night--what a treat! Cliff and Cody devoured last morsel of the lobster. The mark-up for one of our fave wines (The Prisoner) was minimal, which was another bonus. Emily and I had the seafood paella (we really should have ordered one and split it, there was so much of it). The cherry on the top was their key lime pie (made in house). We had to go back a 2nd time for the ambiance, the food and the dessert. Oh, and did we mention the service--both nights we had the best servers on the island! Stumbled upon this place after coming back from trunk bay‼‼ I just say if you are on this island you should totally stop here for dinner the food is WONDERFUL Probally one of the best meals I had my whole entire time on the island My server was super friendly and very helpful with everything from appetizers to drinks to main course I started with the mussels I had ate at a few other places and had the mussels this place was the BEST the mussels weren't chewy or super small the sauce was yummy and the mussels were cooked perfectly For my main course I had a surf and turf I had the crab stuffed lobster ( best lobster I've had my entire trip) you could tell it was fresh cooked perfect with the butter for dipping yummy‼ my filet mingon was cooked medium rare and topped with a sauce not totally sure what it was but it was amazing cooked perfect not over done at all I had the dragon martini and the key lime both were yummy I liked the dragon more but both were great For dessert I had the blueberry bread pudding u can't go wrong with bread pudding This place might be pricey in some people's eyes but it is worth every dollar if you ask me‼ if you want great fresh good and fine dinning make sure you eat here it's amazing read more

"Quaint" romantic place for dinner with a great view! We sat by the balcony and have a great view of the island across from the water. Ambiance is an elegant Caribbean feel which is also reflected in the menu. We had the mussels, paella- which was creamier and richer than what I am used to but still delicious, and their version of churrasco-filet mignon with chimichurri sauce. Could tell the seafood was fresh and also well prepared! Great service! Hope to be back someday! read more

Had one of the most incredible meals here last night. The paella was out of this world. The cocktails were on point. The staff was very very attentive. Fast forward to today: Came in to order 3 deserts to go. It's a tough order, I know. Bar staff berated me for taking a single spot at the bar while masked because I didn't have a reservation. (I understand that my meager to go order is taking away from a solo spot at bar, but I digress.). I move to end of bar and wait for 25 minutes for the bartender to meet me that has greeted 4 new guests since me sitting. She says "busy night, right?" I say not busy enough for the service I've gotten. I'd like to order 3 deserts please. And she then asks if I'd like a beverage while I wait. My response due to the horrible service was "only if you'll cover it to make up for this situation". She politely declined. My family and I came here the night before with the most incredible experience ever. The bar staff in one night changed the feelings and chances of recommending this place in 40 minutes. read more

Oh I loved Morgan's mango! We had reservations and were seated right away. There was a power outage that day but the restaurant had a generator and we were so grateful to be there. We had delicious frozen drinks that everyone loved. For my entree I had the vegan coconut paella which was unforgettably awesome. I wouldn't have imagined we had room for dessert but they were soooo yummy and we tried several. Most memorable was key lime pie. I cannot wait to return one day. Went for dinner with a party of 8. Very busy place, as most places on the island are. Service was good (not great). The 4 guys went with the cheeseburger. Wasn't that good. The cheese was Brie. I went to Morgan's Mango for dinner with friends. The decor and ambiance are nice. It's inside and open air at the same time. And, it's clean. They did a great job of rebuilding following the hurricanes. The art is done by local artists. The service was good & friendly. The wine list was decent and offered numerous wines by the glass. In addition there were the requisite named cocktails on the menu. The menu had a nice selection of items to please any palate. We ordered the mussels (they were out), the calamari, a broccoli cheddar soup, 2 cheeseburgers medium rare, 2 catch of the day dinners: scallops in a ginger soy sauce and key lime pie. Everything was delicious. The soup was super. The key lime pie was not traditional nor 'limey', but good. The scallops were sweet and tender. The burgers done perfectly. We had La Crema Chardonnay, Oregon Reisling, French Rose, Caipiroska, and Island Hoppin' IPA to accompany. One thing we did not like was that they still serve drinks with plastic straws. This was a disturbing surprise. We hope they will stop, and I shudder to imagine the to-go containers in light of this. No single use plastic. This was our first time at Morgan's Mango, as we had never fit it in on our prior trips to St. John. We made a reservation and were immediately impressed with the atmosphere. Gorgeous open air establishment that never got too hot, despite the high temps outside. We didn't have any issues with bugs here either at sunset. Service started off a little slow, but they were busy. Food and drinks were excellent, prepared and presented beyond our expectations. The in house gnocchi was sooo good, we took what couldn't be finished with us! Would certainly recommend for a nice romantic dinner, but do not see this being a fun place for a family with young kids. We will return! read more

Slow service. Our waitress Nicci was obnoxious to put it bluntly! We waited a 1/2 hour to order drinks! When they arrived one of the drinks had a fly in it! We were still charged for it! I asked the concierge at our hotel to recommend a casual, inexpensive restaurant. He informed me nothing on the island was inexpensive (i should have known this after just 1 day), but thought Morgan's Mango would be our best bet. We dined here on Christmas and it was quite busy...and festive. I had almost forgot it was Christmas (spending it in the Caribbean will do that to you), but was quickly reminded thanks to the santa hats worn by all the waiters here. The cocktails looked great, but I was in a wine mood...and enjoyed a lovely glass of pinot grigio. The menu was full of seafood deliciousness. We started with the calamari, which I enjoyed so much that I hardly left any for my husband. One of my New Years resolutions is to share my food. For my entree I ordered the catch of the day (seabass) and asked for it to be prepared voodoo style. Voodoo Style= spicy black magic seasoning and island salsa. It's light, delicious and I didn't find it to be overly spicy. The hubby ordered the voodoo snapper. He gave me a few bites (he's better when it comes to sharing) and I think it may have been even better the seabass. It was a beautiful night and I think we would have been satisfied with any meal just sitting at Morgan's Mango, but the food turned out to be pretty good too.
